I do have one but unfortunately i cant use it.. I used to have a Pixel 2 and it worked fine with Torque but it wont work with iphone. I now have my mini-vci cable and need to get the software setup. IIRC the OBD2 reader will just poll the information from the ECU but the Mini-VCI setup with the laptop and software can poll all of the diagnostic modules and give a more in-depth insight into the issue.

Thanks Herbie, i had already ordered it as i thought it was prudent after 15 years of use. Fitted in the rain this lunchtime and all seems good so far. Will clean up after i finish work and test it driving home.

Hi All, I am not sure if this is ok to be here or needs to be in Engine and Transmission so Mods please feel free to move. So this weekend i nipped across town and on the way back i nipped to maccys and while in the drive through it popped up Check Hybrid System, Check VSC and Check ECS. It was raining hard and i made it back home although it was a bit sluggish (Obviously Hybrid System not running, ABS and TC not working) I have just had my second jab and was feeling crappy yesterday so didnt have chance to look at it. Got back in the car this morning and it was still showing the error. I drove to work (Across town in traffic so nothing over 45mph) turned the car off and back on a couple of times and the Check VCS and Check ECS went away but it was still showing Check Hybrid System. So i nipped out in my break and took off the cover in the boot to the battery and the Negative terminal was really badly corroded. So i am going to replace that and see if it helps/sorts it. I have done a bit of a search and can find a replacement original but they are £229! Can i replace it with a standard battery same size/power/terminal config? As i understand it, it will remove the temp sensor on the battery but would this cause an issue with the ECU/Fault Modules? Does anyone have a recommendation on a brand/model battery to replace it with? I have also ordered a Mini-VCI cable and software to do some further diagnostics (Also wanted one to further my P0017 error i still have but not sorted). As always any help would be appreciated. Thanks Lee, I will drop that guy a message and ask if its in good condition. I am just a little concerned that if its from a high mileage car the Cats wont be in as good condition as my 70K car but i guess i would have some spares to cut and weld in if i need them. Hummmm.... I have actually seen a couple of sellers with what looks like stainless complete sections for around the £270 mark but i am assuming they are just fake resonators that look like CATS.. LOL i have just done an ebay search and one of the first ones that comes up is Tony Banks in leeds.. If you dont mind me asking how much was your mid section?

Oooh, thats not something i have thought about.. I believe they would fit directly to the OEM mounting points as it looks like its a complete replacement for the Shock/Spring/Top mounts. I am sure the Sami could answer that as he has them on his car and could inform us on how they are for road noise compared to the stock ones. Thanks Simon, I believe there is a branch of ETS in Derby that can custom bend and make sections of exhaust if the guy that is looking at it for me thinks its too big of a job for him.

I noticed a short while ago that my car sounded a bit crappy when the engine was on so i popped into a local tyres and exhaust place and they put it up on a ramp and it appears as if its blowing on both sides just after the EGT sensors in the exhausts(See Pic) I am wondering if the clamps for the heat shield have caused it to rust through as it seems strange for both sides to be the same. Has anyone had similar? Has anyone had the pipes after the EGT sensors replaced with either custom bent pipework or an entire replacement section? As it has the CATS built in it costs a fortune to replace the entire section (About £2K) but i am hoping i can get it patched up or cut the pipes at the CAT and get them replaced to the EGT. Any help would be appreciated. 🙂

Mine has only got 70K and only really do short journeys so its a pretty big chunk hence why i am considering a pair or new rears at about £500 plus fitting vs a complete set of coilovers at a fair bit more (About £800 Plus fitting which should be a about the same price as just the rears as they dont have to remove the springs etc) but is the entire shocks/springs/top mounts on the car. While i appreciate that it will remove the active dampening it allows me to lower the car if i decide to change the wheels and i would also think the new technology of the BC coilovers would be as good if not a fair bit better than Lexus 14 Year old technology. On top of that, as Sami has shown, the active dampening doesn't seem to do a great deal. I am currently in the process of saving for a full set of BC. But now my exhaust has started blowing so time to fix that first.. Groan!

Thanks Farqui, I used to know Phil Morrison from Driftworks back in the day when I had my S13 when he was just starting out on the scene. Top lad and has grown a good business out of it. Sami, Weird, I found those stock spring rates from several sources. Doesn't matter really if the ones you bought were 10/8 and you are happy with them. I think I will save a bit more cash and get them. Were they a straight swap out for the stock setup or was there anything particular to look out for? Obviously I will try and get them set to the same ride height as I currently have so I shouldn't really need an alignment but if I went a bit lower I would get that sorted.

