  1. Is there some secret to resetting the tyre pressure warning system on my 2006 GS300 as I have tried it several times without success? I have a very slow puncture in one tyre which of course means that after a while the sensors sensor the loss of pressure and the warning lights come on. I pump up the tyres to the recommended level, drive the vehicle around to warm it up and then try the resetting process, according to the manual, without any success. Having pressed the reset button the "Initialising Pressure" message comes up for about three seconds before reverting to "Check System". Even sitting in a running car for 20 - 30 minutes afterwards isn't resetting the system successfully. Should the "Initialising Pressure" message remain on until the task is completed? Is there something that the manual does not tell me? I'm sure that there are no other faults as when I had the car serviced a few months ago, Lexus presumably pumped up my tyres and reset the system, as there was no warning lights when i picked it up. Has anyone any ideas or suggestions. Thanks Mike
  2. Indeed. Here in Gloucester one of the main routes into the city is now closed to all traffic other than buses, taxies & Cycles. Other vehicles attract a £60 fine. The City Council are making a fortune from people who are sent that way by out of date sat nav maps. To get back to the original question, I believe that even the latest version of disc would work in a 2005 GS, though I am not sure that the graphics will improve, as seems the case on later versions of the car itself. As for price, I have seen "backup copies" of the DVD's advertised online for about £25
  3. According to my book, once you have pressed the speech button on the stearing wheel you can press "Help" on the touchscreen, then "Command List" for a full list of available instructions.
  4. It is time for me to get that first service on my 2006 GS300. A few months ago I recieved an email from my local dealer introducing me to their "Essential Care" servicing. Does anyone know how this differs from an ordinary service, or is that just the name that they give to all servicing for older vehicles? Cheers Mike
  5. When I bought my GS300 in April it only came with one key fob. Now that I have manged to encourage my wife to start driving the car (it's a bit bigger than she likes), how much should I expect to pay my local dealer to supply a second fob?
  6. When I got my Lexus, it was the day after it was advertised and the dealer hadn't even had time to valet it (and I didn't want to have to travel another 200 mile round trip to give him time to do so). Because the previous owner was a heavy smoker it stank of cigarettes inside. Having tried various products at various prices the thing that cleared the smell - and very quickly - was a small tupperware bowl of cat litter, placed under one of the front seats. Well worth a try if yours is "stinking". ps. I did negotiate a bit of a discount for valetting myself.
  7. I am open to correction on this, but my understanding is that all of the MK3 GS450H's are SEL spec. In terms of differences, the SEL's don't so much have extra kit as uprated or higher spec kit - suspension, gear box, adaptive cruise control, etc. Visually, the only difference seems to be that SEL's have a lip on the boot lid.
  8. The last time I looked, Lexus wanted around £120 for the latest version of the disc. Personally, I still use my TomTom device that I previously owned, which I find not not only more versatile in setting route options but much cheaper to keep up to date.
  9. Having had my first Lexus since April, I am aware that sooner or later I am going to need a service. I have not been in the habit of using main dealers before - but then I have not had a lexus before. Given the sophistication of the vehicle there dont seem to be many independent specialists about, well certainly not in Gloucestershire anyway, so it seems that I will be using my local Lexus dealer. I received an email the other day from Lexus advertising their "Lexus Essential Care" package. Do people consider this to be worthwhile and does it differ from normal servicing? Also, Lexus were offering MOT's for "just £49", when most places are doing it for about half of that. Is there any good reason to use Lexus for MOTs?
  10. Having spent much of the weekend driving around, I took reglar looks at the sat nav - when it was safe to do so of course. I found that generally I was at a junction when it said I was, but sometimes not. I put it down to the quality of the mapping. For instance, driving into Looe, Cornwall the railway line is clearly on your right and yet the map shows it on your left. And yes, it was orientated correctly.
  11. As I am new to this forum and only a recent GS300 owner, could someone please explain how to get into the hidden diagnostics system. Just to have a look around, out of interest, really.
  12. Having only just acquired my GS300 I thought I might be too late for this offer. But no, I filled in the form and a few days later this lovely item come through my letter box. It is even better than the photo shows it. I also notice that the kind person who is sending these out spent more on the postage than the £1.50 that I paid. I also will be putting a few extra coins into the next charity box that I see. Thanks again to Steve.
