  1. Thank you for your replies - looks like a trip to the dealer to disable this function is called for. Thanks again.
  2. In the last week I have gone to unlock my IS250C in the morning and all the windows have been open ! Now I'm aware if I unlock the car and keep the unlock button on the remote depressed the windows will open and the car will unlock, but in both instances the car was still locked but all the windows open ? I cant even close the windows with the remote like I used too with my old car by keeping the lock button on the remote pressed ? The first time it happen I just put it down to the possibility of my accidentally pressing the remote button whilst in my pocket but now its happened again and I cant replicate the situation but holding the buttons I'm confused and a little concerned. Can anyone help ?
  3. It took them eight months and goodness knows how many thousands of pounds worth of workshop time and parts but the rattle has now finally been rectified. Apparently there was a recent service bulletin an by adding some washers and shims to the room mechanism finally cured the rattle. Top marks to Lexus Swindon for persevering.
  4. Hi Normski, Lexus replaced both the CD head unit and the integrated screen/sat nav as it just stopped producing sound. All done under warrantee but the service manager showed me the parts bill of almost 3K ! (thinking about it I still haven't got my CD's back !)
  5. For the past 8 months my IS250C has suffered and increasing annoying rattle from the back of the car. The guys from Lexus Swindon have totally stripped the rear of the car taking out seats, parcel shelves, carpet and still it rattles (there was a very expensive service bulletin that suggested the noise was coming from the parcel shelf) It got worse and I can now pinpoint where the noise is coming from. Its coming from the roof ! The car is in for an expensive 30k service and tyre change so lets hope the rattle finally gets sorted. There are very few forum posts from 250C owners. Has anyone else had similar issues ? (The ML stereo got replaced costing Lexus almost 3K !!!)
  6. In a world of 'plug and play' I am amazed at how random the Bluetooth connection is. I to have had similar problems, but with my iPhone 4s the Lexus (IS250C with all the toys) system can seem to read the track info. However, when I plug the phone in to the USB the system the phone never recognises what its been plugged into ! It all just seems so 'hit and miss'. Is there a Toyota/Lexus phone application that would solve these problems - i have searched the internet to no avail.
  7. Hi Swager. How many miles has the car done in its five years ? I managed 130k in my 220d, then the cylinder head gasket went so I choped it in for a 250c ( top down all day today with the first good day of the year so far).
  8. There was a similar thread some months back - quite a few people have encountered this problem. On my IS220 I had the ballast and bulb changed (not cheap!) to resolve the problem.
  9. My 250C is the same in that only the drivers window is one touch. Have you had any problems with rattles from the roof/rear parcel shelf ? Mines been in a few times and the Lexus technician has admitted that there has been a few teething problems. Whilst I hate rattles in the car I'm not one to be fussy enough to claim under warrantee but the 'clonk' from the rear is so load however the technicians cant pinpoint it. Sorry to crash the thread but there are not that many 250C owners out there.
  10. Thanks Tango. Very interesting reading and it explains a few things (I need to learn a little bit more about automatic transmissions, this is my first Auto and I'm struggling with understanding things like Torque Converters etc). Thanks again
  11. I have a IS250C SE-L. It has the ECT PWR switch and I'm intrigued to find out how it works. Searching through all the forums the general opinion is that when engaged it electronically holds onto the gear longer, thus giving more power at the expense of fuel consumption. However the only difference I have found it to make is when braking at motorway speeds, it seems to drops a gear (to my surprise) increasing the revs. The car doesn't do this in the 'normal' mode. If by engaging the PWR button it effects the mapping does anyone know exactly how? Thanks in advance, Tony
  12. Make sure the windscreen is for a right hand drive vehicle. I had mine replaced recently, they took the old screen out before noticing that there are wire connections for the wiper heaters were on the wrong side ! The screens are specific to left and right hand drive cars. They had to seal the old screen back into the car and come back a week later with the correct screen !
  13. My IS220 was 120k miles old and the seat was still like an armchair (even after leaving the windows wide open all night during heavy rain once). However the drivers seat on my new (15k miles) IS250C squekes and rattles (for the record I'm only 10ish stones ).
  14. MW70 - totally agree, it didn't block the sun out but after overtaking some idiot on the motorway hogging the middle lane, rolling up the blind made them aware of your dissatisfaction ! :-)
  15. I had an IS220D purchased only weeks after the car was introduced. I now have a IS250C and I can honestly say I have used the wiper heater only a few times and even then it didnt appear to do much. In my opinion this function is a total waste of time.
  16. Mate your misses must really love you, doing all that work in her kitchen and then using her hairdryer ! Looks good though.
  17. I hate to report that I had similar problems recently and both Mark Lev head and sat-nav were replaced under warantee. The cost of the parts alone were 7k !!! I hope there is an easy fix.
  18. How old is the car ? I experienced exactly the same problem last year with my 220D. I put it in for a service and they magically solved the problem. It was not until 300 - 400 miles later when it stopped working again did I investigate myself. The radiator reservoir was seriously low on coolant. The cause - a blown cylinder head and a HUGE repair bill (eventually picked up by the extended warrantee). Lets hope your problem is something a little less catastrophic. Good luck, Tony

  20. Hi Millie, I had a similar problem with mine recently. I have a 200C SE-L with the full Mark Lev system. It got replaced under warrantee thankfully, according to the dealer the parts cost £7,000 !!! Good luck, I sincerely hope there is an easy and inexpensive fix. Rgds, Tony
  21. My 250C SE-L comes with DAB as standard however I am given to believe that its not integral to the Mark Lev system and that its a 'bolt on'. Works fine though. The sound system packed up a short while ago, under warrantee they replaced the CD unit and the computer. Both part were in excess of £7,000 according to the dealer ! I'll definitely be extending the warrantee when it expires.
  22. It just seems very temperamental when using with Bluetooth. Try rebooting the iPhone. It worked for me, for a while, and now its got a mind of its own again ! The Lexus Bluetooth software is just not very iPhone friendly !
  23. What were the first symtoms of your blown H.Gasket and how much was on the clock? The car had done 120,000. The first I knew there was a problem was when the heater in the car stopped working ! I reported this at the service and they topped up the coolant and the heater stared working again but after only a few hundred miles it stopped again. When they investigated in more detail they found oil in the coolant and diagnosed the gasket to be the cause. ,,,detail they found oil in the coolant Maybe CO2,not oil? They showed me, there was a very slight oil residue in the expansion tank. That's what the technician based his diagnosis on.

  25. Wouldn't it be good if manufactures just held their hand up when endemic problems occur ? The head gasket went on my 5 year old IS220 D. I had the car from new, never missed a service. I took out the extended warrantee. When the dealership diagnosed the problem they tried to wriggle out of doing the work under the warranty but claiming that the gasket was not a mechanical moving part ?! They did replace it in the end but it would have been good if the Lexus dealer had acknowledged that they were aware that the head gaskets had caused problems. Anyhow, I traded the diesel in an ex-demo IS220C SE L and have never looked back.
