  1. Steve_M, I would keep on just gently, easing and tugging. If I recall correctly, those tabs have little barbs on them to secure them in the side wall. Argento
  2. Yes, "The shelf in the glove box lifts up from two slots in the floor and also to the right from from two slots in the left hand wall." The Owner's Manual says, pull up vertical tab first. Then pull the horizontal tab to the right. That's what I did. It worked. Argento
  3. normski2, aha! Right, I'll try that tonight when I'm out in the car. <...turn the wheel as far as you can (can't recall, left or right) until there is a gentle click.......> I must admit, I didn't try to force it past the first sign of resistance. <Always have to do this when there are ladies in the back ...> One of the guys on Club Lexus said something similar recently. Don't argue with the fairer s*x, if they say they are too hot or cold. Just change it to suit them. Life is too short, and dangerours, to argue! Argento
  4. normski2, we're wrong I think. <But you need to have the rear vents open..... > I've just had a closer look. We can't CLOSE those vents, can we? All we can do is change vertical and lateral direction, right? That's no good. The inside of the centre console will still get very cold. Argento
  5. < I renewed my warranty for a further 12months with Lexus Stockport. It covers cars with less than 100k on the clock and less than 10years old.> Hmmm... Sounds ok I'll have to give it more thought. Thanks bluenose and others. Argento
  6. I think we should forget worrying about and trying to fix our creaking dash boards. I've just come back from a tour of the Nissan Plant Sunderland. They fix their dash boards in 3 seconds! 4 seconds if its a tricky one. I know, I saw it today. The dash is pre-assembled of course. The robot puts it into the car and offers it up in its position. The operative whacks it forward with the heel of his hand. Two bolts, zip-zip done. The only way to get at things after that is to take it to pieces, bit by bit. We know all about that don't we? Great tour and insight into the most productive plant in Europe. Not sure if I'd like to work there though. I never saw anyone smiling :-) Argento BTW I saw a 13 plate Infiniti Q50 2.2D parked right outside the main entrance. "Glyn Hopkins"? St Albans supplied it apparently. Very nice looking in metallic grey. Looks _very_ similar to the new IS250 They are going to be made in Sunderland next year. They would not show me the production line in the plant where they are going to be made! So who made the car outside main reception - Japan?
  7. Steve_M & normski2, thanks for that. <But you need to have the rear vents open..... > Yes that makes a lot of sense. We had the a/c on all the time. I don't usually have it on all the time. I'll make sure I close those rear vents next time I'm in the car (unless I want to keep my drink cold of course!) Argento
  8. Hello and welcome. I'm a bit suspicious .. .... But I'll give if a go. Argento
  9. Can you control the temperature in the centre console (driver's left arm rest)? I put my iPhone and wallet in the centre console last weekend. I did a 700 round trip to the South East. When I took the wallet and iPhone out, they were freezing! The a/c was on for most of the time, 20C My car is the IS250 F-Sport MY11 Argento
  10. tonyricha, <Although this warranty is sold by and looks every bit Lexus it is underwritten by a entirely different company ....> Wow! By "this warranty", are you referring to the one sold by Lexus/Lexus dealers? Argento
  11. Yes, will do. Thanks. A Lexus Technician told me recently that breaking that filter tray trying to get it out could end up giving you a bill for £1200! It's attached to some other part of the HVAC, apparently. Argento
  12. normski2, I've done it. Great. Thanks for your help and support. The old filter was quite dirty after only 8k Argento
  13. normski2, thanks a lot. That seems easy. ... .... I'll try again tomorrow :-) Argento
  14. normski2, help please. <Piece of cake to check out. Make sure you set the system to 'recirculate' first. Open the glove box and ...> Not as intuitive as I expected. I can see how people can break the cover. <Slide up and out the oblong cover, ... > I can't see how that would work. How does it "Slide up"? Could you give me more details please? Thanks, Argento
  15. normski2, I went for the Wix one. Thanks for the suggestions. It has arrived and looks ok. I was a bit deflated though. The leaflet inside showed you how to fit it to a Yaris! Argento
  16. normski2, apologies for my question. I've just seen your <It was on offer from Euro Car Parts.... > :-( Argento
  17. normski2, thanks very much for this. Excellent. Sorry to you and the others for the delay in responding. I'll definitely have a go at doing it myself. <Got mine for £6.... > Are you able to say where you got this from? Argento
  18. Has anyone used a Lexus "Enhanced cabin air filter" ? If so, what differences have you noticed. Apparently, we have the choice of a "Standard cabin air filter" and an "Enhanced cabin air filter". Also, can these be easily inspected and replaced if necessary by the user (IS 250 F-Sport MY2011)? Argento
  19. Thanks chaps. That gives me the reassurance I'm looking for. "what has time got to do withit, I can’t think of many parts that would fail after just time and no use, it should be at least a 5 year warranty." I suppose the air con system might deteriorate faster by not being used? "Personally, I'd save the cash - I've not had to pay that much for a car repair/breakdown in 27 years of driving " Good point. Me too. And I'm probably older than you :-) "That's good. Audi warranty for a year is over 1k." Wow! When I had the Golf GTI MkV, I toyed with taking out a VW ew. Mainly because of the DSG. I kept it for over five years. No problems. I was lucky, I know. But maybe also because people like us who visit forums like this, look after our cars? Argento
  20. I've just had my MY2011 IS250 F-Sport serviced. First MoT too. I got a letter a couple of days later from the dealer. They are offering and 12 month extended warranty for £795 I nearly fell off my chair! I've had the car from new and its only done 21k Running better than ever at the moment. Is that extended warranty a good deal or are they having a laugh? Argento
  21. " -Route trace It is possible to store the travelled route up to 124 miles/200km and retrace the route on the display" Page 111 of my Navigation System Owner's Manual. IS 250 F-Sport MY 2011 Does anyone know in what circumstances you would want to retrace a route? I don't get it? BTW storing the route is a piece of cake. Argento
  22. sendz, <I don't know anyone at Nottingham sorry.> Ok < You get a blank USB stick .... .... > I'm glad I asked the question now. Because I don't understand how they do it? Has the blank USB stick got the licence code on it? If so, are you saying that the licence code gives the dealer permission to upload the update to your car? Argento
  23. sendz, re. the update. Do you actually get to keep the disc/USB stick when you pay £140 + VAT ? What exactly is the process? I don't want them messing things up! I've been meaning to get my maps updated for a while now. But I'm not sure if I'll be going to Nottingham to get it done, after reading these experiences! I got my car new from them in 2011 Do you know if Matthew Clarke, Sales still works there? Argento
  24. Is it safe and beneficial to use BG44K and AR6200 in petrol engines that are less than three years old and have covered less than 20,000 miles? Argento
