  1. Martin, <Hi. It is frustrating. Take a look at my post...All about the Sat Nav.> Can you let me have the link to your post please? Argento
  2. Platypus, thanks for that. I will follow it up. I did not know anything about this problem. You're right, it is more serious than the Bluetooth problem. < .... .. some of us can't drive at 1300rpm without the transmission threatening to rattle the car apart. > I can't stop reading this. Can't believe it? Nice to know you are getting on well with your Nexus 5 Argento
  3. Creo, < ... now I have averaged 33.4mpg in a mix of driving, ... > That looks about right. I get very similar to that with my IS 250 F-Sport. Easy to get 37+ on a long M-way run - even with a/c on. I'll still try some of that BG44K and AR6200 stuff soon though. BTW There's a big discussion on Club Lexus at the moment on carbonisation problems with IS 250s. Argento
  4. It wasn't me, <it might be worth buying it yourself and giving it to them to put in on your next service ,but only use reputable makes. > I'm up for that. Have you ever done that, at a Lexus dealer? If so, what was their reaction? As far as I know, supplying your own oil is standard practice in Germany, I'm particular. Argento
  5. I'm following this closely. Lexus UK better be following it as well. I'm not even going to sit in one in the showroom until I'm convinced this is sorted. I still can't believe customers are having this problem. Argento (Apple fan)
  6. On my IS250 F-Sport MY11 it is: press NAVI button/Map data It may have changed for the IS300h of course. Argento
  7. Yes, I've got to get to grips with Cloud on my Apple products. Argento
  8. Some great advice and tips here from Noby. I agree with all of them, especially the ECT tip. On < switch off your air con and only use when needed. > If you do want A/C on all the time. Try switching the A/C off a mile or so from home. The evaporator will remain cool during that distance (and thus still drying and cooling the air) even though the compressor is turned off. Argento (V-Power +Nitro all the time!)
  9. Bridgy and mille, I said that I'd let you know how I got on. I've opened a DropBox account. I transferred the file and iBooks picked it up, just like you said. Brilliant program. I wished I'd tried it earlier. BTW when I tried to transfer the file by attaching it to an email and send it from my pc to my iPad. I got a "file size limit exceeded" or similar error message. So I just Zipped it and then sent it to my Gmail account on my iPad. Great. No problem. Argento
  10. Bridgy, <If you look at page 399, the picture show the recirculate/external buttons just above the hazard button ! > Ok, got it. Thanks. We may have to create a new thread on this one, I suppose. Anyway in the meantime, there is no "AUTO" Air Intake Control buton, right? They've dropped it. My MY11 IS250 F-Sport, and the IS-F, apparently, have three buttons. Recirc, Auto and Outside (air) Argento
  11. Bridgy, right. Thanks. I'll study that. < ... if you get email on your iPad, just email it to yourself and then you should be able to simply open it in iBooks on the iPad.> Sent smaller of the two files ok. No problem. The big one came back with "not enough memory" or similar error message, on my Acer laptop (1.6GHz, 4Gb Memory and Intel i7-720QM Core processor - should be enough, I would have thought?) It was a big file though, I must admit. <Otherwise you can use iTunes, click the "Apps" tab in the top row, scroll down and you'll see "File sharing" section - choose your preferred ....> Worked. Brilliant. Lightning fast. Could not believe the speed, >4 seconds maybe. Delighted. Thanks again. I'll try the other methods you and mille suggested tomorrow. Argento
  12. Bridgy &mille, thanks very much. That does help. I've learned a lot there. I'll try all the suggestions. Then settle on the one that suits me. I like the posting an email idea. I've been wanting to open a Dropbox account - now's my chance to try it! That iTunes option looks good too. I'm lucky that we've got a nice MacBook Pro 15" Retina - I really do like using that as you can imagine. One way or another, I'm going to get there - thanks to you, both. I'll let you know how I get on. BTW I've looked at the Air Con bit in the new manual on my Acer laptop. Very interesting and useful. I'd say that it is better than the description given in my MY11 manual. But that's probably partly because I understand a bit more about a/c and cc now! I've noticed that they seem to have dropped the panel of three Air Intake Control buttons. Those buttons gave you the functionality of choosing Recirc/Auto/Outside, as you probably know. That functionality is still giving me a lot of trouble. That is, in understanding how they work and interact with each other. That's probably why they've dropped them. Not just because of me, you understand. Ha-ha I don't think anybody else cares, or understands them anyway. Argento
  13. mille, a bit off-topic I know. But could you tell me how to copy the two .pdf files from my laptop (Windows 7 Explorer) to my iPad? When I try to copy, I'm getting the error message: "Cannot copy item. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." Thanks, Argento
