  1. £600 seems a reasonably good price. But at that mileage you'll be needing a cam-belt very shortly. No idea of cost but someone else will be along to tell you. I had a 300 before I chopped it in for a 430 (I'm a V8 nut), but had the 430 not been available then I would have happily kept the straight six. A great car. By the way, whats wrong with the stock hi fi ? i had stock in the 300 and have it in my 430. Both were/are fine, very good actually. Maybe there's a fault.
  2. AFAIAW you will increase performance, reduce consumption and fail the Mot.
  3. Four nuts arrived and fitted. Many thanks
  4. Yup...I have it as an add on with my NFU policy. It's basically full UK RAC cover for very much less than RAC. NFU won't/don't/can't cover my SL60, so that has it's own breakdown policy with RescueMyCar at a fraction of AA/RAC costs.
  5. Firstly, as others have said this is a rare occurrence. Secondly, when you say a dealer, do you mean a Lexus dealer? I ask as I bought an older and higher mileage GS430 from a Lexus dealer. Within two months the starter stopped working. After a bit of prodding I got them to collect the car and install a new starter foc.
  6. It is indeed, many thanks, I'll send you my address when I figure out the pm system! Thanks again. Update: Have overcome the technology and sent you a pm! Thanks.
  7. I'll keep looking, as although you think they will fit, it specifically says they do not. If it turns out that they don't fit then I'd have fun with fleaBay trying to sort it out!!. Also, minor point, but they are chromed and my other nuts are not so it would look a bit silly. Update: You are correct. I mailed the seller and he confirms they fit. Now just need to see if he has any not chromed. fingers crossed!
  8. Thanks, I will have a look in the book, but I've got a feeling that they are not the originals as when I had a puncture some time ago, the tool-kit wrench would not fit the lock nut. My local tyre place is very resourceful and they have managed to get one off without any drams, just have to hope that the other three will be the same. Meantime, it's nuts I need :-) By the way I've been unable to get a quote from Longlife Northampton, but did get a decent one from Tony Banks in Leeds. Looks like a day out in Leeds is on the cards, but I'm not in a hurry to spend money as (touch wood) the weld is holding good ....so far!!
  9. As above I'm looking for four nuts. I can't seem to find any Lexus parts sellers (probably looking in the wrong place!). I need them because my security nut has gone missing and I'd rather just have plain old nuts. Nobody would want my wheels anyway! So if anyone has four to sell or knows where I can get them, I'd be grateful. I did see a used set on fleabay but (£14!!) there's really no way of knowing if the threads are still good. Thanks.
  10. Many thanks, that is very helpful, I've emailed them for a quote and I think I'll be going there. Thanks again.
  11. Thanks for that, can I be clear, you order it and then turn up and they fit it? I ask as one mob wanted the car for a few days so that they could copy the existing system. Also, they wanted around £1200 which was a lot more than I expected. Does Tony Banks charge similar to MIJ ie around £600. Many thanks, Ian
  12. I'm looking for a cat-back system for my 2001 GS430. Can you tell me how much it costs and what's involved, ie does he make it and then you go up for fitting or does he need the car for a few days? Many thanks, Ian
  13. That's a lot of car for the money. I had one, loved it, but chopped it in for a 430 cause I like V8's even better!
  14. Thanks for that. Is one actuator per door, and is it located in the door? Thanks.
  15. As above. My front passenger side door has stopped locking and unlocking. All other doors work fine. Nothing happened to it, it just stopped working. Any ideas folks, is it likely to be a diy &/or easy fix or is it time to shake the cobwebs off my wallet? Thanks folks. Car is 2001 GS430
  16. Interesting....I've only driven an SE and I must say the handling is not too shabby :-)
  17. Finally got round to checking service book and I can confirm above, 10 years or 100k. Many thanks.
  18. I had a 300 and liked it so much I chopped it in for a 430. Petrol wise there's very little difference. Both mine were SE's so can't comment on Sport, that said both are comfy without being wallowy like certain MB's I've had in the past. Interior is a nice nice place to be, standard hi-fi is excellent, no rust and all the toys you need. Can't fault it.
  19. Thanks, I'll have a look at the service book in the Morning. Do you know any decent Lexus Indies in Northants or Cambs?
  20. Thanks for that. I can't find it in the manual. Online search seems to suggest that it's either 6/60 or 10/100 depending if it's a mk I or a mk II. Mine is registered 10/2000 which I think makes it an 01 MY and therefore mk II. However I'm not sure. These things are never easy!
  21. My 2000 (MY'01) GS430 has about 140k on the clock. Cam belt was changed at around 85K. When should it be changed again? Any ideas? Thanks folks.
