  1. that the IS will be available from mid October and the RX400 from June.
  2. I've got a Navman 630 in mine. fits nicely in the dash tray with the power lead to one side. Got mine from the US for £255 all in and delivery took 3 days. Already had the software aqnd now have US maps to boot. All in, its easy to use with Road or Postcode input. Go for it- I'm pleased I got mine. J
  3. Anyone got one? How do they fare? Just brief, but thinking of getting one. Thanks, J
  4. Driving back from golf this morning, just doing normal speed round a roundabout and I lost the back end Ending up travelling backwards and the car bounced up over the kerb and landed with all four wheels on the path facing the wrong way. As they say, the lord smiles on the righteous as I missed a lamppost by millimeters (and it was millimeters!) I watched it in slow mo' going past the drivers door, front wing, getting closer all the time! Bit shaken, but when I got home I checked the car over and there was just one muddy alloy, no stratches, dents or dings. Booking the car in for a once over tomorrow but was just lucky no-one was a. behind me or b. on the path! First time its happened in this car, and to be fair, I never had it as bad in my old BM. But still a timely reminder to everyone now its getting cold and frosty in the mornings! J
  5. We have both in our house! I've got the Lex and my wife has a diesel Rav, 4 door in blue. Its very nice, not as refined (obviously) as the Lex, but it holds its own, and I find it speedier to drive than my IS auto. Good driving position allthough the seats arent as comfy.. I dont think I would have another IS- least not until the new model comes in, but as we change them every year, I'd upgrade to the RX or downgrade to a Rav. My wife really likes it and would defo get another one. (just to pi$$ Mr Livingstone off, as she only uses it for the school run!) J
  6. Based on my wifes 04 Rav diesel I would be more than happy to convert to an IS diesel- we swap our cars about quite often, and I'm always surprised how nippy the Rav is compared to my IS. The low down grunt on it is great and I do enjoy racing off at the lights in it!
  7. Or you could use LimeWire..........
  8. My sympathies....... Exactly the same thing happened to me in the car park at work. Came out and some nice person had reversed into the rear quaterpanel just above the light and damaged the bumper. All in all it came to just over £1100 of damage- not bad for a car I'd had 10 weeks! It was nice to know that some nice git I work with did it and didnt bother to leave a note...........
  9. I know that alot of you guys are in IT, and I would be grateful for your opinions on the following: A mate of mine has just designed my website, he did it as a favour, but I said that I'd like to give him something for it- can any of you guys just check it out and tell me what it would cost to do on the 'open market'? Thanks in advance! Jason www.jasonsinclair.co.uk
  10. I'm surprised the Lexus GB car was in such poor condition, as before we hand them back they go over them with a fine tooth comb- the list of charges for putting everything back up to 100% are pretty hefty!!! (each scratch costs £80 to put right, alloy scuffs may mean a wheel refurb or a new wheel(at dealer cost). Glad to see the dealer was so good.
  11. Hi, I'm Jason, 35, married last year to Rachel. Have one son, Scott who's 5. I work for myself, (for a change not IT), but Food Styling- what is that I hear you ask?? Look in Waitrose Food Illustrated. I'm the one who makes the food sooo pretty for the photographer!! My wife works for Toyota GB in their finance dept. The plus side is that we get cheaps cars through I got the Lex 4 months ago (currently in the garage 'cos a nice van reversed into it then drove off..) Rachel has a Rav4, which I must say is rather nice- Hard to spot the difference between some of the switches and nobs tho'.. The good thing is we change cars every year, so I thought I might go for an RX next year as the current IS range is looking a little tired now......... Thats all I can think of, and oh yeah, no mods as the car officially belongs to ToyotaGB.... oh well, the price of cheap motoring!
