  1. I've heard conflicting stories tbh. Some people say that the UK fuel mappings are different to the USA models and as such the R-ECU will screw everything up, whereas SRT themselves say it'll be fine. Of course there's a big risk in buying as if it doesn't work you'd have to return all the way to USA before you could get a refund (and you cant use it without the R-ECU). My advice to you would be to buy the K&N FIPK v2 which gives the biggest gains from any 'standard' intake, doesn't suffer from heat soak (because its not made of metal) and if you buy a piggy-back ECU in future, can be tuned to give same/better results than the SRT intake.
  2. I've got a TTE front bumper and TTE rear valance (both genuine), but I have to admit i'm not a fan of the TRD side skirts much, so I'll be leaving that as-is. Cheers man. Yeah I got the alignment done at Elite who have a few of those super special Hunter machines or w/e their called. Cost me a fair fed bob to get done though as everything on all wheels was out :( Aye could go much lower if I wanted to, but I have to admit those pics of the side of the car don't really do the lowness any justice. The tops of the rear tyres are tucked under the arches when car is empty, and when the kids are in the back the tyres partially tuck under (which is a relief for et30 offset!). Also need to remember I'm running without a spare in the boot which was what made the car look like a cat that had be kicked up the arse previously. But overall I'm most happy with the ride quality now. The car sits flat no matter whether I be stamping on the gas or brakes and round corners the weight of the car stays fairly evenly distributed and the grip is massively improved. Whats even better is that with the damper settings on the coilovers set mid-way, it still feels much like the Lexus it did previously.
  3. Yeppers mate :D :D. I knew I was never going to be happy with the drop springs would give, so I just bit the bullet :P Funnily enough, even tho it looks like they would catch the arches, I've not seen or heard any signs of it yet and today I hit a LOT of varied size/shape speed bumps. The only problem I did have was going over a speed bump that had stupid f*king spikes coming out the top of it. I heard them scrape along the entire belly of the car :( welcome to my world lol..... how much did you drop it by? Well bearing in mind that I didnt have a spare wheel in the boot, the rear went down by 80mm and the front by about 50mm. Here's a few quick pixx...
  4. Better hope for no snow @ crimbo or the Mrs will bloody divorce me if the "car i bought" cant make it off the driveway :P Seriously though - it cant be any worse than a 2.8 capri in the snow :P

  6. Yeah will have to get some proper pics tomoz after its had a wash its a bit lighter outside :P Its a night and day difference tho. Especially as the rear has been dropped about 80mm and the front around 50mm
  7. May be a lon shot, but were any of you at Lakeside today in a Black IS 200/300? We crossed paths and gave each other a wave :P
  8. Yeah don't worry about them mate. Loads of websites out there use them and they can't get at any of your personal info (not that you should keep any of it on a forum).
  9. From this (rear).... To this (rear).... and from this (front).... to this (front).... Spent FAAAAR much more than I wanted to, but the ride...oh the ride makes it feel like a totally different car. I can throw it round corners now without worring about the Mrs falling out the door :P
  10. Yeah its unfortunate that this is how all companies operate. Deny deny deny, don't say sorry (because that's admitting the fault), make customer think it was their fault, hope it all goes away. I do hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction though mate.
  11. Think Rory might be referring to the 'intellitext' like adverts that underline certain words in posts with links to semi-relevant websites.
  12. For me it's quite slow, but not to the point where it annoys me. However, if the admins ever need any help with hosting then they can take this as an open invitation to chat with me. I host a fair few Invision / vBulletin boards along with several very high traffic websites using my own servers located in central London.
  13. Give the car a good few coats of wax, as its probably the last time you'll be able to properly clean the car in a few months. Also make sure to give your arches a good clean and get some wax under there too (with an old rag) to help prevent against road salts etc...
  14. I'd say spats too, but I do think that both need TRD side skirts in order to work properly. Without them they tend to disrupt the lines of the car.
