  1. hi markgize the best i can do at the moment is for you to go to the toyota inport forum site ,go into the forums find page 2 , go to" hatfield meet wheels" by bundy , and there is a picture of my wheels , not much showing of the car but you will get an idea of what the appearence is on the car ,incidently if you have a v8 with tems it is possible to lower the body down to give the car a more sporty appearence , i am not in favour of this myself as i feel it could have a detrimental effect on the air bag suspension of the v8, but others have done it and say it improves the road holding etc ,certainly looks neat .
  2. i run on 18 " wheels with 245/40zr avon tyres ,the 40%profile gives me 59.9 mph at a true speed of 60mph and thats good enough for me, if you deviate from a 40% profile you must expect incorrect speedo readings which in a v8 can lead to a lot of speeding points if the error is in the wrong direction ,for some reason avon tyres are not well liked among the soarer fraternity , i have no problems with mine , but then tyres are a personal choice, mine came with the car so i had little option, they can be got for £90 to £120 each dependent on where you go . as far as ride is concerned ,in normal mode on tems the motion of the suspension is quite a bit harder (i would imagine)than what is recognised as normal ,in sport mode which i use out on the open road it is decidedly hard , in my youth i used to drive an anglia with lowered and clamped suspension which more or less relied on the movement in the tyre walls plus koni shockers to absorb the bumps , so if you want a smooth slightly bouncy ride do'nt go for 18"
  3. will be at the air baloon about 3.30, unsure about restaurant yet ,will confirm asap
  4. groupama through a-plan,thatchem 0845 0711234 £150 exess £500 premium 0n 3 yrs ncb ,(2nd car) v8 sc400 / soarer good for grey imports
  5. ok bison give us some times and i might just mosey across the town and up crickly hill with tracee to join you , is there a discount on the curries , sounds like a way of drumming up trade for raz and his dad what a change, i do'nt have to burn gallons petrol to get to a meet
  6. hi sep 2 go to toyota import forum every thing you wanyt to know about bushes is there. the bushes come from australia , so look up planet soarer ,or go to the australian lexus ownwers club site ,all will be revealed ,when you find them put them in your favorites as you will be constantly refering to them
  7. just punch in "alloy wheels " ito your web search the results will blow your mind , there are hundreds out there
  8. i'm running on 18's with 245/40zr tyres , you have got to have the correct tyre profile or your speedo will read incorrectly, there is a site smewhere which gives wheel/tyre ratios to give correct speedo readings ,it also gives the errors i know mine are supposed to read 59.9 mph at a truespeed of 60 mph and thats close enough for me, sorry ca'nt remember the site ;)

    New Owner

hi there i have a v8 soarer , not a turbo man myself , but the one thing about the tt is it is very tuneable , nice colour always think the soarer looks nice in silver , mine is a very dark green which in certain lights looks dark blue , sounds like a nice motor , and not an unreasonable price for its condition , now you need to go to planet soarer and find out all about it , the toyota imports forum is also a good source of soarer information , if you really want to stand out get a set of lexus badges including a sc400 badge , i know of a black set which were origionally gold to be had from the states if you are interested give me a pm , i have a sc400 badge coming over this week
  10. great meet ,good company glad to know you got home ok raz , i said follow me and you went off in the opposite direction ,knew you were mesmerised by those glowing dice , anyway a good time was had by all, pity some of you missed it.

