  1. Noreen you have to be careful with wipes etc ... as they might be too agressive and remove any wax or selant you put on. Same is for the shampoos you might be using. Some of them i.e triplewax etc ... are quite agressive ... therefore you might notice that the wax is not performing well after a few washes. Cheers Vasilis.
  2. Next time I would use a sealant ;) ....holds less dust, I use Zaino Z2 at the moment works brilliant on darker colours and makes them look glossy. If you feel like you want more shine ... you can then put wax on top of the sealant after the sealant has cured ofcourse depends on what products you use. You can get a 3.78Lt Meguiars Last Touch Detailer ... and dillute it almost 50/50 with water in a spray bottle. Mine lasts over a year and ... works brilliant. More expensive ... ie almost £30 .... but it works cheaper than 1lt bottles. http://www.smartexpress.co.uk/products/Meguiars-Last-Touch-Spray-Detailer-%283.78-ltr%29.html A quick comparison of the two quick detailer vs last touch http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?2203-Last-Touch-vs-Quik-Detailer I personally re-use my old quick detailer bottle and top it up when needed.
  3. I am thinking of turbo-ing mine too ... will need to buy a kit from US I guess... and then source a nice Turbo and intercooler from here. Only for the lowering springs took 10weeks to be delivered from USA. And now looking for front camber adjusting arms ... and cannot find anything in stock ... what a pain lol.
  4. Yeah seen that ... where the guy was testing the cross bow thingie... :D :D
  5. Eh? What gives... leaky airbag? LOL .... well I am a non smoker and it has been a non smokers car ... I can only think it does not like the sun ... if any in this country. lol
  6. Mine does that from time to time ... just use a mild detergent diluted in luke warm water clean it and dry it a few times... And then do not put any of those polishing dashboard things... I think they are evil! lol I use interior detailer from Meguiars and it makes it feel and look like new. http://www.meguiars-online.co.uk/product/meguiars-quik-detailer-interior/
  7. That explains it then :) :) That's why I said about my '95 Supra beeping and being an Auto ... thought it was because it was an import... Toyota must have changed their mind when it came to newer cars. By the way when the VSC kicks in ... it does beep. But I only got that once since I bought the car... lol not racing it about enough I think.
  8. Yes that is what they say ...look at my second link, it has a full downloadable version that Chris has put on. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/73480-repair-manual-is200300-1998/?p=801649
  9. Nope no bing or reversing sound... just the red R on the dash. Before anyone says if the beep sound for the max up or min down gear work when the steering buttons are used.... it does work.
  10. I am sure it doesn't ... I will go out and check now ... lol
  11. Well you can have it for free... lol it's been already covered in this Forum before http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/73480-repair-manual-is200300-1998/ Chris's post provides it. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/73480-repair-manual-is200300-1998/?p=801649
  12. Mine does not do a bing... it is quite... my Supra used to ... but I thought it was doing it being an import auto.
  13. I got mine 2yrs ago with 81000 on the clock if I remember correct ... 2002 model IS300 SC Now it has 111000 and I can say it runs still like new. I have not touched the engine. ... the only things I had to replace was front lower bushes and tires! Other than that ... bullet proof Just make sure the cam belt is changed as soon as you buy it ;) I got mine .... very very cheap and was nothing wrong with the car ... just the owner could not sell it back then and tax was running out as well as insurance. :) :) so it worked to my favour. A 2002 with 90.000 miles today ... cannot be concidered high mileage in today's standards as it is less than average in my eyes.
  14. Looking very smart :) really nice :D :D
  15. Ahh you see I imagine there'd be more in the sportcross, I have the saloon. I have a HTC sensation! I think this is what you will need., Cheaper than the Pioneer kit, however you need to go to the appradio Forums and see compatibility. http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/htc-mhl-hdmi-tv-out-cable-ac-m490-p29367.htm Appradio Forum link is here http://www.appradioworld.com/ And here http://appradioforums.com/Forum-ARLiberator Hope it helps
  16. well according to the manufactures the split units (ie cone - twitter) are conciderd seperate speakers ... so 2 on each front door 2 in the back pillars 2 in the wheel arches and 1 subwoofer in the rear wing. Remember I have the sportcross ... Don't know what the speaker layout it in the Saloon :S Regarding the cable What phone you have?
  17. edited the post while you were replying hope it helps :) Also you might already have the 2DIN fascia ... dpends on what it is .I did not have to buy a new one... just removed a few bits and the 1DIN Fascia converted to 2DIN Fascia :) :) I was pleased with that.
