  1. Had a Capri re-sprayed a few years ago now and it cost just over £2500. That was with a full strip-down and a couple of replacement wings. The finish was very good, but unfortunately the paint was quite hard and prone to stone chips.
  2. Yeah I was leaning in that direction too tbh. I'm gonna take it out and see how it goes. At least in the IS300 I think it has extra soundproofing
  3. Took the exhaust down to local mechanics today expecting them to say at the very least the mid box wouldn't fit, but much to my surprise it all went in nicely :D
  4. Hi Guys, I'm looking to get a new headlight washer cover for my Passenger side headlight. They sell them on japarts and I've tried contacting them to find out what colour it comes in or if its unpainted (i need black) but they haven't replied. Does anyone have a reliable contact over there? Cheers
  5. Hi Guys, I've just received my new exhaust in the post and am wondering how hard it would be to fit if I could get the car up on a set of those mini-ramp things? I would take it to a garage but as I've no tax/insurance at the mo I'd rather not risk it. Also bear in mind I'm used to fixing computers not cars so this would be my first time at getting greasy :P
  6. EEk, so if I end up with an L imprinted in my forehead, the Mrs and kids aint gonna be able to get out of the car without someone pressing the tiny button the other side of my slumped body :s
  7. Cheers for the info neil. It's put me in two minds now on whether I should buy an exhaust over the net or not :s I've seen IS300 exhausts for sale in USA, but I've heard that the IS300 over there has a bigger rear bumper or something :/
  8. Hi Guys, I was just speaking to a friend of a friend yesterday who happens to be a copper, and while admiring my IS he mentioned that one of his mates got car-jacked for his IS200 a few months ago. It got me thinking really. I'd like to lock all the doors from the inside when I take the family out anywhere, but does anybody know what would happen in a crash? Would my family be able to get out of the car if I'd locked all the doors using the button on the drivers door panel?
  9. I just installed the USB version of the Grom in my 300 and I have to say that it was much much easier than I thought. Its just a case of undoing 2 screws (for the dash tray), 4 bolts (for the stereo) and pulling a few plugs out. I even managed to secure my grom in a space behind the stereo and run the USB/Ipod cables into the glove box so it's completely stealthy :D
  10. Cheers for all the nice comments guys. Further to my previous 9hr detail I have spent another 11hrs today doing the whole car again I bought myself a 3M daylight gun of ebay so that I could see each and every swirl and scratch. Its now immaculate :duh:
  11. Cheers dude, so would a cat-back system be OK, or is it literally just the very back box that's the same?
  12. In another thread I was asking about IS300 exhausts and some of you guys said that IS200 exhausts would fit on a 300. However after contacting some exhaust companies they are saying otherwise. Can anyone confirm for 100% that the mounting etc is exactly the same on the 300 as on the 200? Cheers guys.
  13. I used to charge £5 to wash and wax peoples cars as a kid. If only I'd known..... :P
  14. No probs mate. If you need any help using them just give me a nudge. One thing to note about the Lime Prime is that it never 'dries' as such (which is good for use in sun). You just have to keep working it into the paint with the orbital until it goes totally clear and you can hardly see it on the surface. Then its ready to be buffed off.
  15. Sounds interesting - and there's one near me too. Any rough idea how much they cost?
  16. Hi Guys, I'm looking to replace the exhaust on my IS300 (not sure if IS200 ones will fit?). But basically I want something roughly the same size as the stock exhaust so there's no issues with fitting or melting the bumper, and something that has a sporty note but won't wake up the neighbours. Any suggestions?
  17. Hi ian h, Basically what mattc said. I'd either pay a professional to detail the car and expect to pay in the region of £300 for a proper paintwork correction. Or hire/buy an orbital polisher, get some AutoGlym Super Resin Polish along with a good wax and expect to spend your entire sunday sorting it out. Here's what 9hrs got me on my Astral black IS300: Products used were: Orbital Polisher, Merguiars polishing pads, Dodo Juice Lime Prime, Dodo Juice Purple Haze.
  18. Yeah sommit like that. Maybe £245? Its only once you get to 2006 I think you pay the full price.
  19. I'm after some parking sensors as it goes. Are they hard to fit? Alternatively I was thinking about getting a Snooper Laser Star so that it works as a parking sensor and police speed gun jammer all in one :P
  20. Cheers dude. I'm ordering in an SRT Intake w/ ECU mod over from the states to start with. Then I'll be looking to drop her 40mm or so. Maybe tint out the rear windows a bit more and get a new 'zorst. I was also thinking about getting new wheels, but tbh the only others I like are the Lex 18's. I also pulled a load of stereo gear out of my IS200 before I sold it...but not sure if I want to reinstall it in the 300 or not.
  21. ...Black IS300 :D First one I looked at was spot on. Paint work was almost perfect, interior was spotless, drove superb, just had cambelt done. Lovely jubly :P Spent 3hrs last night washing and claying it and a further 6 hours today polishing it with an orbital, correcting the swirls and waxing it using Dodo Juice. I think it was worth the effort tho...
  22. Desperate appeal: If anybody is able to go and give this motor the once over today I'll bung £30 straight in your bank/paypal account for the inconvenience. The dealer is asking for part payment of the car now as when it gets delivered their office will be closed and unable to process my card. Just nip over, say you're checking it over on my behalf, give the bodywork and interior a good looking over and take it for a run round block. I'll be forever in your debt.
