  1. Some good advice here guys thanks!

Well Ive come to the conclusion that the Black/Red with 47k miles is a bit overpriced - they're arent willing to play ball past £22k which I think is a bit ridiculous - may as well extort customers!

When I asked why their car was so expensive - their reply was "Cars in London are generally more expensive" to which I replied "so surely the price of your new cars are higher too then?". He didn't know what to say!

    Anyway - the search continues.......

UPDATE - Just put an offer in for the White/Red IS300h in Chester. Will see what comes of it.

  2. That's a stupid idea. Completely missed that! They probably think it'll eat 300h sales

Lexus GB and stupid in the same sentence ;)

I don't understand it. So what if it eats into 300h sales, they still make a sale and if it is priced like the NX they will make more margin on the 200t than the expensive hybrid. Given that the IS200t is coming to the UK there isn't even the argument around cost of having to train mechanics and keep additional spares etc.

I've been told there isn't a market for it. Screw that, I'd buy it straight away if it was the same price or even higher than the GS 250.

It'd be a great engine for the GS! 7.2s is pretty good going for a luxo barge and I can't imagine fuel economy being that bad

  3. I was told over the weekend a factory order (ie not in stock) would be three months. Whether I believe them is another question. That was an h premier spec at an astonishing £45k. In reality I think luxury with a few extras at 38k is more what we'd do.

You'll probably all laugh but the alternative is the jeep Cherokee. Also 38k and similar spec regarding toys and tech. Obviously diesel rather than hybrid.

Jeep are offering discounts too but the residuals will be worse. Swings and roundabouts...

No discounts given I'm assuming? 3 months isn't that long tbf. My brother in law waited 2 years for an A5 in 2009 in black with cinnamon leather lol

  4. Gents . . . it's 2015. We're talking about a "Premium SUV" from one of the world's alleged best car makers. And I am suposed to jump-start my car like its a 1965 Ford Anglia - or ask the pvalet-parking company to jump start it so they can bring it to the airport?

No . . . they have to do better than that. Until they fix this, I have to go back to gas-guzzeling non-hybrids. I have not yet tried the new Mitsubishi which looks as good as the new Grand Cherokee. Either way, the Lexus sadly has to go. Unreliability in a £50K car is not acceptible.

1 - yes it's 2015. Not sure if you realised but the RX450h has been out for 6 years and a new RX is coming out this year so we aren't talking about a new car here.

2 - the 450h does not suffer from these Battery problems. I've left my car for 4 weeks every winter for the last 3 years and it starts fine.

3 - you're plucking figures out of the sky. The 400h wasn't anywhere near the region of £50k, the current RX is and its the most reliable car in its class - period - no ifs no buts, it just is. If there was a major issue, we'd know about it as Lexus sells 100k RXs annually in the US alone

An RX400h SE L cost £43,000 in 2005. With inflation, that is equivalent to £56,000 today.

You cant factor inflation into a cars price. An RX400H then wouldnt sell for £56k now simply because it wouldn't be able to compete with other contenders around that price. They would have to leave the price the same if they tried selling it in 2015 or reduce it

Besides, an RX400H SEL has no powertrain difference to the base model. Claiming it's a £43k car isn't fair as that includes options. It's essentially a £35k base car + added trim

  5. OK just for the sake of clarity:

    July 2013 Celestial Black IS300h F-Sport - 47k miles - Rose red leather + Premium Nav

Its going to be my wife's car, she covers about 3-4k miles a year so the warranty will probably run out quicker than the car hits 60k miles.

Having had a chat with the dealer, they're prepared to take £22k + they'll do the service. I guess that's still pretty high considering a IS300h can be had for £1-2k more with significantly less mileage. Id probably say £20k with the service and delivery - CBA going to London to get it! (CAP book says between £19-21k so i'd say £20k is reasonable.

  6. Completely AGREE

UK car insurance is a complete rip off. I got hit by another driver on a car 3 years ago yet my insurance goes up. When queried, they say im at a higher risk - now how does that work exactly?!

Utterly idiotic excuse to raise prices and make consumers pay more. I had a Corvette insured in the US $20 for a month!

  7. Contd

To be fair he put me in his own car while mine was being repaired as we were going on holiday for the week.

However they still could not give me the instructions for the ipod & I've had issues with the sat nav.

After reading the manual I have no GPS signal so I have to return it again for them to sort out.

I got it from the dealers to avoid this sort of hassle.

    Si

Which dealer? Ideally you would need to get in contact with Lexus UK which should hopefully give you the quickest solution.

Sometimes the dealers tend to play it out to see if you get bored or deal with the damage - getting in touch with Lexus UK should get the ball rolling.

  8. My local tyre firm stock Nexen tyres - Korean, they are, the tyres, the not the people at the local tyre firm. They told me that Nexen are the only tyre they will stock and fit at are not one of the bribing brands. Apparently, they are very old and quite affordable £84 approximately fitted for my rx300.

Could easily just mean that they make the most profit on them though? My local firm only stocks Michelins, continentals and hankooks!

