  1. i would suggest that you explore the possibilities of using a toyota dealer ,prices etc ,before putting it in the hands of an unknown quantity. i use bill allen (toyota )in cheltenham and get excelent service from them especially spare parts , servicing not cheap but well done and trustworthy .they also have a couple of lexus trained mechanics.
  2. ace where abouts in gloucestershire are you ,area only, not address
  3. raz just to set the record straight its a 92 and i'm a bit pee'd off as i have chipped some paint off the back bumper backing into my drive grrrrrrrrrrrrr incidently doe's anyone here know if the royal jade pearl clearcoat (dark green ) is the same as the one on the gs300 , code 6m2
  4. i am in the process of fitting fog lights into the lower opening of the front grill , and reverse parking sensors with digital distance read out / bleeps , would like a reversing camera but finding it difficult to get one so have gone in for the sensors , have got all the other stuff which works fine , but i cannot understand why the sunroof has to be closed in two motions , why did toyota make it stop half way ,my alarm circuit closes the windows but because of this little quirk it ca'nt shut the roof
  5. anyway good luck bison and i hope all goes well
  6. i can only assume the people who are advacatting going through hedges and sideways in a soarer/sc400 have never really driven one, when you are used to its little quirkes you can throw a soarer about just as much as any other car and doing highly illeagle speeds in a soarer is like sitting in an arm chair watching the world go by at a great rate of knots ,if you know how to drive one properly corners are no source of concern , and all mr plod sees is a sedate coupe go by making very little noise and attracting little attention, unless of course he happens to be hiding behind a bush at the bottom of a hill at the end of a duel carrige way with a speed camera , as they do, but they are the goverments official tax collectors now , any way going off topic . might i suggest that people actually drive a soarer and live with it before they knock it , you cannot compare it with a ls400 they are totaly different animals a v8 woulg give a cossie a good run for its mony but a tt especially a well tuned one would blow it away
  7. all v8's have the soft touch indicator and washer stalks they can be a pain as its so easy to leave the indicators running as the beeper is so quiet, i think they all have the dimming r. v. mirror to i know mine has, but it may be only on the gt limited , they also have a viabrator on the door mirrors to shake the rain off , these are just a small percentage of the refinements on the v8 against the tt , if i had wanted a frugaly equiped fast car i would have bought a ferrari, but i wanted comfort with a bit of grunt and thats what i get from the v8
  8. where in the midlands are you , give this guy a ring , 07985304832,his name is richard ,he drives a lovely white V8 which he might sell at the right price but he has always getting hold of soarers of one type or another ,he is situated between gloucester and tewksbury , tell him i put you on to him as i bought my sc400 from him
  9. i have noticed that just recently my post's which are not that frequent have aquired some red squares and a 0%warning thingy can some one tell me what this is all about ? i ask here as i do'nt know where else to ask
  10. steve if you leave the engine running on a soarer after so many seconds the doors will automaticaly lock this is an anti mugging safety feature of the vehical it is fitted as standard to all v8 models ,i do not know about 2.5 tt though , does it do it by the time you get up to about 20mph ,if it does then nothing is wrong ,just remember do not leave your keys in the car with the engine running and the door shut ,unless you have a spare key or remote actuater
  11. my badges have got a dark plastic background on them which hides any holes and is hardly noticable against the dark green paint work , so whatever the colour of your vehical is get hold of a matching background cut to size stick on with badge incidently did you take off the soarer badge ,if you did how was it fixed ,i would like to know as i have a sc400 badge and intend to put it in place of the soarer one
  12. the cover is available through any good toyota dealership i am looking at an exploded drawing of the 12v 120 a alternator and it would appear that everything internaly is replacable , however the part that is of the most importance when you have sorted your problem out is a cover the part no of which is 27029-46010 there is also a part no 27039 2of which i am not sure about but appear to cover the plastic connector end of the alternator but the parts people will be able to clarify that . this is something i intend to be doing in the very near future for my soarer /sc400 , the cost of the part is at the moment an unknown quantity as i think it has to be shipped in but you may be lucky and find one on the shelf , or via a breakers
  13. darrenA lift the bonnet of your car and on the top of the drivers side front wing you will see the vin plate my car is a v8 gt limited 92 the model no = e-uzz31-acpzk yours will be something similar the serial no= uzz31-ooowhatever the engine =1uz-fe so having established what model yours is ,and as its a v8 i do'nt see why you should have any problems
  14. did not read all the speal but i remember about 30 years ago when i used to race ,there was something very similar being sold in magazines like hot car , and car and car conversions ,never bought one myself but i know a few who did ,and it had little or no effect on the performance of any vehical and that was in the days of carburettors ,so do'nt expect to much from it with efficient injection ,all it does is swirl up the air in an attempt to get a better petrol air mixture but as its got to go through a valve iwould think the effect is almost lost
  15. the electrical extending aerial is an add on after market thing the true aerials are in the side windows however that is not the problem you have , the radio in the v8 is situated under the rear seat so the coax for the aerial does'nt have to go far ,it possibly has a frequency expander on it to assist in listening to uk radio ,access to the aerial base i would think is behind the boot inside covers with the relivent connections close to hand either there or by the radio, as its after market i would not think there is any soldering involved
  16. i run on 245 /40 on 18" rims with no trouble but i would think they are the maximum width for the front wheels due to the likely hood of scraping the suspension and or the wheel arch on any thing bigger, this does not apply of course to the rears ,i would think you can go as big as you like till you break the suspension due to un designed for forces
  17. hi bomb what electrical problems are you experiencing ? please elaborate
  18. i am of course assuming you know that the exhausts on the soarer/sc400 are stainless steel
  19. darren type into your browser "stainless steel exhausts"and a world of exhaust will open before you, uk only though
  20. maffialex sc92 before you dash of to a lexus dealer, find a reliable toyota dealer with a good parts /service dept and speak to them ,i'm lucky i've got a good one in cheltenham, you will find them cheaper if you have to have work done and they will find the parts fairly easily once they have all the relivant no's from your car , after all it is primarily a toyota
  21. jacking up the car on the welded seam where the cill meets the underside about 12" from the wheel you will see two notches in the seam this is where the jack head goes ,the scissor jack as supplied with the car is quite adequate and the handle is also quite clever
  22. hi guys i would like to wish you all a merry christmas and a lexus new year cheers ya all
  23. well what can i say ? a good time was had by all , the company as usuall was most entertaining , the conversations wide and varied, raz and his dad did us proud (as did all the staff)by laying on a great meal which even one of the company tried and he doe'snt normaly like curries , so a vote of thanks to raz and his dad , i think the normal cruisers were a bit thrown by all the lexus,s showing up , however the smoking metro did cause some meriment and attracted a police presence good afternoon and evening must do it again some time
  24. have just developed a sticking front caliper but will try and limp up to you , also to the restaurant