  18. Do you have the factory unit on? If so you will have to bypass disable the factory amp ... not sure if there is a kit out there the can still be used with an aftermarket stereo. I got mine with an after market already installed. So the installation was very easy just adjusted the Fascia and ... that was it. You will have to remove all the centre console above the ashtray and ... up (A/C dials, stereo, Vents) ... so it does take some time. I had the DA-100 for about a year now ... love it, the sound quality is superb even without an amp installed and driving the factory 9 speakers (8+1) does really well, outperforms the speakers most of the times. Are you going to use an iPhone/iPod touch? Or are you going to use an Android? Appradio app is really good on both cases, although I have bought the ARLiberator app from the google play and I have full android functions and can open any app, satnav, internet radio etc... everything you can think of. If you do not use that ARLiberator app, you are limited to the appradio compatible apps only. It does now support iPhone 5 and iPod 5th Gen ... dont know if the cable comes with it ... for iPhone 5 ... but it comes with normal iPhone cable. To charge and play/apps For android it does not come with the KIT you wil have to buy one, it is just a normal HDMI connection, depens on the phone you have really.
  19. DA-100 will fit good I have it too ... but you need a fascia. It was covered and commented previously on the forum indeed http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/80811-is200-new-audio-system/?p=807341
  20. Most of the things I do is the same with the guys here... First of all the most important thing is the Shampoo you are using. Make sure you use one that can maintain and build up a coating and preserve the wax/sealant you might have applied previously. This will make your wax/sealant work to go a long way before you neeed to reapply. I use Nanolex Reactivating Shampoo my self I found it brilliant but it is expensive. (mind you, you only need to use 10ml of the product for about 5lt of water.) Never use a sponge to wash you car .... it is the worst enemy. Only use a micro-fibre tower or a wash mit. -- First wash the wheels with old materials ... ie an old micro-fibre or an old wash mit. put that bucket away... and forget about it once the wheels are done. :) -- Now use two buckets one with plain water and the other with the shampoo/water. (one is to rinse the mit) and the other is to soak and put on the car. -- Always soak the car / rinse off loose dirt before you start applying the shampoo on, be gentle ... and do not rub hard ... let stains soak. -- Rinse thoroughly. -- Now to dry (DO NOT USE a chamois leather ... it is as lethal as the sponge is.) Use a Micro-Fibre towel and some detailing spray... that will help you not tto leave any water stains behind. -- The car now is ready to be clay-bared .... becareful as there are a few different grades of clay-bar out there and you do not want to get anything agressive. Generally ... you only need to clay bar the car once or twice a year. Depends on the area you live in, how often you wash it etc ... and the materials you use. Clay-bar does not need to be rubbed or forced on the paintwork .... spray a lot of detailing spray aka lubricant and then float the clay bar on the surface until you are happy with the result. Again do not persist on one are ... and do not do large portions at a time just small portion of a panel ie 5"x5". -- Once clay-barring is finished your car is ready to accept machine polishing, if you want to remove any haze or ghosting on the paintwork, which was caused by "automatic car washes etc etc ...) If you are going to machine polish ... best it to wash the car again as the detailing spray lubricant still has some oils in it and covers some imperfections, therefore you want the most exposure of the defects as possible. Some even use a tower with IPA (Alcohol) to remove all the waxes/oils or some use a good wash with a plain fairy liquid to remove all the waxes as well. -- After machine polishing a wash is adviced to remove dust etc ... -- Apply Sealant if you want ... and you will see what works best for your car and colour by trying things to be honest everyone has a favourite... if you have a red car ... ie a sealant might make the red a bit red/orange tint .... but a sealant works great for dark colours (ie my blue works mirracles on it and makes it look wet and deep bringing out the metallic sparkle). I use Zaino Z2 and usually apply 2-3 coats (as the manufacturer says the more the better and deeper it shows). Easy to apply and such a tiny amount needs to be used, also very easy to removy by hand. -- Now if you have applied a sealant and you want a bit of more shine and more water repel ... then use wax on top of the sealant ... I used Autoglym HD Wax ...brilliant for the price you can find it on eBay for under £30 some times ... and again you can do the car several times. it has applicator pads and micro-fibre towel in the kit so with the all set to go. Now your car is all set to go for 6 months lol :) until then ... wash and clean like the first two steps (wash and dry) and no need to do anything else... if the water is not repelling like it was when everything was applied then apply a coat of the wax ... and it will be topped up on the car. I do know it is a longgg process but the results will be stunning trust me. I hope I did not forget something. ... I know it was a long post sorry. Cheers Vasilis. --
  21. The cheapest before you start looking in expensive things ... look the adjustment .. but also change the gearbox oil. Worked both times when I was getting a bit crunchy 3rd gear on my Saab 93. And that was mainly at fast changes. regardless if the car was hot or cold. After I changed the oil ... everything was perfect. Same with my C5 ... although that is only if it was cold ... before it warms up.
  22. some pictures I took yesterday after I finished polishing and detailing
  23. I do not know about the cheap ones. But the Alpine the car had when I bought it and now the Pioneer I have for the last year. Do manage to play all speakers properly... The factory amps usually are small anyway. For the Salloon I do not think it will be a problem.
