  1. I often think I am OCD (obsesseive car detailer) but I would never have thought of doing the prep of a new car myself. Even though I like your thinking Rayaan I won't be following your advice on this occasion. As for keeping the seats clean I have no worries there. My GS has a light interior (seats and carpets) but thanks to a plethora of autoglym products and no social life it is still remarkably clean. I am lucky that the kids have grown up but i have a cocker spaniel with a skill in shaking mud everywhere to challenge my car valeting skills
  2. 6 days to go. I have arranged to collect my new NX300h Premier (sonic titanium with Ivory interior) from Lexus Birmingham on the 26th. Which gadget shall I try out first? I'm thinking heated steering wheel!
  3. I know it is an unusual forum isn't it? People are pleasant, polite and helpful. Very strange
  4. Does look that way doesn't it. I hadnt linked it with the other thread, "First Nx On Autotrader With Huge Inflation!" Very odd
  5. I agree that the GS should have twin pipes. There is a trend with car makers to hide tail pipes these days for some reason
  6. This topic is still a bit quiet and i still haven't seen one on the roads. How are IGB1 and Jonathon Smith getting on with their NX's as they picked theirs up in October? Mine should be at the dealership on 20th November
  7. I think Bodmeister is experiencing the same angst as me: ordering a new car and irritated that you haven't been able to negotiate much of a deal. I have been known to haggle over the cost of a haircut but i couldn't get them to budge on the NX Premier. I got a decent trade in price and a cheap service plan and that was that. It's always the same with a newly released car. I suspect that Colin is right and if you enquire the car wont actually be available. If anyone has been able to negotiate a good deal I for one don't want to know
  8. I agree that service plans dont guarantee a cheap service but i am sure it has helped me get repairs done for free which were actually out of warranty
  9. I had a service plan with the GS300 which was £40 a month but the car is coming up to 7 years old so some of those services were going to be the big ones! The new NX300h service plan is a lot better - they are quoting me £14.40. That sounds really good to me as i have just put the lawn mower in for a service and i reckon that will lighten my wallet by £100 In regards to the running costs don't they factor in depreciation which of course isn't very kind to the Lexus in its early years
  10. Ok, i know i am going off topic but what is Lexus OC as in "Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC" ?
  11. Hi Bodmeister, I think it is worth sharing the Parker's review you mentioned: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/lexus/nx/4x4 Many of the reviews for the NX are lukewarm to say the least but then reviews so often are for Lexus. I have had sleepless nights over my decision to purchase the NX but i am getting it to be more comfortable with it. I think the Parker's review puts all my concerns into context and the concerns are really minor at the end of the day. The NX is going to be more practical for me - the GS was never that practical. The only downside to the NX is that i think my other half will be able to drive it as it's so simple. She could never get to grips with the GS. Only another 15 days till the NX comes...........
  12. Thanks for the info Bodmeister. My NX is due on the 21st of November. I am dealing with Lexus Birmingham. I went to Stoke first but they were looking at March for a delivery. It's crazy really as i am in no rush as i use a suzuki Jimny in the winter and keep the GS in the garage whehn the white stuff is around. I think i just got a bit carried away with the desire to have a new car!
  13. Is there any chance that you could share with us where you got your balanced payment plan? i have just ordered an NX and it grieves me to say it but it wasn't my finest piece of negotiating!
  14. I totally agree about the ML stereo. It still amazes me that i hear things in the music that i had never heard before. That's a good point to bear in mind as well about the cost of servicing. It ain't cheap but you really dont want to be cutting corners on that one
  15. Sounds like a nice colour combo although maybe a tad hard work to keep clean, in and out.... I know what you mean but i do actually enjoy cleaning the car. I do no cleaning around the house but the car is a different matter all together. I thought the black leather just looked to funereal especially with the f sport as the roof lining is black as well
  16. I have ordered a 300h premier in titanium with the Ivory interior - mine should be ready 21st November. The gadgets are just amazing. I am slightly anxious about buying a brand new car as i do love my GS300 se-l but i dont love the fact that every petrol station in my area invites me to their christamas lunch and the £475 road tax. i went to a couple of garages and one had sold its quota already
  17. I agree with Stuno1 but even if you do only want a car to go to a-b then i would still rather do it in a lexus. I wouldn't worry about the age of the Lexus as the reliability is enough to make a mechanic weep. Go and have a look in the workshop at a lexus dealership: they are wonderfully clean as there is nothing going on there! Invest in some vanity number plates and no-one will know that the Lexus is more than a year old. Enjoy
  18. Welcome Norman. You've made a good choice. Much to the annoyance of the Chief Executive and Chairman of where i work my car is generally considered to be the best on the car park and i earn a quarter of what they do. They aren't the cheapest car to run but certainly not the most expensive. I average about 32 mpg so am happy with that - the road tax is the real killer! Get yourself some private plates and people will think you have come into some money. Have you thought about changing your profile name? "Sportage2" doesn't seem that apt anymore. :D
  19. Hi Addz, I had a cat back exhaust from MIJ for my GS300. At the moment the jury is out as to whether i like it or not. I had the stock set up as i am past being a boy racer but i was looking for a bit of noise when i put my foot down. When i start it up in the garage it sounds great and then i can hardly hear anything other than a sort of rumble which to be honest is giving me a bit of a headache. Then when i put my foot down it sounds more like a wasp in a jamjar. Certainly doesn't sound like a 3 Litre V6 in my opinion. Perhaps i was expecting too much and i may get used to it. If i don't i'm sure the scrap man will love my exhaust! I have only ever heard good things about MIJ and i thought £495 was a decent price. It's a long drive from Surrey to Walsall though if you want it done there. As they say on the investor forums, DYOR (do your own research). Good luck
  20. Hi, My 2008 GS300 had this problem when i had it serviced recently. Although it was out of warranty the dealer changed it for me.
  21. I have a similar problem with my GS 300. Did you ever find a solution to your problem? - One that didn't break the bank that is
  22. My GS300 used to do a very passable impersonation of a Blackpool tram at every opportunity. When it came time to replace the tyres i changed all 4 to Bridgestone and the handling was much better but was pulling to the right. I had the geometry done and it now goes in the direction that i want it to. The only negative now is that there is noticeable tyre noise whereas before it was like a library inside the car. Hope that helps.
