  1. I agree that the styling of the F is better than the Premier but i went for the Premier as i wanted ALL the toys. The one thing that i really didn't like about the F was the black interior - black seats, black floor and even black roof lining. Just too much. Anyway, it sounds like it's OK in the snow. :hohoho:
  2. Has anyone driven their NX in the snow yet? I would really like to know how the NX copes with the snow.
  3. i was going to say the same as Colin, check the recirculate switch. On another note, i didn't know that you could switch the S-flow off or is that just another name for climate control?
  4. yes, 13-14 mpg is a tad low even in the cold and driving around town. I assume your GS is the same as mine was and the mpg resets everytime you fill up. If you fill up when the engine is cold the average starts very low and, in my experience, stays low - very low. I know it sounds like nonsense but if you fill up with a warm engine prior to a decent run then the average starts high and stays high - well highish. Keeping the car in the garage makes a huge difference this time of the year. The good thing is that petrol is relatively cheap these days.
  5. I can't disagree there, you really do need a feather touch for the EV! On that sort of commute you wont be able to use EV for too long anyway as the batteries will have no chance to charge up. i love your calculations - you really have thought of everything
  6. You must be gutted Andy - 31.5 mpg isn't very good is it? Hope you don't mind me making some obvious comments/questions. Do you reset the trip computer every time you fill up? Is the car kept in the garage? Do you leave it in "normal" mode? Trying to drive on eco all the time doesn't actually help consumption as you will be pushing the car all the time. I try and use the EV mode as much as i can around town. That helps a lot. On the motorway i try to squirt and coast if you get what i mean. Failing that Buckinghamshire must be hillier than i thought!
  7. My NX is comfortably returning 38-40 mpg now on the sort of routes that my old GS 300 would do 30-32. i am happy with that as i know when i first had the GS i was lucky to get into the high 20's. I am off to Leek (North Staffordshire) tomorrow so might get the chance to try it out in a bit of snow!
  8. I am really pleased that it worked out for you as when i tried a new exhaust system for my 2008 GS 300 it was a total failure and threw myself on the mercy of Lexus Birmingham to put it right. I won't bore you with the full story but i was fed up of having a 3 litre engine that no-one could hear. The new non-lexus exhaust sounded awful on accelaeration - more like my nan groaning as she gets out of the chair than a muscle car! I used a company in Walsall, MIJ, for the stainless steel exhaust and have no complaints about them but it just wasn't for me. I can't remember the exact prices now but i spent about £500 at MIJ and £600 at Lexus to put it back to where i started. All i can say is caveat emptor.
  9. congratulations Moe_ Great looking car. You do realise though that all your friends will want you to do the driving.
  10. Review of the NX300h Premier in the Sunday Times today by somebody called Clarkson, "Who cares if it’s slow? It’s got more toys than Hamleys"
  11. I agree with Chris and would have had Lexus have a proper look at it first - then negotiate. I think Lexus are being very fair
  12. My experience is the same as Steve's: I have always been able to negotiate the price and have hardly ever paid anything extra. This has included some things outside of the warranty and on one occasion they even threw in some free wipers. My impression is that the service plan is through the dealer so the costs will vary a tad. It isn't as though it is a standard plan through Lexus. I'm sure the service plan is a bit of a con as there has to be something in it for the dealer but it gives me some peace of mind. I don't know why as it isn't as though i would have to go and mug a granny to pay for the Lexus to be serviced if i didn't have a service plan.
  13. Well, I have done all of 500 miles now. I could have done more miles but that would have involved going shopping with the other half so I passed up that opportunity. As i have reached the 500 mile landmark I decided to try the sport setting going to work today. I was pleasantly surprised by the performance and very surprised at the frequency that the EV mode kicked in. It didn't make any major difference to the MPG as I started the journey on 38.4 and finshed on 38.6 mpg
  14. I know this is really sad but i was quite pleased with the 12v power socket in the boot. I haven't used that yet but i am sure it will be really useful
  15. I had to drive for 35 miles with the b.... thing beeping at me everytime i went over 20. Don't ask me how I did it but i managed to set the speed limit alert at 20 when i was fiddling around trying to change the disc that was playing on the USB. I know my other half always tells me to read the instructions, but where's the fun in that? I thought women were supposed to like a man with a sense of danger! :D :D :D
  16. The estimate of your range will never be spot on as there are so many variables. I wouldn't worry too much about the consumption just yet as the car will need a few more miles on the clock to loosen up and it's the wrong time of year. I wouldn't bother about the eco setting too much either (especially on the motorway) and just keep trying it in normal. This is the first time i have driven a hybrid and i am having to adjust my driving style but i am getting there. I quite enjoy the challenge of beating my last mpg. I haven't got as bad as my dad yet who always used to keep a book of his mpg. In those days you didnt have a trip computer so he would sit there and work it out everytime he filled the car up with petrol. It'll get better AndyMJ but it will never be 55 mpg. Just enjoy the rest of the car.
  17. You know, I often wondered why my neighbour always took off the end of his hosepipe when it came to rinsing his car. That makes sense now.
  18. Has anyone else had the joy of washing their NX yet? I was well prepared for cleaning a vehicle bigger than my old GS but i wasn't prepared for it having more nooks and crannies than a victorian dresser! I can usually dry the car with one drying cloth but it took 3 today and i still wasn't entirely satisfied. I will have to get used to this as i can't entrust this beauty to the balcan brothers hand wash or a mechanical wash. Another issue to be aware of is the fact that the doors go over the sills so a lot of dirt gathers at the bottom of the door. A casual car wash won't reach that area. I was tempted by the celestial black colour that AndyMJ has. It's a truly beautiful finish but it must be a devil to keep clean.
  19. At the moment i am getting just 39 mpg from NX300h Premier. I expect that to get better as i get used to the Hybrid, the car loosens up, and i stop sitting in various car parks showing off all the gadgets to my envious friends.
  20. I can't live without my ventilated seats now but what i really need as i get older and the bladder weaker is a commode!
  21. Hi Rayaan Thankfully not 60 yet - only 57. I know we are going slightly off topic but ...... We do have 5 cars at our house insured with Admiral though so that helps. My partner has a Fiat Panda and Fiat Coupe, my daughter has a Mini and i have the GS (until tomorrow) and a Suzuki Jimny. I bought the Jimny a few years ago as the GS is just so awful in the snow. I use the Jimny in the winter and store the GS and in the summer vice versa. I've already got a buyer for the Jimny so i am keeping my fingers crossed that the NX can hold its own in the white stuff!
  22. You just answered my other question that i didn't like to ask as it was a bit personal i.e.where are you if you aren't in the UK? I know nothing about Hungary but it isn't the sort of place where i imagine Lexus having a big presence
  23. Hi Michael Glad to hear that you are enjoying the NX. I am picking mine up tomorrow. Lexus just quoted me £432 for insurance which i thought wasn't bad but admiral quoted me £250. I'm not that good at maths but i think Admiral is a tad better! You'll have to let us all know how you are doing for MPG when you have had it a bit longer
