  1. Yes I have. My hopes were raised by Hellom8's post; http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/65434-water-leak-drivers-side-a-pillar-interior/ but he's not been around. I just wondered if anyone else knew how it could be done. I've also heard about feeding a new tube down the existing one, but haven't found anything to back it up. I suspect it will be a headlining out job, but they're never quite the same taken out after 15 years :-( Ho Hum.
  2. I've searched and searched, but cannot find an easy fix for this. I've had the channels blown out with an air gun, but still have water coming in from the drivers A pillar. I know there are videos showing how to remove the headliner and replace the pipe, but I've also heard that there's away to do which involves minimal removal. Thing is I cannot locate this information. It maybe that's it's not possible but I'd like, if possible, to try this as the headliner is never quite the same after removal (old GS430 Gen2). I'm pretty sure that the problem is that the pipe is detached where it fits to the sunroof drainage pipe, if that makes sense. A pointer to the info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  3. Interesting thread. Do Lexus Ireland guarantee the battery at all? I ask as I was discussing the 450h with Lexus last week and I was told that if you have an annual battery check (around £50 iirc) they will guarantee the battery until the car is eleven years old
  4. Thanks, I have to say that was my view, in fact the two opinions I outlined were both given by garages. I've decided to go with change :) I've just had the pump, belt and trans oil done. Now just need to sort out my VSV & sunroof leak probs !!
  5. Excellent stuff. I realised late last night that the VSC lamp was an MoT (due today) fail. This post saved the day. Thanks
  6. I know this was a while ago, but I have the same problem and suspect that the pipe has come away at the same point. Can I ask how you fixed it? I really don't want to start dismantling the headliner etc.
  7. I've been told by one person that Lexus do not recommend changing diff oil, and by another it does. Who is right? If it does, and I think it probably does, then any idea of the quantity/cost? Thanks.
  8. Looks like I probably need a new VSV for my 2001 GS430. Anybody know the part number? Many thanks.
  9. I'm sure you are aware of the limitations of OBD. To my mind best solution is to get it on a Lexus system and read by someone who knows that system. Clearly I would prefer not to go to a main dealer, but as there's no-one near me with the kit, then that's what I'll have to do.
  10. It's been to my usual garage who haven't fixed it. They don't have Lexus diagnostics which they think they need as does a specialist I spoke to today. It really would be altogether easier if I had a read out. I'm aware of some of the possibilities of the causes of the problems, but a read out should help focus the search without spending an age eliminating each possibility, one at a time. Normally I avoid main dealers like the plague.
  11. Two problems, neither very serious at the moment. 1. Engine is a little hesitant on take off, fine once foot is down. 2. Slight transmission "clunk" sometimes when re-accelerating. Neither very pronounced, but irritating. Thanks
  12. @janey Back to the drawing board. Spoke with Tim. He, like me, thinks it needs to be plugged into Lexus Diagnostics which he doesn't have. So, the next question is, does anybody know if any independents have the right diagnostic facilities. If not it's a visit to the main dealer :(
  13. Many thanks, they're much nearer than Japex.
  14. Thanks, do you know what they do? From their website it seems like a parts co. I need diagnosing and fixing :)
  15. As above, anyone know of a specialist in the Peterborough or surrounding area. I've done a search and Japex in King's Langley seem to come highly recommended. They're about 90mins from me so if there was someone nearer that would be a bonus. Nearest Nearest main dealer is Cambridge but I don't really fancy that. Thanks.
  16. Yup, just paid £100.00 for trans filter kit. Shocking, can't really see how this is justified. Even MB don't charge anything like that....
  17. It would be minor. It alternates between minor and major every 10k miles, starting with a minor at 10k. As part of the initial vehicle warranty you are allowed up to 2,000 miles leeway so services don't tend to fall neatly on those nice round numbers after a few years as owners stretch it out slightly each time and there is always the potential for a vehicle not to have done many miles for a year or two which then means it gets services at 12 months regardless of mileage which completely changes when you think a service is needed. Yes, I don't do 10K pa, but do get a service done annually.
  18. Thanks for that. Very interesting, even if it has lengthened the list of my "jobs to do" :-( Seriously though, I'm getting the belt/pump and a few other things done on the better safe than sorry principle. Had the car booked in last eek, but have been unwell so it'll probably be done in about a fortnight. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the change new transmission oil brings. On my SL it made a tremendous difference.
  19. Yes, I think the false economy argument is holding sway. Given it's eight years and 50K since the last belt change and the marginal increase to replace the pump (which may well be the original) I think to err on the side of caution is the way to go. As a matter of interest, I understand timing belts give no prior indication of failure, do water pumps?
  20. The car hasn't seen a main dealer for years, the previous owner & I have both been using specialists, so good idea, but not possible.
  21. I can understand that, but in my case I do not no if the pump has ever been changed, and as you say, the cost is minimal whilst the other work is being done.
  22. Aye, that's pretty much my thinking, it's a great car in great condition; so my feeling is that going ahead with the changes is just a bit of early insurance. As you say, if it did go twang, it would be a major failure and would be beyond economic repair. I know from my searches there are not too many of these cars around.
  23. Nobody got any observations/comments....?
