Hi bluenose I realise this is an old topic but I have recently broken down with the RAC saying it was the EGR valve. When I first got the car (IS220d 09/10 plate) every now and again it would release a lot of smoke out of the exhaust which I now realise was the EGR valve at work. It as stopped working and I have broken down again with the same issue, I stripped the valve down and gave it a clean but my MPG as dropped? I have ordered some of your suggested cleaning kit to give it a proper go but I'm still puzzled why I don't get the EGR cycle of self cleaning from normal running, fingers crossed that this kit will do the job and save me a packet on buying a new one. Keep you posted....... Would you go down the route of a new one or a bypass kit? I read conflicting statements on some forums.

yep that works??? thanks..like a totally different car. once its up to a decent temp i turned it down to 16deg and it idles at 800rpm, weird ??? thanks for the advise

Hello I realise this is an old topic but i have just bought my 09plate IS220D and its really annoying when its idleing at 1200rpm constantly on short journeys which Monday to Friday is 95% of the time. Is there nothing i can do???

Hi normski no the big service as been done but the small car dealer ive bought it off as done an intrim service and stamped the book? does that void my warrenty?

Hi all i have just bought an 09 plate with 60,000 FLSH on but the dealer i bought it off as just done a servise so does this void the warrenty?? in case i have the gasket issue

so does any one know which HID kit is the best? id like to match up all the lights (side,dipped,main and fog) I have a IS220D 2009 which ive just picked up, love it.

its always better with twins bikes standard and like new, they didnt make a penny on the bikes, just determined to beat Ducati. its the most uncomfortable bike i ever had but its the best one ive ever had.......it never fails to put a smile on my face when i get out on it.

If you are lucky enough to get yourself a goodun, you will be more than pleased I can tell you. Mine was the best car I had ever owned that is until I got my 250. I only parted with the 220d because of the very low annual mileage that I do and, I learned that a diesel engine is not conducive to low mileage motoring because of the carbon build-up. Don't dread getting the car, look forward to it. Like me you have very wisely chosen the SE-L version, brilliant. Lots to look forward to. Let us know how it all goes. wow stunning car i really like it. thanks for the advice, i can see peoples points but i think i can live with some of the bad ones.

OMFG what am i buying picking my IS220D Se-L up next week and im already dreading it? Its a used 59 Plate so im hoping all these issues have been sorted. What does the EGR actually do and is it easily maintainable? The fifth injector issue? is it a reaccuring problem or is a first fix niggle? so many more questions but I'll have to wait untill i pick it up and see for myself.
