  1. Bh noby76, there's a lot to think about here. Thank goodness I've not got a diesel! Is that why they all sound so rough these days? :-) "over time, parts like fuel tank, injectors, dpf, catalytic convertors etc will start growing these living organisms from these(less additive) fuels resulting in various issues in .." Things growing in, and water in your fuel system? Oh boy. The things the garages don't tell you. .... noby76 comments are quite plausible IMHO They would seem to support the horror stories you see regularly see in the press now about suspect dodgy fuels affecting engines I think. Argento
  2. Yes, I can see how that would work. Thanks. Is that the one and only reason? Argento
  3. Ok. Thanks. "... ...I'll swear he nearly waved! " Blimey ..... ! Argento
  4. I know normski2 is on holiday. But I could not stop myself posting this question. His wife will kill me :-) Page 71 of The NS Owner's Manual says: "There are 2 ways to search a destination by address. inputting a street name selecting a town to search" In what circumstances would you use either of these? Why do they give you a choice? I have read and re-read it. I don't get it. Argento
  5. Thanks for the update. All good, interesting and useful stuff. Since you first posted. I've realised just how precise, and quick, this telno method would be. Brilliant. I've previously ignored the option. I'd thought it was bit of gimmick! "... pay link numbers" What are these? I don't get out much! And certainly not to France :-) Do you think there would be a problem where locations you want to find use mobile numbers? As you know, folks sometimes change these quite regularly "Also, I'm running Bridgestone potenzas....over here the car is much much quieter." That's because of their road surfaces, right? Or is it because you're driving too slowly :-) I've still got the factory fitted Potenzas on mine too. I'm very pleased with them as well. Argento
  6. "On Hols in France at the mo." Good for you. Hope you're having a nice time. Thanks for the telno tip. Very useful to know. I'll try that soon. Pleased to hear that the satnav is good abroad too. Argento
  7. ChumpusRex, ronsis & noby76, thanks very much for all this. Things I didn't know about octane rating, ecu and compression rating. Thanks for that, in particular, noby76 " Hope that makes sense. It's not a simple topic." You can say that again! But that's what makes us get out of bed in the morning isn't it? I'm going to my very quiet room again later to read all this information and advice and inwardly digest! Argento
  8. ChumpusRex, a question please. You said "... Higher octane fuel generally tends to have a lower energy content than lower octane fuel ......" Does "lower energy" mean, less power? That would be a bad thing, right? Argento
  9. Bh! That is a lot of useful information you're sharing with us here ChumpusRex. Thank you very much. So now we have TWO experts on this subject visiting the Forum. We are indeed very fortunate. On a very mundane point. The Tesco Momentum 99 people were handing out fistfuls of "5p off a litre" vouchers at yesterday's BTCC at Croft. So you might want to watch out for them at Silverstone this weekend. Argento
  10. ronsis, is there anything you can safely, share with us re. Tesco Momentum 99 fuel? I've just returned from the BTCC qualifying at Croft. Tesco Momentum 99 had a big presence there. Pr/publicity trailer/caravan displays. Telling you where you can get Momentum 99 Lots of sales people. Plato and Tordoff MG6s covered in Tesco Momentum 99 fuel stickers. Plato got pole btw! Is it the fuel. ... ? ha-ha Argento
  11. Yes, I did give it a good shake. I'm particularly mindful about that. Although the instructions do not tell you to shake the canister. But I could not hear those little balls you get rattling in other paint canisters. I thought that was odd. Argento
  12. For some time now, I've been storing up a lot of questions on the automatic a/c controls on my IS250 F-Sport MY2011. The time has come for me to really get to the bottom of how it works! Hence, the rolling-up of my sleeves :-) Section 7 of the Navigation System Owner's Manual is nearly as bad in explaining things as the "Radio operation" sub-section of Section 6, "Audio/Video System". To start with. Page 272, "Switching between outside air and re-circulated air modes" That says when the system is switched to automatic mode (by pressing the air intake control button to give automatic mode), _the a/c system operates automatically_. Why does that happen? What is the purpose of it? Argento
  13. "I think the rarity is part of the appeal" Dead right IMHO ! But I would be concerned about the people available here competent enough to service and maintain such a wonderful machine. Steve, just to get this absolutely clear. Are you saying that you believe that there will be no more IS-Fs? Argento
  14. Ok noted. That's the problem. I like things to be perfect! Have you used one of these kits? Argento
  15. Has anyone had any success using the latest Lexus Touch-up Set? I've got a PZ448-W1G11-09 Silver Met kit for my Argento Silver IS250 F-Sport MY2011 I've carefully rubbed down the touch-up paint on a very small stone chip with the soft fibre end of the basecoat bottle, as per instructions. That resulted in a finish (yet to be Clearcoated I admit) darker than I expected. I'm wondering if the Clearcoat will lighten the colour? Argento
  16. Ok. Thanks for that. At the risk of testing your patience .... :-) Earlier you said, "aditives are added at the point of loading by means of in line injection... " Does that mean, _loading_into the road tanker at the refinery? And while I'm about it, what does "in line injection" mean? Argento
  17. ronsis, this is probably old news to you. It probably happened 'down South' ages ago. Off-topic I know. Apologies. Anyway, all the Total stations up here (Durham) are converting to Esso this week. No more Excellium. The chap at the counter of the Excellium station I called at this morning (car wash not fuel!) explained why the Total signs are being ripped off the roof of the pump area. Apparently, Total are getting out of the market. They've sold 800 or so stations to RonTech? They in turn have made a packet selling half of them on to Esso. Better buy some more Esso shares .... :-) Argento
  18. Thanks very much. That's good to know. I'll definitely keep using V-Power now! <I'll post when it does re open properly.> That's good of you. Thanks again. Argento
  19. Thanks for sharing that with us. Very interesting and useful. Just to be absolutely clear. <...but theres only one grade now... ( except the ultimates and v powers etc) > So that means "batches" of RON 97/98/99 etc. are specifically processed foor the Ultimates, V[Power, and Excelliums etc. , right? Argento
  20. When did Classic FM start broadcasting travel information? Yesterday I picked up a travel broadcast from them. First time I've had that. I thought that Classic FM does not broadcast travel information. Neither do they cross-refer to stations which do. The announcement I received included a traffic incident at on the M3. As I live 250 miles to the North, the news was of little relevance to me. I was listening to a PlayList from my Deezer subscription via Bluetooth at the time. That means that I was in "TA" mode on the factory audio (Nav System) in my IS250 F- Sport. MY2011 Argento
  21. normski2, thanks. I'll try that out soon too. I can understand how that would help your orientation, as it were. Argento
