Hi all, I've got a set of 4 RX wheels in my garage with (I think maybe Brigestone rubber, approx 3mm tread) free to a good home. If there's any interest drop me a pm. J

After having an IS300 and then moving to the RX i found it was becoming more impractical day to day. Crawling round the worst part of the M25 twice a day and getting sub 22mpg, plus a 1k warranty claim for the air suspension front strut made me change my mind somewhat, plus spending over £400 a year on road tax and spending £80 on fuel every 5 days. Great for the dump run, but when there is just me in the car 95% of the time you seem to think that there are downsides apart from the comfort and driving position. So I moved on to a totally different car- an Audi TT, yes, smaller although can still fit the wife and one of the kids in, but in terms of fuel economy- over double what I was getting in the RX and Road Tax is £175. Build quality is on a par with the RX, has all the toys including a much, much better Sat Nav and phone/ipod/SD Card (x2-64gb) set up. Sorry to see the car go?- in the recent poor weather maybe, but general day to day?- not a bit.... This is what the RX was traded in for...

Was about to get my debit card out until I noticed its £280k plus the VAT.. With another £56k on top its out of my budget :megaangry: By about £320K !!!! J

I've just had to get a new set of 4- its the first time I have noticed that all tyres have their A-E ratings on now- made for some interesting comparisons. Was good to see not only wet grip and dry grip but also decibel rating as well. In the end I went for a set of Hancook Ventus- rated C for both wet and dry handling- the majority of other manufacturers, including the Bridgestone they replaced were either good in the wet, or dry but not both. They weren't extortionately expensive either at around £140 each, but also had a spare set of wheels refurbed on which they all now sit..

Barry, I use an indie in Crawley/Redhill- Toyotec- I wont touch Lexus Croydon anymore. The guy is called Russell who owns it and I havent found fault with any of the work they have done on my current RX, or the IS300 before it. The car was new to me in Feb, Lexus approved, but worth the punt for one year straight after purchase.

Paid £508 for the warranty end of Feb this year, so its paid for itself....

Got the car back today- cost just over £971 and covered by the warranty. The bearing had failed- collapsed in on itself and hence the groaning when turning left. New strut and (£571) top mount plus drop link and tracking...the bearing is part of the strut on the air suspension and not available seperately. J

No, the brearing is in pices- I'd rather not damage the suspension any further, hence warranty repair.

Apologies, its the bearing that has failed and which is part of the strut and non replaceable. New strut 560 , plus labour, plus tracking 900 notes.

Hi all, First big, non general maintinence experience today.. Had my RX in the garage due to creaking top mounts, turns out that its the bush in the top of the suspension leg not the top mount. If the warranty doesnt cover it I'm looking at a bill of just over £900.. (It has been classed as failure and no wear and tear so fingers crossed..) J

I have one in the garage but it isnt mint as the previous owner tried to remove it by thinking that the blank buttons needed to be removed because he thought screws were underneath them... I'll get aphoto up if interested?

its a shame they are closing offices- when I put my plate on I walked into the office at Wimbedon and 10 minutes later was transfered and out the door... Given how poor Swansea are it can only be for the worst- my wife renewed her driving license last week- it came back with ful bike entitlement added!

Hi fella, This is my post from 2011 when I had my IS300: For all those that may have read recently I had some issues coded a 2nd key to my new (to me) purchase last week. The car was taken to Lexus guildford for coding where I was told that my master key was actually a sub key and that they couldnt code my spare key. they did however give me the details of an auto locksmith who said that he could copy the key so it would be a spare, but neither would be the master key. The cost of this was £105 plus vat. I had a look around where I work and found one literally round the corner from where I work in Gatwick and had a chat with him yesterday and booked it in for this morning. The result?? I now have 2 coded master keys, with the spare also programmed for door unlocking as well. The cost?? £150 inc.vat.. The imobiliser was removed and reflashed so that it recognised both keys as Master keys. He went through and showed me that the car actually had 5 keys coded for it!! Anyway, its all sorted, for a relatively small amount- especially if you take into account people and dealers saying you need new keys and an ECU- you dont. you just need a decent auto locksmith who knows what they are doing... For anyone who wants his details- he's Gatwick based but is mobile (and I guess the price charged would reflect that?) I have the Black Vue in my RX, mounted behind the rear view mirrow-not particularly visible to the casual observer.. which was great today when some numpty decided to deliberately drive into my lane at a roundabout to cause an accident. Once I pointed to the camera, smilled and waved to it his demenour instantly changed- now in two minds whether to persue through his insurance co (he's well under 20 years old, so will hurt him) or let him pay for the scrape along my door, wing and bumper.. His whole attitude changed once he realised it was on camera and that it showed him clearly being at fault...

Private Sale?- if so, you have no chance at all. It will be his word against yours if you go small claims, but his defence will be that he was told it, just like you were. Caveat Emptor

Because!! It makes this happen!! ENGINE IS IN VERY POWERFUL AND IN MINT CONDITION I'm going to have to put this in my sig now.

I'm now interested in servicing mine a little more often: after every 8000 Miles i have made sure to service it hence ENGINE IS IN VERY POWERFUL AND IN MINT CONDITION
