  1. Thanks for the feedback - probably just needed some more background on it. Happy to keep as is. :)
  2. Hi Guys Thanks for the responses viz the H&S exhaust. Having done some searches online it appears the loud cold start 'thing' is common with these types of exhaust, especially as the engine in idle jumps to about 1, 500 rpm in start. Sounds strange, but when I leave the car at the airport for a day or two and drive home it has a nice mellow sound, but when driving cold from home it just feels louder and more raucous - it may be something to do with it being colder first thing, not sure. I also called H&S and TBH they didn't have much to say except bring it over and they can have a look - either way I doubt there is anything wrong with the exhaust, and it'll mean more expense and leaving it there for a few days for any mods, so will keep that as a last resort, for now will see how things go. One 'top tip' is to engine gear almost as soon as the car fires up from cold (reverse in my case) and this brings the revs right down and quietens the engine. Maybe H&S could consider checking with customers first what level of 'loud' they want. Cheers
  3. Hi Guys Just further to update earlier posts: - I've now had the Portersfield brake pads added, haven't done much on them yet, but early signs are good and less brake dust - In other news, my H&S exhaust fitted about six months ago seems to be verging on the 'too loud' and seems to run more smoothly/quiet at different times. Has anyone else had this issue with this installation? Cheers
  4. Hi Sully I've deferred doing this until the New Year, but am 99% will go for the Porterfield pads by Whifbitz. I did think about Mintex pads, as I had them on my VX220 Turbo and was very impressed, but owner feedback on them for the ISF online seems quite damning. Cheers James
  5. Guys - thanks very much, may give me some good options here. Cheers James
  6. Hi Guys Looks like I will need to get my front pads changed soon (now on 43k has them new at 25k) the dealer wants around 550 for just the fronts installed and around 350 for the rears. So two questions: - are there 'less dusty' non OEM pads anyone has tried/recommends for the ISF and what are the costs (e.g. Green Stuff pads etc) - has anyone a good experience of any indie/specialist in London/SE to supply and fit these or other types of pad! Thanks
  7. Just reading a review of the new RCF on Pistonheads it really looks as though Lexus has missed a massive opp by not bring out a next gen ISF. I know the motoring press also shredded the ISF for its poor track performance, missing the point of its brilliance as an everyday car. But as a two door only option, with much added girth and weight, you have to wonder why the new IS didn't have a halo ISF added. I like to think (like most of us) that this can only benefit the future status of our cars in the future as something of a classic car....
  8. Thanks, worth a call with them to discuss on Monday. :)
  9. Hi Guys I have a seeping water pump and Lexus Twickenham has quoted GBP492 to replace it, does anyone have a better price experience I should be aiming for and at which dealer? Thanks
  10. Hi Guys Having also had an H&S cat back done, I would personally not be worried about the extra BHP from a full flow system given the power already on tap, and wouldn't want to tempt fate with the insurance world. But still interested to see what a full system unleashes...
  11. Had mine done by H&S last week - very pleased!
  12. Hi These do fit as I got the same off Fleabay....
  13. Hi Selmer I assume the five year service is the 'big one' where spark plugs are changed, transmission and axle fluid etc changed? If so GBP 250 is an amazing price! Can you confirm, and is Woodford an official Lexus dealer? That being the case I'll be booking mine I there. Cheers Grey One
  14. Hi Everyone I appreciate all the responses. Common sense has prevailed and I've decided to keep my current car for the long-term. A shiny almost new one is tempting but not on the financial exposure needed. Cheers
  15. Hi Guys I have a paid for 2009 grey ISF with just over 40K on the clock but seem to have fallen for a very low mileage 2013 model at my local stealers that will involve a three year HP and 'balloon' payment. Is this completely nuts, should I just keep my existing car, or do the late models with LSD, suspension tweaks and interior upgrades make the difference to justify this kind of decision? Head says no, heart says yes etc. Any feedback appreciated :)
  16. Hi Guys Has anyone here got experience of a UK aftermarket exhaust from an ISF. I think someone here has used H&S? Having owned a ZT260 with an aftermarket exhaust I want more V8 noise but not too much... Any feedback/recommendations appreciated... Thanks
  17. Hi Guys - just going on Autotrader I was surprised to see the number of sub GBP20K ISFs on there, including a 2010 model for GBP17K with 80k on the clock. Are we about to see values drop to GBP10K in the next year? I was hoping given the limited numbers on the road the ISF was going to hold its value quite well. Any thoughts? Cheers
  18. Hi I thought that I would post here having been a visitor to the forum for the last few months (one of the few active websites for ISF owners). I own a dark metallic 2009 ISF with dark leather seats (I couldn’t deal with the white ones in 2010 models I saw) with 27K on the clock. The car is great and once I got used to the auto box and paddles (only manual owned cars before) it’s a hoot to drive. MPG comes in at a very respectable 30 on a run and down to 18 for ongoing urban driving. The first major service under my ownership is in August so I’m watching the rear disks and pads (fronts were replaced when I purchased it). I’m also thinking ahead to getting better tyres next time (original Bridgestones fitted), in the meantime I have added alloygators which are great having experienced a few kerb scuffs in the first few weeks of ownership (a common issue with Lexus I understand). In terms of the diff, like many 2008/9 owners I have no complaints about the original electronic LSD so it wasn’t a big factor in choosing a pre-2010 model. Hope to be posting more actively from now on and being part of this exclusive community J
  19. "DISP" button on Right-Hand-Side of steering wheel. Changes display each time pressed. Just keep pressing it until you get to mpg etc. Thx will try this
  20. Thanks Everyone, that really helps. I had one other question... how do you get a MPG figure from the onboard computer? I've tried to poke around the menu on the central display but can't find anything referencing this. Thx
  21. That's two totally contradictory replies :) anyone else have a view? My gut feeling is the neutral select but Lexus themselves seem to say keep it in D...
  22. Hi Everyone My first post on here - the IS-F is the first automatic I've owned so I'm obviously more focussed on driving it properly than the auto rental cars I've had before. My question is when waiting in traffic jams or at traffic lights is it okay to flip into neutral or park rather than keeping drive enegaged and brake pedal pressed all the time? I'm more concerned about gearox/brake wear than economy... Cheers Grey One
