  1. Yeah I have my HUD on all the time now. That Lexus Chester one looks like a nice opportunity for someone to get into a Lexus LC via a Lexus dealer.
  2. Yep that was it - that image lingered across to the F type for me I think - which everyone praised for its design!
  3. This thread made me realise I spent too much time cleaning the car and not enough photographing it - some post wash photos
  4. Ha! Probably convincing himself it is a genuine 2+" so he can convince his other halve perhaps 🙂
  5. I have had that A pillar trim off and the clip is a bit confusing when you want to put it back in - it might be that its not be realigned properly. The windscreen looks to be $750 which isnt too bad. Not like some of the other part prices I have looked into.
  6. Thought I would give an update on this thread. After playing around with the Audisons I kept struggling to get to a sound that I liked across all music - suspect its likely the tweeter design and possibly the speaker might not lend itself to a dash position facing up at the windscreen - they were just too bright and the highs too harsh for my liking - they sound great at first but tiring to listen to for longer periods. So I have switched back to Musway - these CSM42X had been the original plan before the Audison but they couldnt be mounted on top due to the dimensions which is why I went with the Audisons. These Musways are meant for MB OEM upgrade so require a little modification - the nice thing is they dont feature spade connectors so you have a nice little plug to use. Anyway - more patience on my behalf and a little learning on the joys of 3D builder and printing for some custom adapters along with some rivnuts and washers for the mounting holes and these have been in for a while now. These are definitely more musical and much smoother to listen to - they are not as physically as deep as the Audisons. They have silk dome tweeter which general consensus seems to be that it will offer smoother highs. Really happy with the sound and install is now much cleaner, the CSMs fit snug into the adapter then the adapter is mounted under rather than on top of the factory mount and the result is the speaker is mounted the same position to the grill as the OEM.
  7. Just watched that :-). lol fills it up with it running - obviously way too excited. Actually had something similar on a Hybrid XC90 T8 last year - parked it up in town and went to lunch - came back to the engine running 😁 just hadnt turned the thing off - a bit scary. His point on the volume is saved for each input is the same for the sound settings bass/mid/treble Never really thought a lot about the F type - partly due to JLR brand but also the design looks awkward. My wife had a crossfire years ago which Clarkson mocked that car and the F Type fundamental design looks not disimilar! Actually that crossfire was a reasonable car - mostly SLK underneath - remember crawling underneath to look at rattle and AMG exhaust on it 🙂 - bought an SC after that car.
  8. wow nice and lovely shots. lol that interior makes my black interior look a little boring! Only Lexus and the LC could pull of red white and blue in an interior and it look so classy!
  9. That is a fine looking convertible LC - what they did with interior blows you away - one of the most stunning interiors on a car.
  10. You mean RCFs that drop into Cars registered between 1 March 2001 and 31 March 2017 ? So thats £59 pm or 708pa?
  11. I have to admit that 15£ RFT per month is insanely low - especially for this vehicle but hey ho 🙂
  12. I didnt really appreciate it until recently. https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables "You have to pay an extra £390 a year if you have a car or motorhome with a ‘list price’ (the published price before any discounts) of more than £40,000. You do not have to pay this if you have a zero emission vehicle. You only have to pay this rate for 5 years (from the second time the vehicle is taxed)." So effectively the extra 390£ is paid only for 5 years after the 1st year. So it reduces quite a lot after the car turns 6years old.
  13. There is one other benefit of these cars getting older ... RFT 🙂
  14. I should add too that the one other aspect the LC trumps so many other cars in this sector is the interior - it is stand out the best and one of the best interiors of any cars period. I dont actually feel the infotainment is bad either - I enjoy that it has flexibility and multiple layers and menus. Yeah I always forget when navigation cancel is but thats it. I have audio one the left main screen and climate on the right. Plus my wife loves the LC and loves being in it - she wasnt covinced on the 911 which is going to be difficult when I do want to get one. + I can put the dog in the back of the LC lol and he loves it - absolutely hates the XC90 due to the visibility especially on motorways!
