  1. Mini update: I posted this elsewhere in the forum but no response, maybe the SC sorts won't talk to GS sorts :) There's a lot of conflicting info given about change intervals on this thread. My situation is that I have a 2000 GS430 with 150K on the clock and had it's belt changed at 98K 8 years ago. I do not know if the water pump was changed at the same time. I've been keeping my eye open for a wee bit newer 430, maybe a 2006, but haven't found one reasonably nearby. I've decided to keep mine and intend to get a few bits and pieces done to make sure I can get another 50K miles out of her. So I intend to have the pump and belt changed shortly. My question is, am I mad, or just being sensible and cautious. All opinions welcomed.

  3. Thanks for that. Would you say there were pretty near OEM? Just checked the prices and they don't seem so far away from AISIN imported from the US. I'm guessing I should have the other belts changed at the same time. That make sense?
  4. I've been humming and ha'ing about trading up a little. Changing my 2000 GS430 for something a little newer, maybe a 2005/6 model. However I've decided to keep mine as it's excellent. So to be safe I'm having the belt, pump and tranny oil done soon. I've been looking around for parts and it seems there's a range of kits (and a range of prices!) available on eBay and elsewhere. After a bit of searching it seems that AISIN is pretty much OEM and can be got reasonably from the US. Are there any other makers that produce decent pattern parts or should I stick with AISIN? All help/advice appreciated.
  5. There's a chap with a LL franchise in Leeds who is excellent. I went there from P'boro for a full S/S system incl new cats for my GS430. Around £750 iirc and that's with a lifetime (transferable) guarantee.
  6. No, nothing more than bottom arm bushes breaking up...
  7. As above, just had an MoT advisory: "Bottom arm bushed breaking up." Is this an expensive fix and is it something I should have attended to sooner rather than later. Also, is it a job that any decent mechanic could do or should it go to a Lexus?Toyota main dealer? As ever, Thanks.
  8. Just checked . It was changed Feb '08 @ 99.5K So I'm guessing that that means I'm ok until 2018 or 200K. Anybody got any thoughts price-wise on the 55 plate?
  9. As above, with 110K miles. Thinking of updating my 2000 GS430 with a 55 plate but not sure what it's price should be. Not sure I will change as there's nothing wrong with my 2000 car with 140K miles on it, just seems a slighter newer car might be a good idea. As I understand it they use the same engine (and what a cracker it is). Not sure if it's a sensible idea or not. By the way, am I due a new cam belt at 140K and 14years? Last change was at around 80K I think. As ever, thanks folks.
  10. So it doesn't sound like it's worth spending so much. It's really more for my wife as I use TomTom/iPhone (plonked into one of those bluetooth cradle things) which is wonderful. But TT is a bit too complicated for SWMBO !! Thanks though, you've saved me some money :)
  11. I'm thinking of maybe getting a new disc. However before I part with best part of 200 euros I'd like to know if it's worth it. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on what the update does, or to what year it updates. Does it for example, allow postcode input? Or is it just more of the same with new roads? Many thanks.
  12. Yes, not only is it a lifetime guarantee, but it is transferable. Not that I'll be selling, it really is such a good car.
  13. Update: Went up to Leeds and got things sorted. Tony Banks holds the LL franchise there. In fact I needed a complete new system. Job was very well done and came in at around £750.
  14. Yup....as Tommy Cooper would say: "Just like that" :)
  15. I managed to get a complete wing mirror assembly from a breaker for a reasonable amount. All I needed in fact was the mirror glass which was perfect, original, and a doddle to fit. Now I have a spare o/s wing assembly complete with (LCD gone) mirror glass.
  16. Bump: i'm having no luck tracking one down. Even registered with one of those breaker broker sites. Not a sausage. Bracing myself for a dealer purchase.......they are just a weeeee bit pricey :( If I find that red Mini driver who whacked it whilst driving on the wrong side of the road and who did not stop............I'll be having WORDS! Thanks folks.
  17. As above. Silver would be a bonus :luck: :D Thanks.
  18. Thanks, I rather thought that might be the case.
  19. I have the chance to get a replacement o/s wing mirror. It's from a GS300 1995 Vin No JT153JSE700100969 What I need to know is if this will fit a 2000 GS430 Can anyone help? Many thanks.
