  1. Hi Andy, I had a very similar issue a little while ago. Replaced the main 12v battery (With a Yuasa) as there was a lot of green oxidisation round the negative terminal and it did not sort the issue. Ended up taking it down to Richard at Hybrid Battery Solutions and he sorted the Hybrid battery for me. It was £850 all in but that may vary depending on how well the cells can be refreshed and how many need replacing. He really knows his stuff and provides an invaluable service for these cars. I dont believe you can read a hybrid battery fault using a standard OBD reader, i think you need a Mini-VCI cable with Techstream. This can be bought for about £25 on Amazon but for it to work you need a old laptop running a 32Bit OS (Windows 7 or 10) the software will install on 64Bit OS but you need a firmware/emulator for the Mini-VCI Cable that does come with it but does not work in a 64Bit environment.
  2. Possibly a stupid question, Is it an electronic alarm inside the car or could it be the wear indicators on the brake pads? when you say you can hear it when the car is in neutral is that while the car is stopped in neutral or rolling in neutral?
  3. Just to bump this as i am looking to get them replaced. Has anyone done this yet? KYB Rear shocks for GS300 are currently £150 a pair from a company on Ebay. I have seen the video of the guy that replaced the front ones with GS300 struts and went straight in with no issues. I dont mean to seem as if i am penny pinching but currently i dont have the money to spend on 2 x £300+ each when i can get a full set and replace front disks and pads at the same price for similar money. I am just trying to get the car running and driving a little better (And pass its MOT in Sept) for a little while until i can afford to replace the car. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
  4. Sorry to bump this. What sort of issues/symptoms would it cause (Apart from pushing all the fluid through the system) if the calipers were replaced (Hoses clamped) and then bled as normal? I had a strange thing happen where when i drove to work(about 6 miles) the car would be fine but when i drove home later in the day about half way home i would get what felt like a slight vibration from the rear passenger side. It was like BRRRRRRRRRRRRR when the brake was pressed. We re-bled them again at the weekend and checked the pads were seated correctly but just checking if it happens again. Thanks.
  5. I have looked into this and apparently it can be done. I think I am going to do the rears with them as the cheapest I can currently find are about £300 each and i can get a pair of KYB for GS300 for £149 the pair! I think I can get the whole car done with new KYB GS300 shocks for a little more than 1 of the Lexus GS450h OEM rear shocks. I am just really doing some parts to the car to get a bit more life out of it till I can get some money saved up to change it a couple of years down the line.
  6. Just to update this. I took my GS450h to Richard and he sorted my issue out. I took it down on a Saturday and collected the following Saturday (I am not sure if this is available for everyone as i am not too far from him). He replaced 4 of the cells in total and refreshed the rest of the cells to over 5000Ma and he says apart from the ones replaced the rest were in great shape. The car has driven fine since the refurb and the Hybrid Battery seems to charge and last very well i am even sure that i am getting better fuel economy but that may be a mixture of the refurbished battery pack and refurbished rear calipers/brakes. Great Service by a very knowledgeable guy at a great price. Highly recommended to anyone with hybrid battery issues. Thanks Richard Now onto the Shock Absorbers
  7. I did send the seller an email but as i was desperate to get the car back together at the weekend i ordered them anyway. Received an email last night and he states he purchases them from a US company and he believes they originate from a Chinese manufacturer made to their specs. He has sold a lot of these kits as well as loads from the same company for different manufacturers vehicles and has had no issues with them at all and their fitting and quality have always been great. He says he is also happy for me to return should they not fit correctly or have any quality issues which is fair enough and he has 100% feedback. Received them this morning and they seem to be the correct ones and they quality seems good. They are silver btw if anyone interested. 🙂
  8. I just called Bigg Red and its not a set that they can get. I have asked the ebay seller where they are manufactured. I have checked the clips in the pic and cross referenced with the ones from the diagram and they look identical.
  9. I am sending mine off tomorrow and will call them to check about the accessories.
  10. Does anyone have any links to accessory kits, springs and pins, for the rear calipers for 2006 Lexus GS450h? I am sending my calipers off to bigg red this week and the springs are not in great shape so thought it would be an idea to replace them all while doing the calipers, disks and pads. I have found these on eBay but just checking it’s the correct ones and right price. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303993511497?hash=item46c76cde49:g:h-YAAOSwfZtbDs9p thanks.
  11. Hahaha... Richard, you must be a bloody mind reader! I was going to give you a call this afternoon to discuss but I got a little busy! I will call you tomorrow at lunchtime if that is convenient for you?
  12. Well after finally getting a laptop i can use with the techstream software it is diagnosing the error as P0A80 Replace Hybrid Battery pack.. 😞
  13. Actually scrap that.. I misread... Its showing as £181.99 and this Incurs a £47.99 Surcharge 😮 Looks like i will have to get them on order from the US and wait.
