  1. I'll get the dealers warranty but I guess it's pretty much worthless (much like a Vectra really ) I think I upset them when I asked if they had kept the old Lex dealers plates and could put them back on the car rather than the brand new shiny Vauxhall ones ! I'm slowly going off this car . . . dunno.
  2. Ha yeah. I'm a Goldie on TOC. Will go Gold here when I find the right car.
  3. It's up at £13995 so I'm expecting to get about £500 off making it around £13500. Puts it about £1000 under Lexus main dealer. If I don't go for it do you want the details ?
  4. A few quick questions I’d like to run past you guys – basically I’m heavily searching for an IS and have found one from a non Lexus (main Vauxhall) dealer. Black SE Auto, 1 owner, 36 000 miles, 2001 Y plate. FLSH. It’s priced well but I have the following niggles – any feedback appreciated: 1. There are no tools in the boot (wheel brace, jack etc. – should there be ? 2. 2 of the alloys are slightly pitted – will Lexus replace / refurbish under warranty? (car will be 3 years old in May) 3. The CD player has the slot in the top – is this the right way round (I remember bottom slots can cause err3 or is it the other way round) 4. It has done 36k so the 40k service will be due shortly – ideas of cost ? Really appreciate your help – I could probably answer all this with some searches but I’m short of time so looking for quick answers – Thanx.
  5. BTW - like these - any info ?
  6. Update: Car 1 has been sold (and not to me !).
  7. Right . . . which of these then . . (I've put them in 'my' order of choice but would like to hear your views. All Lex approved, Exmoor interiors and priced before haggle: 1. 2000 W 23 000 miles Auto SE Granite Sky £12 995 2. 1999 V 56 000 miles Auto SE Black + Body Kit £12 295 3. 1999 V 50 400 miles Auto SE Black £12 495 4. 2000 X 53 000 miles Auto SE Granite Sky £12 850 5. 1999 T 58 000 miles Auto SE Granite Sky £12 995
  8. ahhh . . probably didn't suss that on the test drive. Ta.
  9. I like the seat quite upright which is probably my problem.
  10. Had test drive today. happy with everything except head room - adjusted seat to lowest position and still had head against roof lining - I'm only 'bout 5' 10'' - hmmmm . . anyone else feel head room is a bit tight ? Oh boot was rubbish as well with those intrusive arches but not worried about that. Might just have to live with the head room.
  11. So . . . couple of questions . . Does anyone know in what year / plate the dash changed from the 'two tone' gold type to the more solid style ? Also side bags - older models seem to have a plastic section on the side of the seats - when was this tidied up ?
  12. Hi all I'm a Gold member on TOC and I'm currently considering an IS. I have posted here a long time ago but I now anticipate being back fairly regularly - esp. after find the right car. Anyway . . . bound to need some Q's answered as the search goes on so hope you can all help. Oh - need p/x before anyone with cars for sale starts replying with 'buy mine' etc.
  13. Assume you have seen the merchandise at this place: http://www.lexus4you.com/ Not my idea of great stuff but a starter for ideas perhaps.
  14. He he Me too ! Mk111 Cortina (2.0) in bright orange. Twin webbers and after market alloys (can't remember the make). Since then a variety of poorly built Fords until 1999 when I got first company car, Peugeot 406 LX oil burner Then got a Carina and finally new Yaris - both good cars but theres room on the drive for an IS . . .
  15. Budweiser will shortly be using bill boards showing rival drink bottles with the strap line 'King of Bling' As they like to be known as 'King of Beers' the concept is that the competitors drinks are flash looking and fancy but not actually any good as a decent drink. I'm not convinced that the word has gained wide enough acceptance yet for the promo to work but I might be wrong - kids in my 4 year old daughters class use it so perhaps it is more wide spread than I thought.
  16. David Brent - “This is the accounts department, the number bods. Do not be fooled by their job descriptions, they are absolutely mad, all of ‘em. Especially that one, he’s mental. Not literally of course, that wouldn’t work.” “I’ve created an atmosphere where I’m a friend first, boss second. Probably entertainer third.” “I don’t look upon this like it’s the end, I look upon it like it’s moving on you know. It’s almost like my work here’s done. I can’t imagine Jesus going ‘Oh, I’ve told a few people in Bethlehem I’m the son of ***, can I just stay here with Mum and Dad now?’ No. You gotta move on. You gotta spread the word. You gotta go to Nazareth. And that’s, very much like...me. My world does not end within these four walls, Slough’s a big place. And when I’ve finished with Slough, there’s Reading, Aldershot, Bracknell, I am my own boss. I can wake up one morning and go ‘Ooh, I don’t feel like working today, can I just stay in bed?’ ‘Ooh, don’t know, better ask the boss.’ ‘David can I stay in bed all day?’ ‘Yes you can David.’ Both me, that’s not me in bed with another bloke called David.” “People see me, and they see the suit, and they go: “you’re not fooling anyone”, they know I’m rock and roll through and through. But you know that old thing, live fast, die young? Not my way. Live fast, sure, live too bloody fast sometimes, but die young? Die old. That’s the way- not orthodox, I don’t live by “the rules” you know. And if there’s one other person who’s influenced me in that way I think, someone who is a maverick, someone who does that to the system, then, it’s Ian Botham. Because he will happily say “that’s what I think of your selection policy, yes I’ve hit the odd copper, yes I’ve enjoyed the old wacky backy, but will you p**s off and leave me alone, I’m walking to John O’Groats.’’ “How old would you say I was, if you didn’t know me?” “Forty?” “No. How old do you think I look?” “er, thirty-nine?” “Most people think I look about thirty.” “Definitely not.” “Oh, are you calling them liars? What do you think?” “erm, between thirty and forty?” “Yes. More honest.” “Trust, encouragement, reward, loyalty... satisfaction. Trust people and they’ll be true to you. Treat them greatly, and they will show themselves to be great.” “Life is just a series of peaks and troughs. And you don’t know whether you’re in a trough until you’re climbing out, or on a peak until you’re coming down. And you never know what’s round the corner. But it’s all good. ‘If you want the rainbow, you’ve gotta put up with the rain.’ Do you know which ‘philosopher’ said that? Dolly Parton.
  17. Is a Lexus bath just a posh Toyota basin ?
  18. This company provide baths in official Lexus paint colours. Is it just me or is this a bit OTT. http://www.nikegroup.co.uk/news.php?step=1&newsid=36
  19. I suppose they valet it every week and give you CD's to play as well !
  20. Any jobs going at your firm then ? You are a lucky boy. Jealous - me ? Well - recently got my firm to do the sums for me - assuming you are blessed with a 40% income tax burden then the manual IS 200 SE would cost you £2406 per year in company car tax based on it's CO2 emissions of 233. If the company pay your private fuel as well you can add on another £1728 giving you a monthly sting of £344. You can borrow the money, pay the interest and own it at the end for that sort of wedge. BTW - assume you have had a look at Woodford (although I don't think they have a great rep anyway).
  21. yes im the evil one of the family my sisters used to say i had 666 embossed on my scalp as a kid and I used to be evil to them etc thats older sisters for you i guess. so i got the plate as a joke you little devil sorry I'm a wandering
  22. You wanted to have '666' in your registration ?
  23. He he . . . knew some of you would remember these - and thanks for the ones I had forgotten as well - don't recall cabana bars though (?). Anyway 'nuff of this mindless reminiscing I'm off down the pub - pint of Double Diamond anyone ?