  12. i put a post on the american site for a sc400 badge and i got one for £20 about $32 the same guy has a complete set for sale , they are golg one's that have been blacked over, if you go onto the american loc and look for my post on sc 300 / 400, p3 i think (wanted sc400 badge ) there are some photo's of the badges on there
  13. anybody who has a soarer/sc400 or has intentions to own a soarer ,should visit planet soarer , as years of experience is available to all us owners given by people who have taken the time and trouble to get the maximum possible performance out of there vehicals, and passed the mods on to us , also the australian soarer owners club is a source of invaluble advice and also replacement parts, there is a particular one on planet soarer regarding getting maximum air into the engine , look for bfi
  14. hi guys , have no fear i will be sticking to and if not below all the relevent speed limits ,as difficult as that may be , i want to present both the club and the convoy to have the maximum effect as we pass through towcester ,i do not intend to go through northampton, as much as i would like to ,but i think due to the number and frequency of the traffic lights i would probably come out the otherside with very few companions or some with a few extra points on their licence, there is however quite a nice straight stretch of road going into shutlanger ,might open her up a bit there :D but as its the pretty route ,we'll see :winky:
  15. i am aware of the tv mod , might go in for it myself , i was specificly refering to the sat nav situation of which both you and i know works on an obsolete jap system , however it has been implied that it may be possible to run a modern sat nav system which could use the emv screen as a vdu ,using the required converters of course to change the veiwing system.
  16. type in ,,,, planet soarer ,,,, and all you will ever want to know about soarer headlights and other things are there, most of it is from the australian site as they appear to be the most active in sorting out problems on the soarer ,certainly from the point of view of making otherwise obsolete bits work another way , unfortunately the sat/nav is a no no at the moment, but moves are afoot to see if an existing system can be fed into the emv screen in the centre consul .
  17. bazza i asked this question just before the big crash , but never got a reply, those of us who are coming up on sunday ,are we expected to bring along a prezzie, also if you do decide to go to stoke bruen and no one knows the way i will gladly take you there , would be quite a nice convoy, it would be a drive of about 12miles
  18. we are not on the list soramad mike and tracee we will be up sometime on sun morning
  19. hi administator the odo is just the start, things can only get worse , take my word on that
  20. hi super moderator if you read my thread properly you will notice that i said blow on the componants , i never advocate blowing on solder as it is a quick route to a dry joint which can cause more problems .
  21. hi to all those members with blinky dash , i have just refurbished the dash instruments on my 4ltr , using the australian sites excellent"dash repair for dummies"there were however a few things that could have been added which would have speeded things up such as ........... it is necessary to have a 14mm socket at hand to lower the steering column lowering the steering column is an absolute necessity as the binnicle will not clear part of the steering wheel control mechanism. some of the plugs can be bitches but they will come apart . it is necessary to have either a small chisel or pointed ended soldering iron as the capacitors in question are surface soldered and require a point to desolder them , the replacements were ordinary electrolytic capacitors , i used higher voltage ones ie 25 v which due to there size had to be layed down .the pc boards are double sided so a lot of heat is required to get the leads through , so blow on all the componants soldered to cool them quickly . i found a desoldering tool very handy , when you are taking the binnicle apart ensure you take out the mirror as soon as you get to it , as it can quite easily slip out of place , as i found out in a heart stopping moment , but all was well , phew. clean every thing , including the flourecent tube ,in its own little compartment , which has to be stripped down, sorry this has been so boring but i thought it might help prepare anyone contemplating this operation . looking at my instruments now is a pleasure every thing is so much brighter incidently i got all the components and tools from maplins components did'nt cost 50p
  22. hi galee i would think you are on the right track looking at the sender unit first i have never tried to get one out of a soarer yet but i wouldent think it is to duificult. if you don,t want to tackle it yourself pop it into a toyota dealer and get it checked out, regarding blinking dash my 4ltr gt/l has just developed it and i am going to tackle it this weekend , got all the bits from maplins , and am going to change all the capacitors as the chances are they are starting to break down . i'm also going to clean all the mirrors and screens , and check out the lamps . i have got a comprehensive set of instructions copied off the australian soc including how to drop the steering wheel etc
  23. just to set the record straight , the r12 gas used in the ac system is not illegle ,it is not available from toyota dealers , as they are not allowed to handle it , however it can be obtained from air conditioning repairers and installers , my local one in gloucester charges £55.00 for a re charge ,or £35.00 if the system fails after being tested get it repaired then get a recharge of gas ! this for the correct gas for the old system
  24. hi lennon am passing on the information regarding handbooks etc that i have used the soarer hand book is very good , but does not contain information on the touch screen or its controls, there is one however which comes from www.jpnz.co.nz these are supplied by the following.................... you could also try paul ranson on www.car-handbooks.com or www.car-handbooks.com/soarer.htm/ the owners manual will set you back about £20.00 inc vat if you buy it from paul , i cannot comment on the screen manual as it came with my car
  25. hi bobby k you will find that you get used to a digital speedo very quickly at least i did , you will also find that most if not all soarers have trips in km. however for every 100km think 60mls, not rocket science! just treat it like any other car , ask the right questions, check out that all, and i mean all the electrics work , check out the air con , if in doubt get the aa or rac to give it the once over the results which ever way ,will be worth it