  14. Bridgy & mille, got them! Thanks. I'm going to enjoy immersing myself in them. I'm hoping they give a better description of the FM radio and Air Con & Climate Control systems. The guidance in my MY11 IS250 F-Sport Owner's Manual is poor. Argento
  15. Bridgy, thanks. Looks good. Tried to paste <https://customerport...ogin/index.html> In my Safari browser on iPad I got "server not found" message. What am I doing wrong ..... .....? Argento
  16. <Have you not thought have getting a set of winter tyres on a spare set of wheels that would save a lot of messing around> Yes, but I've been told that you've got to careful with the rim and tyre sizes. Overall wheel diameter is critical on our cars. They feed data to the many systems we have such as satnav, vsc, abs etc. etc. Argento
  17. I enjoyed reading that. Thanks. Like every other motoring journalist I've come across, he clearly doesn't know about using Sport mode, ECT and paddles together, to get the best out of the car. You'd think the Lexus Press Office would enlighten them, wouldn't you. Or is that expecting too much? Let's leave them in ignorance. Ha-ha Argento
  18. Steve, thanks. Gureat to feast your eyes on this. If you see any more, please post them. Argento
  19. <... But even during a 1 hr 30min drive by which time engine is fully warm, ...... > Mine too. Even after a long run. I quite like it. Tells everybody who cares, it's not a diesel! Argento
  20. Gaz31, <Do you think it is really necessary?> Probably not I suppose. Just nice to know you've got the latest version. When I've raised the subject with dealers before, they don't seem to be that interested. I got the impression not many owners went for an update. The company car lot probably would not be allowed to I suppose. After what Rileys1 is going through (Audio / Nav Frustration Started by Rileys1, Oct 12 2013 10:31 AM), it makes you wonder if the dealers are capable of not messing it up! <Your map would probably be 2010, .... > Yes, that's right. The "Map data" screen is showing: "Data: 2010 - 2011 Ver. 2 Grace note (CDDB) : Ver. 02421 Contact your dealer for the latest map information. " When I touch "Data update" on that screen, it gives: "Map data update Connect the device for updating. Updating the map involves a cost. This process cannot be cancelled after starting this operation. Pressing the 'I agree" button will start the update. " Pretty scary, don't you think? :-) Argento
  21. Gaz31, thanks very much. I believe mine is an HDD system. I've never seen a sat nav DVD I've had the car from new. That link is interesting isn't it. I didn't know that existed. Very slick. It gave me: "Please visit your local authorized retailer who will be happy to assist you if you wish to obtain an update for your system. To know whether an update for your system is available, please check your current map data and Gracenote Media Database versions by completing the next simple steps: To confirm the map data and Grace-note Media Database (CDDB) version push the "NAVI" button. Then touch the "Map data" icon on screen. Following screen appears : Data 2013-05-1 Gracenote (CDDB): Ver. 03754 " I think this is telling me that any date earlier than 2013-05-1, means that an update is available. Would you agree? I'll go out and have a look at the screen in the car tomorrow. It's looking like a dealer job isn't it? £180 ...... :~( BH Argento
  22. <I'm expecting my lexus in May so I hope all these tech glitches get sorted as I do need a fully working sat-nav/bluetooth/etc system.> I bet you do. So would I. I've been away from the Forum for a while. I was thinking about getting a new IS. I'm having second thoughts now! I can hardly believe what I'm reading. I'd be really upset if that was my car. The sat nav (and everything else associated with it) in my IS250 F-Sport MY11 is marvellous. I love it and can't fault it. What have they done to it? Argento
  23. I'm thinking again about getting update for my IS250 F-Sport MY2011 Can someone tell me how this update is carried out? Also. how much are the dealers charging? Argento
  24. <Do you guys always keep the air to recirculate in the cabin as is the default setting, > The recirculate feature is hugely important in all automotive a/c systems in particular. If you have the time, I suggest that you learn as much about it as possible. When the system is in AUTO mode, the a/c ECU is continually working out which is the optimum setting. That is, recirculate, outside air or even, a bit of both. Argento
  25. You're right, it's not an issue at all. The cabin is a much nicer and safer place to be with a/c ON than OFF. We like luxury. That's why we buy Lexus cars! The AUTO mode with AUTO AIR INTAKE activated is marvellous. IS250 owners are very fortunate I feel. Even recent RX400hs don't have that AUTO AIR INTAKE feature or indeed I understand, the 2-way air Intake control. By 2-way air Intake control, I mean the fuel economy feature, designed to either heat or cool the cabin as quickly and efficiently as possible. I understand why most people have AUTO a/c ON all the time. Convenience and comfort. Remember also that having the system ON all or most of the time must be less costly than having to replace parts if the system fails because of lack of lubrication i.e. the special oil that is carried in the refrigerant as it courses through the system.