  14. Ah right.. I wanted to get it sorted next week so i think i will go for the padgid ones from eurocarparts.
  15. Just a little update.. On the drive into work today i took it easy and was using the transmission along with light braking and it did not come up with the error. I am assuming that not enough force was applied to the rear brakes not causing the calliper/pad to stick and not popping up with the error. I have just found these in stock but i have not heard of them before, has anyone used them? The price seems along the lines of the Rockauto ones without the hassle of overseas shipping and import duty etc. Brake Caliper ELSTOCK 87-1613 Rear Axle Right, behind the axle — Buy now! (autodoc.co.uk) Brake Caliper ELSTOCK 86-1613 Rear Axle Left, behind the axle — Buy now! (autodoc.co.uk) It also looks as if they have the same Budweg calipers for a few pounds more so i will probably go with them. 16. Thanks for your input Colin. Unfortunately i am unable to give it a go myself as my drive is sloped and i need to use the car (however poorly) to get to work, which is only 6 miles from my house. I have just borrowed an older laptop so i can install Windows 7 32Bit to get the Techstream software and the cable firmware to work. I will be sorting this tomorrow and doing a full diagnostic at the weekend. I can pull the battery for a couple of minutes and the car drives fine for a short while. Once i apply the brakes for a little while, when i pull off i can feel like something is stuck at the rear of the car for a short while then the error comes on. I am hoping that because the callipers are seized and the pad gets stuck and it causes an ABS error. I guess once i have done a more in depth diagnostic it will tell me more. I have owned the car for 9 years now and although i have had a check engine light on for a few years that appears to be related to the timing chain but the car has still ran and driven fine and has not cost me anything other than servicing with a local garage, tyres and more recently an exhaust repair. I do intend to get the timing replaced some time i just have not had the ability due to no one in the local area (I have just found out about Lex-Tech in Sheffield) and financial constraints due to work. I still love the car and it has treated me well, still in great condition on both the exterior and interior and stands me at nothing, I don't mind putting a little bit of cash in it to it to get me back up and running for a little while until i can get the cash together to get the timing chain sorted or get a newer model. Thanks for your help 🙂
  17. Thanks Steve, Which one of those would you recommend? Edit: From Rockauto. I unfortunately do not have the facility to take them off and get them refurbished. I was thinking these: OWER STOP L3313 OE Stock Replacement; Reman Info Rear Left £36.11 £17.06 £53.17 Add to Cart POWER STOP L3312 OE Stock Replacement; Reman Info Rear Right £36.11 £17.06 £53.17 Add to Cart Although they dont say they come with the bracket it looks like they do if the pic is accurate.
  18. Can anyone point me in the direction on a non oem part for these? Looks like both calipers on the rear are seized, one a lot more than the other and it has caused damage and corrosion to the disk. So i have ordered some new disks and pads but i am struggling a little with replacement calipers. Eurocarparts seem to have padgid ones for £181 including £48 surcharge. Is this about what i am looking at? Thanks in advanced for your help 🙂
  19. Well it looks like my suspicions are about right.. I will post in the Brakes section to keep it a little tidy.
  20. Hi All, Does anyone have a recommendation on some spark plugs for my GS450H? I believe they should be platinum or iridium but i am struggling to find the correct ones or a suitable alternative. I did do a search but couldnt find specific info. Apologies if i have missed it. Thanks 🙂
  21. Yet another update.. I drove it home last night with the error still flashing away and hybrid system not working. Pulled off the battery terminal for a couple of mins and started up all ok without the error. Drove it round the block and it was fine. Woke up this morning, still no errors but while driving to the garage i was stuck behind a bus waiting to go round it. When i pulled away i felt a bit of resistance from the rear of the car and the error message popped back up. I am getting an oil change and the mechanic is going to check all the ABS sensors and connectors along with all the disks and pads (Pretty sure i am due them). Could this be the result of a sticking/seized rear caliper throwing up issues with the ABS? i have to grab a laptop i can run Windows 7 32Bit from a friend so i can run techstream so might be a couple of days before i can get that sorted.
  22. Well another update.. I have sorted the window issues. I had accidently pressed the window lock button so the other windows wouldnt work on their own switches. I sorted them now and they work. But after nipping to sainsburys i went over one of their rubber speed bump things and went back to the Check Hybrid System, Check VSC, Check ECS. I am hoping its just bad connection to one of the ABS sensors and have it booked in for Oil and Filter at my local garage tomorrow so will get him to check all the connectors and clean them up. If that doesnt sort the issue then i will get the diagnostic software installed on my laptop and see if that gives me a better idea of what the issue could be.
  23. Well cleaned up all the terminals and ensured they were tight. Even cleaned off the metal where the earth strap fixed to ensure its getting a good ground and still the same.. Couldnt find the fuse that is related to the power windows in the fuse box so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. Guess its searching time.
  24. Unfortunately they dont seem to be working on their own switches or from the driver switch panel. I am going to double check the battery terminals and ground point at lunch just to rule that out. Is it possible that in fitting the new battery i have blown a fuse? Is the drivers window on a separate fuse to the other 3? I did also notice while removing the battery there are 3 fuses on a cable that clips to the battery hold down. Are they related? I was going to check those just in case i had dislodged them when removing the battery.
  25. Oh yeah deffo.. I will look at grabbing a new one that is IOS compatible when i get chance and i also like that i can have another live readout of information and simple diagnostics. All seems to be working now and no Check Hybrid System and Hybrid seems to be kicking in all ok now. One Odd thing i did notice on the way home is that all but the driver power window has now stopped working. It was working fine before i changed the battery, could i have blown a fuse while changing the battery or is it more than likely that i have not tightened the battery lugs enough?
