  1. I'm with you on this mate! sick or what? just because it's not against any religion or law doesn't mean it's socially acceptable and it certainly doesn't make it art!! how has this person been allowed to get hold of a still birth anyway? Furthering medical science is one thing, but.... sick sick sick nuff said Mojo
  2. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :D Well, I've done 500 miles of motorway miles over the festive season and I can well and truely say that the Goodyears rock!!! I've not found the tyre noise loud at all, certainly no worse than the rubbish Dunlops I had before. Having said that the stereo tends to drown out everything very easiy ;) I'll be talking to Lexus about the front tyre wear in the next week or so, so I'll let you guys know what they reckon the offical line is on it. From the responses on here it sounds like a common problem. There's no way I'm happy about replacing a front set every 8k. Donk, get F1s mate. They do make a hell of a difference to the car. You'll be chucking it round your favourite corners like the old days before you know it. Mojo
  3. Just got my Goodyears fitted. Opted to put them on the back and put my old rears on the front until I can be sure that my excessive wear problems have been reduced. I also had the tracking checked and, not surprisingly, it was way out. Apparently it has now been corrected, but I'll still be popping to Lexus in the new year to have them give it a going over to be sure. First impressions on the Eagle F1s.... Not done too much with them yet, as I'm still scrubbing them in. Rear wheel spin has been dramatically reduced, traction control doesn't cut in at all when energetically pulling away from a wet junction now. :) I realise this would happen with any new tyre but just seems alot better tham the Dunlops they've replaced. I'll post a full report when I've clocked up some more miles and corners :D Have a great Christmas everyone!! Mojo :hohoho:
  4. Chris, Always worth a try... I had nothing but grief when I bought the car for one reason or another so, I may try my luck :P
  5. Dink, I used to run F1s on my impreza turbo and found them to be the best tyre I've ever used. I'm getting 2 x 215-45-17s from Kwik Fit for £190 all in, and yes they are the new flavour GSD3s :D Kwik Fit seem to be offering a price match at the moment, which is very nice as I pass them every day to and from work. I'll let you know what they are like on the IS Mojo
  6. Chris, ah right, is this something Lexus should have done before they sold me the car (2nd hand btw)? Because the tyres have worn VERY quickly, so the settings must be way off. If so, should they adjust it for free? Ta Mojo
  7. Folks, I'm having to buy 2 new front tyres tomorrow because the inside 1 1/2 inch of each has worn way past legal! Can't believe I didn't notice. Anyway, I presume this is down to a tracking setting? Is it a common problem on IS200's or is mine just badly set-up? Is it simple to get corrected by a high street garage (Kwik Fit type)? I've decided to upgrade the tyres to a type I know and trust (from previous sports car ownership), Goodyear Eagle F1's. Not having changed any tyres on my IS200 yet can someone please let me know what the pressures should be front and back when running on 17s, save me having to look in my manual? Cheers Mojo
  8. got hit by the IT redundancy thing :( .... but I'm back hacking code again now, just in time for Christmas :) wot've I missed then?
  9. Not been on here for what feels like ages, so I thought I'd just say hi to everyone again HI! :D

  11. thanks claire, keep up your training :P playa, I totally agree... the more you learn the more reluctent you become to fighting. I think it's because you realise exactly how much damage you could do to someone and it's quite scary. Matthew, I know what you mean but, strange as it sounds, the injuries I've had since I started are very minor and most of them have been sustained due to poor technique whilst attempting to break wood or bricks etc. It's all part of the learning curve I guess. OK, it's official, I'm crazy :duh:
  12. Playa I agree it's a great way to get rid of aggresion and tension. It's really good to start karate from the begining again, it all makes so much more sense when you've been a black belt before. when I first did it I just did things because I was told to, this time round I can analyse things at a much deeper level of understanding.
  13. you're pushing your luck now Red you know how much I hate that song!!
  14. ARGH!!! some one make her stop!! Playa I did shukokai for 7 years and got my 1st dan, did a bit of wing chun kung fu a few years back but recently taken up wado ryu and started from the begining again... got up to 4th kyu blue belt at the mo. the sparring is semi contact. as for injuries I've been quite lucky all in all besides breaking every one of my fingers and my nose the rest has just been bruising. all good fun :D
  15. Matthew, yeah, it was just like that :D my own fault though, I got a bit upset that they were scoring points for stuff I clearly blocked and got a little carried away. I think I proved my point in the end :P norkep, Only a few things p**s me off... the fun bit is not telling people what those things are ;)
  16. :D thanks Red shame their rules didn't really match with mine :P and how was I to know that kicking him through the crowd is frowned apon? good fun though.... roll on next year!
  17. yeah Matthew, hence the avatar. :P I'm competing in the Yorkshire open karate championships this Sunday in Morley as it happens. [any excuse to drum up interest] so, if anyone is at a lose end on Sunday pop along :D editted to say: I'm actually as placid as they come... if you spilt my pint, I'd probably just wander off to find a cloth :P
  18. as anyone that knows me will tell you I always tried to take any sensible precautions I could when I had the Scoob and locking my doors has been something I've always done and is now just habit. In this case it proved to be the difference between me getting away and me being dragged from the car. As Red said I probably wouldn't have gone quietly, which I know isn't the correct response for, what is just a piece of metal, but it was MY piece of metal what settled it for me was only the week before a group of us had been to the cinema in my car and my mate Jen had left her cigs, so I gave her the keys and she went to get them. i couldn't stop thinking what if it had happened to her? I couldn't forgive myself if one of my mates got hurt because of the car I owned. It's easy to dismiss until it happens to you. I suppose it's a sign of the times, everyone has to way up the pros and cons for themselves. I would never tell anyone not to get one, but just not let them kid themselves that they are not a major target at the moment.
  19. Scoobies are fantastic and I still miss mine. I had a classic shape MY00. The current model is fugly!! For the benefit of Matthew and anyone else that doesn't know my story goes... one evening about 3 months ago I returned to my car in a large supermarket carpark. Got in locked the doors (part of my routine) took off the disclok and was tucking it under my passenger seat when I noticed 2 large guys right behind my rear spoiler... as that sunk in another guy was trying to get in my drivers door and a forth was pounding my right rear side window. When the guy couldn't get in he screamed "Get out and give us the f**king keys" erm, no I thought. Slammed it in reverse and swung out VERY fast. I think I hit the guy at my driver's door with my front wheel and I've no idea how the guys behind me got out the way. They gave the car a kicking as I changed to 1st and sped away, towards people and the entrance to the supermarket. They jumped back in the Audi quattro estate they had and shot off. After a a brief talking down by a friend (thanks Red) I went to the cop shop and reported it. I've heard nothing since. I changed to a IS200 sport the following week. I really didn't like the risk anymore. :( Anyway, back to the point. Scoobies and Evos are fantastic cars and I still wish I had mine when I'm driving my fav roads. Dispite the large running cost etc. I never regreted buying it even for a moment. Get one, but be safe :D
  20. just be prepared for every scumbag to want to beat it from you or resort to threatening your friends and family for the keys.... me, bitter? never....
  21. Red, there you go again stealing my opinions You've got to love the new GT40 though... how amazing were the wheels on the back of that!!