  12. I wonder if anyone can offer any advice on the following: I am entitled to a company car, but the company introduced about 18 months ago an opt out scheme where by you get a cash allowance each month. There has been a freeze on ordering new cars, but I have in writing that it is not the case if you wish to 'opt out'. I had the opertunity to get an IS200 through my wifes company(toyota, as part of their employee scheme) so ordered one. I got agreement from my line manager, got my forms signed off by my MD (we are part of a much larger company). I arranged with our transport department to have my car old collected and thought that was that. However, I have just been informed by our HR Director(in a friendly chat) that until my form is Authorised by him, no money will be forthcoming (and that includes back dated payments). It transpires that this freeze on new cars also includes 'opting out' cars as well, so he wont be signing the form anytime soon.... I am pretty agreived about this,as at no time was this communicated to me had that been the case, I would not have commited myself to the Lex, or arranged to have my old one sent back. By the time this is sorted out I will be seriously out of pocket (currently 'owed'4 months in arears). Have I got a case to go on? -I was told I could opt out -I was told that the 'freeze' on new cars didnt apply to 'opting out' -Our transport department arranged to collect my old car, knowing full well I now had a new car. Sorry if its a bit long, just trying to remember all the facts! Thanks, Jason
  13. Its official that last year, BMW sold more 3 series than Ford sold Mondeo's. So they are in fact, more common- which is true, judging by the amount of poverty spec 318's I see on the M25 every day- I especially like the ones that dont even have the door handels painted!!! Classy!
  14. Check this out then.......... www.chavscum.co.uk Coming to an estate near you!
  15. Got my new lex at last! Very nice, SE Auto in Granite Sky, new alloys, full leather etc. Some observations from my recent change over to a Lex. Interior- nice, but I miss the steering wheel mounted audio and fuel computer. Engine, nice sweet six pot, slower than an equivilent BM, but seeing that the last car got me 9 points on my licence I'm not complaining!! But overall, I LOVE IT!!!!!!
  16. Unfortunately, any car kit is out of the question otherwise I would fit one! So...a headset it is!
  17. I'm getting my new IS this afternoon! :D But I cant have a car kit in it so will need to get a bluetooth headset (or similar). Can any other members recommend one? Thanks, Jason
  18. Just a thought...is it possible to c**y these discs? Not entirely legal/ethical...but has anyone done it?
  19. Now I can really join in now I've ordered my new Lex! I posted just before Christmas as I was opting out of my Co car scheme and was looking at a secondhand one as my new car... Well, some time has passed and had some good and bad news along the way. Just after i told work I was opting out my wife was told she was being made redundant at the end of March,so that put some pressure on financialy, however... GOOD NEWS! :D She got herself a job working for ToyotaGB at Burgh Heath(head office). Cool! job sorted so thats okay. Then she gets her job offer stuff through..she can join the employee car purchase scheme...good for her I think...then even better...can get 2 cars- excellent! Then find out I can get a Lexus!!! Super excellent news.....so, she joins, we get the forms through and....I can get her the Rav4 she wanted plus my SE auto for my whole car allowance!! :P :P Its even taxed and insured for us. How cool is that- the best thing is they are changed every year (well every 364 days!) So in the next 4(ish) weeks I will be getting my next IS in granite sky- with the new wheels and interior! BAD NEWS Is that I cant mod it at all.............. But for now, I cant wait!! Clocks ticking!
  20. Quite bizzarely the first car I saw this morning leaving for work was this colour- it sort of looked like a bluey battleship grey....
  21. Just on the website and cant work out what colour it is. Looks lighter/darker than Granite Sky, but just not sure what!
  22. Just costing up a SE auto Nav and realised that it cost more than the Sport Nav. Which is better?- I quite like the autobox but is the 'extras' with the Sport worth it?
  23. Just picked up a widescreen 7inch player 'in a bag' for car use in a Walmart just outside Chicago for the princly sum of £103.00 (or less depending on how the dollar goes before I get my bill in!) Converted it to multi region when I got back and I'm really pleased with the picture and performance. Comes with the remote control/ car adapter etc etc. All in all a great little buy bearing in mind how often it will be used on a long journey..
  24. Check out: www.e36coupe.com They do an angel eye kit for about £40 ish. They come in white and aqua and are just the rings that can b made to fit other diameter lamps. The members on there rave about them, and seem to be pretty easy to fit. Hope that might be of interest to some!
  25. :o i've driven past that place loads of times! Not that many cars though, a few FTO's and Celica's. (all the rest must have been out the back :winky: )
