Hello Shepherd, I went for a set of Philips HID kit which is one of the best hid kits manufacturer. That would be a good set up plus the calipers have 4 pots. On a thread at the Braking section there is a guy that changed the standard discs and calipers with the ones from the is350 and he is also mentioning that the same calipers are also in the GS300. Do you know what year have to be the GS300 calipers so that they fit directly on the 220d without the need of custom brackets? Hi Steve, I'm kind off stuck with the after market parts from my previous car that I always want to change whatever goes with upgraded parts.

You would need to change the discs also if you fit the 350 calipers, yes? Are the rear calipers of the 350 any better than the 220d?

Hi could you explain why did you divert the whole circuit to the turbo? All is very simple. In a collector the gage pressure\vacuum is established. When you release a pedal, egr Is opened on 100 % and is closed air valve as on 100 %. Pressure falls to certain parameter. If simply to establish a plate that parameter it will be too small - result check vsc. If submit air from turbo we can't to receive vacuum in a collector! I have egr closed for over 5 days and there are not any errors on VSC. For sure if you remove that circuite and just close the valve you will also see that VSC won't trow error. But it is a matter of personal choise I think. My front and rear brake pads are on their limit and I want to replace them with some aftermarket ones. The options I have are the following: Brembo pads front £64.09 and rear £27.48. No pad model description. EBC pads front £35.99 and rear £33.99. Model "Ultimax". Ferodo pads front £34.99 and rear 29.99. Model "Premier". Mintex Pads front and rear 69.99. No model description. On my other car I have the EBC Green stuff pads but the bedd in mileage was too high, it took me almost 1500 miles and the squeaking was extermely loud when stopping at traffic lights etc. so I don't think I will go again for them. Any experiences or advantages and disadvantages with the brands previously mentioned or maybe any other pads I should consider, will help me decide. Cheers G.T.

Hello Tani, I'm interested in blocking the valve but when i cleaned it for the first time a couple of months ago i saw that there is a solenoid opening and closing the valve I guess when it's necessary. If i understand well there has to be some sensor telling the ECU to open or close the valve but if you block it this sensor will somehow notice it. Please monitor it for a few days and let me/us know if there are any issues. I hope there aren't any problems because it would be great to get a bit of more power with such a simple modification. I can feel a rattling coming from the engine BAY when the rpm reaches 1500 - 1700. That happens even if the rpm rises and passes from that point or slowing down from a higher rpm number. Does anybody knows how many engine mounts there are in the 220d? Does the 220d have the same engine mounting points as the 250? Thanks G.T.

Hi mackie, I bought an IS 220D 3 months ago coming from the Alfa Romeo's world or unreliability. I have also been trying to find a good OEM supplier and in other thread I also asked about parts/prices but I didn't get the feedback I thought I would get. Anyway, through a lot of search I found this site www.epc-data.com. Just type in your chassis number or find your car through the options and browse the categories for the part you need. The price I got for a OS wheel hub is 211 euro while my local dealer is asking 491 euro plus VAT..... Rgds George

I got a shock when I called the local Toyota/Lexus dealer asking for a quote for the front and rear bearing hubs. Front Right: 491 euro Front Left: 420 euro Rear right/left: 401 euro Glad I was sitting and had a glass of water next to me... The strange thing is that there is a different part number for the front ones. Left front wheel hub: Part number, 4356030010 Right front wheel hub: Part number, 4355030020 Is it because there is an ABS sensor in just one of the two (right one) or there is a sensor in each? What else would differ on a wheel hub from one side to the other? Does anybody know if the sensor can be removed from the hub and installed on the new one? Any information in regards to hubs would be highly appreciated. Thanks George

Or I guess the other option would be to buy a double back box for the IS 250 and cut the left hand side box and block it's outlet at the point where it splits as per attached pic.

I have been searching around for a while but I cannot find any aftermarket back box for my 220d. I would appreciate if somebody enlighten me if are there any? I don't want to fit the dual exhaust from the 250, I want to keep it as much original as possible and as quiet as possible. Many will agree that the 220d backbox is rather ugly, compared to some diesel audis with the twin chrome pipes. I'm actually thinking of buying a simple 3" chromed, rolled tail pipe of ebay and after chopping the bended pipe of the original exhaust weld this on just sticking a couple of centimeters outside the bumper cut. To complete that I will paint the rest of the back box with black matt high temp. paint. 3" chrome tail pipe Any comments, feedback will be highly appreciated. Would that be chavish....? Rgds George

Hello fellow Lexus owners, a couple of days i noticed a sound like rumbling coming from outside the car (06, 220d, 98k miles). It is mainly noticable when driving over 60-50 km/h but not at all when driving at lower speed. The noise doesn't go away when I press the clutch pedal so i believe it is not related to the differential. Could this be one of the wheel bearings? Is it common for them to fail at such mileage? I have installed a 6000k philips hid kit at the low beam and now thinking of installing a kit also at the fog lights. I just would like to get your opinions as to what would be better. JDM style 3000k yellow or 6000k the same as the low beam? Thanks for any comments. Rgds George

My 220D SE came with halogen bulbs but I have retrofitted a high quality Philips HID kit. Initially I powered the ballasts from the plus/minus cables within the headlight and the light output wasn't that good. Now I have installed a relay harness which gets power directly from the battery terminals and I have to say the difference is huge. search in ebay for "relay harness kit". Rgds George