  15. Colour combos on the LC do seem to play into how quickly they hang around or go but I havent really noticed they are priced much differently by colour. Silver LCs seem to take longer to shift, Red seems to go except those with a tan interior - they seem to take a while. This is me having red with black interior! I think all the colour combos are great but I think when looking on screen certain combos look better. I have a base model, I dont think I have seen one other base model for sale since I bought mine a year ago until today and there is a silver one. People are going to favour the sport models but I can genuinely say that after a year I do not feel in anyway that I am missing out being in a non sport. I might actually favour the glass roof over the CF - weight aside. When I bought the car I went in expecting that I might be missing out on something but its so highly specced - even having heated steering and climate seats which I hadnt expected. For me the overriding criteria was the car is fundamentally the same across the models and especially the engine/gearbox/suspension. I bought a year ago - I was aware of the market and accepted the possibilities. I got mine as it was at the sweet spot for budget ~52k at the time. I could have waited but calling the market isnt going to have worked and thats one less year or more that I wouldnt have enjoyed the car. If the prices pull back they will across the entire sector in the market and its relative and was relative - I expected to lose 40% on my C63 when I bought that in 2018 but sold in 2021 and only lost ~8%. I guess if someone has a budget of <50k then yeah you are going to start seeing opportunities for these cars which of course are another year older but I think the LC prices - certainly they arent going to decline any differently - they are still low numbers available used + Lexus reputation + flagship model + that 10 year warranty and you are getting an awful lot of car when you compare to Astons, 911s, AMG GTs which there are tons of used. I would like to scratch a 911 itch but and it was one of the decision points that made me go with an LC - to get into a 911 that I wanted I'd have needed 25-30k more. I considered a Vanquish but the Lexus warranty took care of that and I had contended the AMG GT but discounted it as I had already experienced the engine and wanted something different + the AMG GTs just didnt review quite as nicely as the LC.
  16. I didnt realise there were 2 versions. For me it is clearly noticeable when switched to open. I have it set to default factory setting on startup. Have to admit I dont use it as much as I expected. Its a bit of a toy/gizmo tbh. I had a switchable OEM exhaust on my previous car and used that a lot more. I dont think I realised just how much louder it would be alwasy open - it is significantly loud! It is fiddly to fit but it is a nice plug and play unit. Would I buy it again knowing what I know now? Probably not - but each to their own. 🙂
  17. @wilksyHave you simply just decided not to fit it?
  18. Given the amount of knowledge here what is the most cost effective route to sourcing the music I want - legitimately - and burning to a DVD. I am still swapping CDs which I dont have many of!
  19. Having finally moved away from my last 3 cars being black its really unhelpful posting these...both those cars look amazing ! Congrats!
  20. "the transmission’s shift speed and positivity both leave plenty to be desired." My experience is the exact opposite! At least he didnt bemoan the ICE UI!
  21. So I have now replaced the front dash speakers - a significant improvement. I suspect that this would be a good upgrade for anyone even keeping to the stock amp. The space is very limited on the drivers dash speaker, the passenger side has a little more and the centre is frankly huge - very deep. I spent quite a bit of time looking at various products and went with 4" Audison APX4 - I can safely say that these fit and without any modifications to the car, only the speakers themselves - you need to remove 2 of the opposing lugs on 2 speakers and partially increase mounting lug holes. I also put the centre speaker into a slightly crude adapter purely to keep the logo oriented correctly - not that you would notice when the cover is on! The APX has a very slim flange where as a lot of other products have a sizeable flange - the Audisons look to be about 1-2mm. I found that anything bigger would foul the speaker cover - things are pretty tight between the top of the speaker and the cover + the drivers side needed a 4-5mm shim/spacers to clear the vents underneath. It would be nice if these aftermarket speakers featured a better connection as spade connections feel a bit crap to be honest. I retained the original Lexus connector as I wanted everything to stay OEM on the car. Ideally I would have found some connectors and may order some from China - the only place I could find them. For now I modified some Toyota audio connector pins to push into the Lexus connector. Not very pic heavy as unfortunately lost track of taking them but some below. You can see the old 2 side and centre speakers against the Audison. I got these for 160£ for 4 - which means I have a spare if anyone is interested in doing this upgrade! The Audisons are a really lovely looking speaker and the fact the tweeter isnt raised is another great help. They sound fantastic!
  22. Another update as all in now. Ended up dissambling rear seat to tidy cabling and run usb socket for D8 amp and subwoofer amp bass control to centre storage. That first pic shows back of the sub amp through the rear seat. 2nd to last pic shows centre storage with the controller and new usb socket - no real need to do that but much tidier ! Got a a bit more sub - bass now! Pic heavy...