  9. except Toyota Europe/GB aren't bringing the 200t to the UK :(

    World reveal at Pebble Beach

The new look GS was unveiled today with the world debut of the new GS 200t at Pebble Beach in California, in the lead-up to the resorts Concours dElegance this Sunday. The new model, featuring Lexuss 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, is being introduced in selected markets later this year.

This model is not scheduled for sale in the UK; details of the revised GS range in the UK will be announced in September.

That's a stupid idea. Completely missed that! They probably think it'll eat 300h sales

  10. So the facelifted GS is upon us. Its also coming with the 2.0l Turbo from the NX but with 241hp and 0-60mph in 7.2s

    15-08-13-2016-lexus-gs-exterior-00009.jp

Some new features include panoramic view monitor, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert etc etc

5 new colours will also be available including Sonic white, Mesa Red (I assume its replacing Crimson Red), Nightfall mica, Caviar and Azure Blue (F-Sport)

Rose Red will replace the Garnet Red in F-Sport models and a choice of new interior colours will be available for Luxury and Premier models

  11. Thats a stonking price BUT -

XL? Completely unneeded on the Lexus RX - XL basically means stiffer sidewalls = worse ride comfort

Personally, Id go for the Michelin Latitude Tour HP in 235/55 r19 101v fitment, firstly because I have them and they're really good tyres, others also have them and highly recommend them and they are standard fitment in the US where they value a quiet, long life tyre with good comfort.

  12. Our 450h is driven without any thought for fuel consumption - not thrashed just used and enjoyed as it should be - lots of town stuff plus some faster stuff too - all in all we get around 31mpg which as Rayaan said is more than reasonable for the size, weight and performance of the vehicle. The EU tests are a nonsense and Lexus cannot be blamed for just doing what every other manufacturer does. We owned a ML320 diesel for two years - our average mpg was 21. Prior to that a Merc C180 petrol which only averaged 26mpg. I also have. An ISF so I know what low fuel consumption can really feel like but for me the RX is really good all round mix of comfort, pace and economy. Forget about trying to get 44mpg - life is too short - just enjoy what a great car

    you have purchased.

I agree, I don't try and get good MPG but Im still impressed with the RX as it does achieve some brilliant figures. Does more MPG on the motorway than my wifes Merc C220

  13. You are paying for the marble flooring, the 'free' coffees, and the massaging of your ego.

Not exactly - I paid £990 for 3 services - 2 majors and a minor as I paid for the 10k one myself so have 20,30 and 40k in the plan.

What you pay for is - if something gets botched up, they'll fix it immediately - not like the independents who sometimes refuse to say they've caused it. Also, you get the hybrid healthcheck included free which is ESSENTIAL for the hybrid warranty + they take care of your car - ive had 3 services, an MOT and a full tyre change - not a single scratch on my car. I went into the work area and they cover the whole car with cloths including the interior to make sure they dont get it dirty.

Having said that - if you have a car over 5 years old you may as well go for Lexus Essential Servicing which is cheaper than the full Lexus service.

  14. Normski - I think you've summed it up there nicely. I thought the Macan rode beautifully on air suspension / PASM, but indeed, the RX has bags of comfy 'waft-ability. :)

Well £70k is the top of the range Premier though so other versions are going to be cheaper. Im predicting the Luxury version to be about £60k.

However, I wonder what the 200t pricing will be! NX200t is slightly more expensive than the 300h, due to more performance I think. The RX450h has more performance than a 200t so Id expect the 200t to be about £3-5k cheaper

I guess you could go to Porsche but no Porsche SUV looks as good as that RX - period! Actually, I think its the best looking SUV in the segment - bags of presence!

  15. Hmm torque steer is no worse than the NX. Even then, it's only when you're pelting it on the motorway or something. Hasn't really been an issue for me, Im used to cars with very heavy steering so its no problem for me to hold onto the steering wheel a little tighter.

Lexus employees already been to Austria and agree the new RX is miles ahead dynamically compared to the 3rd gen. Quality of the interior is on par with RR. Should be good to see for myself but I doubt they'd just make that up and disappoint customers.

The 200t is an interesting proposition. Should be plenty quick at 8-ish seconds and that torque figure is identical to the RX350 so will feel quicker. Add weight savings and a cheaper price and it may even be the pick of the range?

  16. Yeah by the way , those wheels on the Luxury spec will be available as a no cost option on the Premier but not on the F Sport.

Damn..... One thing keeps coming back to me and it's that price! Id pay up to £60k for new F Sport but £70k is £10k more!!!

I've just paid £15k in fees and accommodation for my son at Uni too last year!! Got another 4 years of that to pay :/

Essentially that means I'm probably getting an ex demo

  17. The full brochure will be released in late September for the full October launch. I've only got the brochure that was distributed to the US/UK/Japan dealers. Nothing much in there apart from glossy pictures and dimensions etc. The brochure with the price list was TBC and it's been confirmed anyway by someone at Brussels HQ.

    OK good to know cheers.
