Welcome to the club Steve.
Firstly I am def. in the market to buy a second hand IS200. Taking into account the alloys and other bit I would prefer a SE or sport, is there much difference between the two and which would people recommend. The sport seems to be more popular on here, it comes with a few more modifications than the SE. i.e LSD, lower suspension, metal pedals to name a few.
They both share the same engine, brakes etc. You can only get an automatic gearbox on the SE.
What should I be looking for when it comes to buying, how have you owners found having these cars, they have a tremendous rep. for relability, is this justified. Having a fiat at the minute I really what something classy and above all else reliable and rattle free.Generally these are very reliable cars but there are a few things they seem to suffer from, corroding wheels, ball joints, notchy gear change on the manual gearbox. Do a search on this site these items there will be loads of info.
Are the running cost bearable, I believe mpg isn't great, that isn't too much of a problem as I dont do a great number of miles, but what about servicing and parts.MPG is not great its about 28mpg depending on how you drive and main dealer prices are at the expensive end however the dealers are in the main very good.
I hope this helps.

I could not vote as I keep mine in my pocket.
I have a Bluetooth car kit so it recognises the phone as soon as I turn on the ignition. The phone only has to be in range for the car kit to make the connection.
All done with smoke and mirrors I presume.

Scarface.
As the 3 points will be my sons first points since passing his test will he lose his licence bearing in mind he has 6 points from his moped days which were all on his provisional licence?
This is an interesting question, as I have not come across someone before who has had 6 points on a provisonal, then passed there full drivers licence.
I would say that DVLA could possibly see this as 6+ points, and ask for the licence to be revoked, but I would advise that you call DVLA direct.
Regards,
Scarface
Thanks for the reply.
One other question.
My sons previous points have a convition date of December 2001 so the 3 years would be up this month.
With a fixed penalty speeding ticket, what would be the conviction date?
would it be the same as the offence?
So Would the new points be added at the conviction date or the offence date?
Sorry thats three questions.

ScarFace Posted Today, 11:29 PM
Points are technically valid on your licence for 3 years from the time of conviction, not the time of offence.
They stay on your licence physically for 4 years - and the insurance company will want to know about your points for the previous 5 years !
If you collate 6 or more points in your probatioanry driving period (2 years)
You loose the full driving licence entitlement,
you must
*) Re-Apply for a provisional licence
*) Re take a theorey test
*) re Take your practical.
And once you have passed all of this .... DVLA will give you your FULL licence back .... with the points still on it !!!
Regards ....
Scarface.

My son has recently passed his driving test (within the last 6 months) and has just been snapped for speeding and received a ticket in the post.
Now his dilema is, he has 6 points from his days of moped riding which were collected on May and June 2001.
How long to these points stay on his licence?.
I understand that he is not allowed more than 6 points in the first two years of passing his test. Is this in addition to the points he had before he passed?

A question for those of you that have managed to mute your radio from your telephone handsfree kit.
Do any words appear on the radio display, i.e "phone" or "mute". or does it just mute the radio without any change to the display.

Help - Problem With My V5
in Lexus General Discussions

Mine was exactly the same.
The V5 said it was silver and the car is also Granite Sky, I sent it off to the DVLA and had it changed to Black. No problem.