It looks as if the standard BC Racing Coilovers are 10/8 Hope you don't mind me asking Sami, how much were the BC Racing Coilovers? Ones I have seen are about £900

Hi Guys, I am going to bump this thread. With all the current stuff happening I have not got this sorted yet (Rear Shocks) but was going to order a pair soon. But then I started looking about for coilover kits and I have found a Tein Flex Z Coilover kit for £685. So instead of just doing the rear I could get the whole car with new coilovers for a little more. My wheels are corroding a fair bit now so not only would I benefit from having a full, new set of suspension but gives me more flexibility if I get some new wheels for a nicer look. Has anyone had any experience with this? Would it be a case of just replacing them and tying up the actuators for the adjustable suspension out of the way? As always, any help is appreciated 🙂

I get a start up rattle and have had the P0017/P0018 error (And a random crank position error). On startup when cold the car is sluggish and missing a little until it gets warmed up then its ok but seems a little down on power. Its as if the timing is either retarded or advanced until it gets warmed up then its better but still not how it used to be. I did have a friends friend who used to work for the Lexus Academy connect do a full management module scan (With the genuine Toyota/Lexus software) and those errors where what he found and after discussing with his colleagues they agreed that it sounds like stretched timing chain. Which is a little odd considering my car only has 70K Miles but I do VERY little mileage per year (Around 3.5K). Love the car and not being a man of great means it took a lot to buy this car but cant really afford thousands in repairs and may have to see what I can get for it and buy another car to get to work.. As much as it would pain me! 😞

They are also on "Make an offer" so will send a message when I get paid to see if there is any flexibility in price if I buy a pair. Again Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the help guys. Looks like the rears are showing as £283 each on Lexuspartsdirect unless I am looking at the wrong ones? Could someone confirm that is the correct part I require are they the same on both sides? Will grab one per month and then get them both replaced. I am pretty sure I was quoted £410-415 each from Nippon in Derby.

Hi all, Has anyone replaced the standard GS450H Rear (Or front for that matter) Shock Absorbers with the non actuated versions from a GS300? One of my rear shocks is leaking and knocking but I cant currently afford to replace both at £450 each plus fitting. So I was wondering if I could replace them with the GS300 shocks (Either a new pair or second hand) while I send off the old ones for refurbishing? Is there an issue with the plugs/actuators not being connected? will I get error messages/lights regarding this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi All, I have been after a Bluetooth solution to stream audio from my iPhone through my ML Audio on my GS450H (2006) but I couldn't get them to work or they were a little expensive. So I was thinking the other day about a little hack that I believe will work. Sooo If others are like me their tape deck has never been used in the car. Soooo is this likely to work?

Hi Matey, I have the exact same issue on my 2006 GS450H. Took it to lexus and for £130 they told me stuff all and wanted to start stripping the engine to check if the timing chain has skipped a tooth.. Which it cannot have as the car still runs and drives fine. After a bit of research I believe the issue is either one of the sensors is faulty, If you plug an obd2 connector into a laptop or tablet it shows one sensor reading is out of spec. The other thing it could be is that one of the VVTI solenoids is stuck in the open position causing it to be on all the time. Generally this will mainly just cause a little revvyness and increases your fuel consumption. Hope that helps a little. I have not got round to sorting mine yet but I do less than 300 miles a month. If you get it sorted please post back :)

Just to update this thread... Well I finally got round to ordering and fitting the Layen I-Dock 4.0 and... It doesn't work... :( It plugs in, it connects to my phone and that's it really. No audio... I have tried changing to the Aux by hitting the "DISC" Button (The one with the round numbers the same way I chose my playlists on my ipod nano) But nothing. I have emailed them and hopefully it is something I have missed but not looking good at the moment. Even though a review on Amazon stated it was working ok with an 07 GS 300 and there are reports of them working ok on the clublex forums.

I think it was an option. I have a rather short cable that comes out in the glovebox that connects to an ipod and goes into the head unit.

That's the idea and fine by me. All I really want to do is play music and podcasts via Bluetooth to my head unit. I know I wont have control via the head unit but that's not a problem. I will get one ordered and report back :)

Has anyone tried the Layen I-DOCK with the GS450H ML Audio system? I spotted it and as I have the old ipod connector in the car thought it would work. There was even a review of someone with it working on a 2007 GS... Sorry I cant link to it but for some reason I cant paste into this window/thread.. Anyway it looks like a neat little solution for simple Bluetooth Audio although it is just Analogue it should be fine for podcasts and music. Anyone tried it?
