  1. Hi Bobby, Many thanks for the information, very interesting. Waleed came out trumps then, nice to know that we have technical expertise in our area. When you say that he replaced one of your cats, would this be the exhaust system catalytic converter or a sensor? Would the Lexus dealer (with the junior technician) be located in Bracknell? Glad to hear that it worked out well for you. Barrie
  2. Hi Bobby, Just wondered as I have an RX300 same vintage as yours. Barrie
  3. Hi Bobby, What is the problem with your ECU? Barrie
  4. My SE-L (2003) is approaching its 10th birthday. Air suspension so far, so good. Barrie Sorry, previous post sent in error.
  5. My SE- is approaching its 10th birthday, so far, so good. Barrie
  6. Hi Bobby, How about trying UKTEKNICS in Maidenhead, they appear to have quite a selection of diagnostic equipment. Waleed is usally very helpful. Good luck Barrie
  7. Actually there is a Lexus fixed price service scheme. http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/lexus-servicing/#/Introduction
  8. Hi Gary All paints, not just vehicle finishes, were changed under the (I believe EU) Law in year 2005. My 2004 model RX300 finish looks almost new with no discernible blemishes. I have heard several complaints regarding the revised paint chemistry from both the motor and decorating trades. It may be that the Supergard reacted with the vehicle finish You should find references to 'The Volatile Organic Compounds in Paints, Varnishes and Vehicle Refinishing Products Regulations 2005' via google. Good luck with your claim Barrie
  9. I would have thought there would be a standard charge for each level of service throughout Lexus Main Dealers. Maybe that's why they are commonly known as Main Stealers!
  10. Quite right Andy, it is an awfull design. It appears to be a common problem therefore even if you do find a replacement it may not be a cure.
  11. Hi Bobby, I purchased mine last September from puravent, a well known filter company, it was the upgraded filter costing £18.66 inc. postage. Paste link below into your browser http://www.puravent.co.uk/filters/display_filter.php?id=386∂=M2194 Kind regards Barrie
  12. I have the same problem, have to 'thump' the lid with fist, usually several times, to get it open. Tried WD40 but to no avail. Barrie
  13. I have a heater problem with my RX300 SE-L (09/2003) - 2004 model. Has anyone experienced the following fault, or any ideas what the problem could be? No heat flow from passenger side heater vents (aircon OK). Driver side heater OK. Radiator coolant level full. If heating temperature controls are set to 'max hot' there is a slight smell coming from the driver vents but this goes completely as soon as soon as another temperature is selected. The cabin filter is new. There is no difference to these conditions whether the 'Dual' switch is set to independent or linked mode. Many thanks for your replies Barrie
  14. I was informed, many years ago, that dishwashing detergents such as Fairy Liquid were thickened using salt, thereby prone to cause metal components rusting.
  15. I am puzzled re. tyre speed rating as the top speed capability of the RX 350 is limited to 112mph. The 'H 'speed rating means the tyre is safe up to 130mph (exceeds the RX350 limited top speed by 18mph). It seems excessive to demand V (149mph) rated tyres to be fitted. Or is there something I am missing here? Of course, if caught driving at 112mph, the whole argument would be rendered academic as one would not be driving for a very long time!
  16. My RX300 was bought with an AA Inspectors report that did not mention the different tyre makes on front axle as opposed to the rear axle. It did, however, report that the speed ratings were different - 99HR and 99VR respectively. As I have no intention of driving in excess of 130mph I think the HR rating would be sufficient. Although tyre wear, apparently, has little effect on a dry road, it does have a major effect in the wet. According to published figures for a complete stop from 60mph the stopping distance with 8mm tread is measured and identified as 100% effective but with 4mm tread it is 120% and at the legal limit (1.6mm) it is 160%. So maybe fit budget tyres and change at, say, 4mm tread depth if absolute safety is paramount. (ref. http://www.etyres.co.uk/tread-depths-distance).
  17. My RX300 MK2 is fitted with Bridgestone Potenza on the rear and Nexen Premier Classic CP521 on the front. No problems so far. When the Bridgestones wear out, provided I do not have problems, I will replace them with Nexens.
  18. I agree with Bobby, UK Teknics provide an excellent and friendly service, very customer orientated. I had my transmision oil and coolant chamged today on my 2003 RX300 using the Lexus recommended T-IV oil and super longlife (pink) coolant, total cost £150. Barrie
  19. Maybe try UKTeknics in Maidenhead. See their website or telephone 01628 626 996. I have just received a quote from them to replace my transmission fluid and flush/replace coolant - total cost £150. Barrie