  15. That's quite a shocking story Avista. I'm glad to hear that your quick thinking and the road conditions allowed you to get away from the ordeal unhurt. I suppose its easy to say these things in hindsight, but a better route may have been to get the car checked over independently by a couple of reputable garages and have them write down their diagnostics. This would be more than enough proof for it not to simply get 'brushed off' by Lexus, and if necessary take them to court. If that was me, I'm not sure I could bring myself to drive the same car again - especially with family in the car too. It may sound very 'american' of me, but I'd probably be looking to take legal action against Lexus if only to show how serious I was about what had happened. It's not right for them to just get away with this kind of thing, and at the very least I think you deserve some form of compensation for what happened. Nobody should ever be in a situation where they need to take evasive action against their own car putting its passengers at risk.
  16. Well not quite that 'modified', but its got new cams + gears, intake, coilovers...etc and will soon have a new manifold and throttle body. So just wanted to make sure I didn't get it allt he way down there for them to turn me away.
  17. Thats good to know. Does the 60k service involve anything other than the pump/belt that could be costly (or that an independent may miss)? Also am I right in saying that its best to ask for fully synthetic oil?
  18. Hi Guys, Situation is that I've got my 60k service coming up soon and I'm wondering if Lexus will accept my car given that it's got a fair few engine mods. I already had the water pump and belt changed when I bought the car (at 56k) so I don't think it needs a -specialist- service, which makes me lean towards just getting a reputable local garage to do the service. What do you guys think?
  19. Anything but Back to Black imo. As soon as it rains it makes your car look like a woman crying through mascara.
  20. If you can undo a few screws and plug something in, then you can install the Grom tbh. Only thing you need to be careful of is when you remove the headunit, make sure the area around it is covered in masking tape so you don't get any scratches on your dash area. I'd never pulled anything apart on a car before and managed to get it installed + hidden away in about 30 mins.
  21. I've been looking for some good wheel protection as it goes. I noticed AG do some products, anything you can recommend? I've currently got them protected with EGP - not sure how it'll work out tho. Time will tell.
  22. My process is a bit like this: Exterior (once every 3 months) 1) Jet wash car to remove all loose dirt. 2) Spray wheels with Dodo Juice wheel cleaner and leave to work magic 3) Wash car using 2 bucket method with Dodo Juice Supernatural Shampoo and deep pile wash mit. 4) Use 'sheeting' method to remove suds and prevent water spots. 5) Dry car using 'patting' method with a large Dodo Juice Supernatural towel. 6) Clay car with Merguiars clay kit and detailing spray as lube. 7) Wash car again (as above) 8) Use Dodo Juice Lime & Prime on my rotary polisher to remove any swirling. 9) Check swirling using a 3M 'Daylight Gun' 10) Hand polish using Autoglym Super Resin Polish 11) Apply Extra Gloss Protection sealant 12) Hand wax using Autoglym High Def wax 13) Dress all blacks with a protective sealant (not black to black crud). 14) Dress tyres with silicone liquid and a paint brush 15) Clean all windows with AutoGlym Fast Glass Then once a week I will.. 1) Jet wash car to remove all loose dirt. 2) Spray wheels with Dodo Juice wheel cleaner and leave to work magic 3) Wash car a section at a time (roof, bonnet, boot, drivers side, passenger side) 4) Dry car a section at a time using AutoGlym Aqua Wax (f***ing awesome stuff) 5) Clean all windows with Fast Glass. Interior Interior hardly ever needs cleaning as I've always got paper mats on the floor (covering the normal Lexus mats) and a no eating policy! However, in order to keep it fresh: 1) Once every 3 months use Gliptone leather cleaner on all leather. 2) Once a month use Gliptone leather conditioner (to keep it supple) 3) Polish all surfaces with Dodo Juice Supernatural Trim Gloss 4) Shake out mats, replace paper floor mats (once a week). Here's the result:
