  1. I tried all the tricks in the book to cure my judder. The judder would go away for a while (a day or so) after riding the clutch. In the end, i bit the bullet and had an Exedy Clutch replacement today at a cost of £285. Night and day!! The pedal is lighter, easier to use and the judder has gone. I inspected the old clutch plate (an uprated Altezza unit) and it was down to the holes and looking pretty thin. The annoying squeak when depressing the pedal has gone too. £285 well spent and the garage confirmed that the (expensive) Flywheel is fine. Good result, well pleased.
  2. If not, try the top mounts? I've not had it on the Lexus, but on previous cars.
  3. Great thread for me, thanks! My TTE Supercharger rattles a bit. Having had it taken apart and professionally cleaned inside and lubed, it's better, but the refurb showed some light scoring to the rotors and inside of casing. I'd like to replace the main S/C body. (I stoopidly read google and bought a nose cone rebuild kit, to replace the coupler. Don't bother, there isn't one inside the unit - its direct drive, doh!) Does anyone know for sure (100%), which is the correct replacement Eaton M62 Supercharger body pls? Is it for sure the same body as a Merc 230SLK? Will it fit directly to the TTE nose cone, without modification? Will it deliver the same performance etc? From the rebuild photos, there is a 'window' that allows inspection of the rotors from underneath. On E-bay, there seem to be several M62's, with square or triangle shaped 'windows'. Does this matter? Cheers all and I would REALLY appreciate your help. Flinty
  4. What a BRILLIANT post! I've suffered a serious judder since buying the car in July. The car is Supercharged and had an uprated Altezza clutch fitted about 10k miles ago. Nevertheless, my symptoms were the same as described above, and the driving style required - also the same. Perhaps that explains why many IS200's down this way are driven in a certain way... Interestingly, i had a similar problem with a Honda NSX some years ago. That was a £1,300 repair. I tried the 'fix'. Instead of going uphill at 20mph, I simply hit a dual carriageway in 6th, then slipped the clutch for 3-4 seconds.Yes, lots of smell and an almost instant cure for 90% of the judder. Get yourself to 60mph, then clutch down, rev the engine to 5k, then gradually bring the clutch back up to biting point and keep it there for as long as you feel comfortable. I repeated a little later, once the smell dissipated. Pulling away is better and other gearchanges better too. THANKYOU to the original poster of this thread! It maybe not a textbook fix (and may wear the clutch a tad!) but a good one nonetheless to cure the annoying judders. PS before doing this, i did some research and the problem may be contamination (oil) on the clutch plate. How this occurs, i dont know, but the cost of a new Clutch and a new Dual Mass Flywheel is serious dosh - to be avoided if possible.
  5. I just fitted Black rims with 225/40/18. This gives something like 1.9% difference in rolling diameter over 215/45/17 and looks good. Not 100% sure 225/45/18 will fit the arches with no rubbing - recommend check first.
  6. Platinum Ice is v cool, especially with black alloys and blackened windows.
  7. Jezza here, hi Great website and forum guys, thanks for the mine of information! Introduction for the car: Just purchased an IS200 SE 2005/05 plate car as a bit of a project. Platinum Ice, with black leather and satnav. Interestingly, it has the TTE supercharger kit. Think the car has been drifted in the past as the suspension set up is WEIRD. Replacement springs have lowered the front and rear, but the rear is still high and floats around into oversteer in every corner. It drives like a BOAT above 60mph in a straight line. Fun, yes, but worrying the wife a bit! Had the car inspected before purchase and it's basically sound, even though the Eaton M62 has a horrid rattle and the front shocks are 'misting'. Slight crack on rear bumper too. Otherwise, really tidy and the interior looks like its never been sat in. Have already had the Supercharger worked on by a specialist and the M62 is on borrowed time, which I budgeted for. Its been stripped, cleaned and re-lubed which has got rid of the rattle for now. Its a direct drive supercharger, so the replacement Coupler and bearings I bought from the USA are useless! Hey-ho. Looks like i'll be on e-bay for a new charger soon-ish. Anyone know if the first gen Merc 200 SLK Compressor is exactly the same body? or is there another solution? I've also changed the standard 11 spoke alloys (17") and Falken / Autoguard rubber, with some nice DOTZ Rapier Dark 18" rims, with 45 offset and Pirelii P Zero Nero 225/40/18 tyres. Just to evidence that decent rubber is worth paying for, it makes a massive difference to the drive and handling (not to mention the looks), but the car will still definitely need alignment and possibly new springs/shocks to make it handle better and corner flatter. It has some weird unidentified purple coloured springs at the moment, but the rear is too high, which looks wrong. If anyone recognises the car and has any information, i'd be grateful, good or bad! Reg starts DK05 and was owned by a chap in north Essex between @2009 and 2011. Anyhow, I'm in West Sussex and if anyone does meets down this way, I'd be pleased to join in when family commitments allow. Cheers and thanks again for a great site! Jez
