  1. Hi MandCandk, How much did the dealer charged you? If you don't mind me asking. Cheers. £60 + VAT, so £72 in total.
  2. I just had to replace mine and I dropped into Lexus Leicester and they fitted it and did all the windows/boot/sunroof reprogramming at no extra charge while I waited :) Saved me the hassle of getting cold and I would have forgotten to do the reprogramming bit.
  3. Hi, I've only had my RX400h for a year but can tell you that short trips in the cold weather mean running on engine only as it needs to warm up to operating temperature. I do a 2 mile trip to drop my daughter off at school and in the cold weather unless I remove my foot completely from the accelerator it uses the engine. Now it has warmed up a bit I can do about half the journey on battery. The longest I've had the car run on battery for was about 4 miles although you do have to be careful and any large hills, stop-starts or other drivers that can cause the engine to kick back in. The speed you drive isn't important for when the battery is used, it's how heavy you are with your right foot. I'm currently getting 27-33 mpg out of mine which compared to my last car is heavenly. I have no idea about a caravan but I'm assuming it would tow better than a normal petrol car thanks to the batteries. hope this helps and I await to be corrected if I'm wrong on anything.
  4. going from my own knowledge on my RX400h (which isn't great).. 2 in front dashboard near windscreen, 2 in A pillar, 1 in center of dash, 2 in front doors and 2 in each rear door unit.
  5. I got mine from a Lexus dealer and it was advertised as an SE (MM). it has everything except the rear screens but a couple of tablets and some headrest clips solve that problem
  6. Compared to my last car, a Jag, the Lexus has been cost free so far. It doesn't matter what car you get you're not guaranteed a niggle free car. I've had 8 cars in 7 years and every one has had its problems. We want so much technology in our cars but we want it to work perfectly, technology, in my opinion is never going to be 100% problem free otherwise i'll be out of a job.
  7. I got a pen type tyre pressure gauge from eBay for £2 and it also came with a tyre tread depth gauge. Remove valve cap (if unlike me you have some left on the car) press onto valve, read pressure and repeat 3 more times. link here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280870151539&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160
  8. Manually check your tyre pressures. Personally I never trust a system to tell me when my tyres are low. Takes me 10 seconds a wheel to check and I should do it every day but I only manage to do it every 2-3 days.
  9. Mine was advertised by Lexus as the SE MM and has the upgraded 11 speaker Mark Levinsen sound system with 6 DVD changer in the dash .. it just doesn't have the rear screens. Most of the ones I looked at were MM models and all 4 of them only differed from the SE-L by not having the rear entertainment.
  10. Just an update. I've just been on holiday for a week in Wales and have done 655 miles. The first tankful returned 30.21 mpg and I managed to get 355 miles from it before the light came on. On the return trip I was in a hurry to get home so didn't think of fuel economy and I've done 300 miles and have just under a quarter of a tank left so expect to have slightly lower mpg (326 miles @ 26.86mpg). I'm very happy with that as most of the week was up and down twisty welsh mountain roads.
  11. nowhere near 450.. about 280 on average but I'm sure it'll get better when I adjust my driving style and if I can work out how long I can go after the fuel light comes on.
  12. if it's a 75l tank my fuel gauge must be broken :) I get 2 weeks out of a tank and am averaging about 24mpg. I'm not driving it as I should as I'm still in the mindset of my last car, which did 14mpg and had 140BHP more than the RX, that cost £25 more to fill up and did 70 miles less per tank so I'm still happy.
  13. I've had my RX400h for about a month now and I've just filled it up for the 3rd time. I'm filling it up when the light comes on as it's a new car to me so not risking running out. It has taken 52.86 litres, 54.72 litres and 52.72 litres on the fill ups but I was told it had a 65 litre tank so plenty to spare. multiply it by your local fuel cost, mine has been 139.9,138.9 and last one 134.9. so £74, £76 and £71 more or less :) hope this info helps
  14. I've not long purchased an RX400h and the only difference I could find was that the SE doesn't have the DVD screens or the Mark Levinsen 11 speaker system. I got a 2008 SE MM (Multimedia package) which has everything the SE-L has except the rear screens (which comes as ICE package), but for that I use a tablet and headrest mount. If there is anything else different I could not find it, nor could Lexus tell me any different.
  15. I was sorting stuff out in the car earlier, using a compressor to do the tyres and had the doors open and the radio on. I thought I'd turned the engine on but I'd only turned it far enough for the dashboard lights to come on. After about 30 minutes the radio turned off and the car started beeping at me. Realised my mistake and started the engine and my tunes started playing again. With all the battery problems is this something they added later on to warn people or was it on all models/ages. could not find anything in the owners manual about it. i can only assume it was a warning for the battery being low, I didn't notice any warnings on the dashboard.
  16. My fronts are wearing on the inside of both tyres so I'm taking it in to get it checked as there is obviously something causing the problem.
  17. I have found this listed in the RX 400h Lexus personalised settings PDF..but no idea if it's for UK spec cars or not.. going to ask my dealer later this week. One motion power back door When opening the rear door, the vehicle can be programmed for the following: After unlocking all the doors, then pressing the rear door release button on the remote key, the rear door will open automatically. After pressing the rear door release button on the remote key, the rear door will open. (Doors do not need to be unlocked first) (Standard) * Note: Option #16 is not available if one motion (#2) is selected. The back door will not lock automatically after it has been opened and then closed. You can lock the back door, with your vehicles wireless remote, when you leave your vehicle.
  18. Shipping comes in at around £40 which isn't too bad, would cost about £200 for both armrests delivered. Not a priority atm but sometime soon :)
  19. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone had fitted larger armrests? Was thinking about these.. http://www.jjproduct...yota/index.html anyone fitted these or something similar? thanks Martin
  20. Hi all, I've had my new (to me anyway) 2008 RX400h for 5 days now and everything is absolutely great with the car except one thing annoys me with the power tailgate, it doesn't open remotely when the car is locked. My old 5 series BMW would alloy me to open and close the tailgate with a single press of the button on the key which was extremely helpful when carrying large heavy items. Does anyone know if this is something that can be enabled rather than me having to unlock the car, open the tailgate, close it then lock the car again? thanks in advance
  21. I have a similar question in regards to putting side bars on a RX 400h. Can't find much info on fitting requirements, all the adverts say they attach to pre-existing holes but according to a Lexus mechanic theses holes don't exist. Can anyone confirm if they are a straight bolt on without drilling or modification?
  22. Hi all, I've just put a deposit down on a 2008 RX 400h which I'll be picking up on Wednesday. After reading all about it on here before going to the dealer it seemed like I knew what I was talking about . Going to miss the power of my Jaguar Super V8 but I'm going to love the running costs of the RX. Look forward to learning lots more about the car and will probably have some questions after I get it.
