  1. Hi all, My gs450h 's AC system doesnt work. There is a leak, and the system doesnt hold pressure. When i switch the AC button on, i don't hear any difference in engine note, but then these hybrids don't have rev counters, and don't rev like standard petrol car when in neutral. Would the compressor itself be the source of a leak, through a seal maybe? I'm sure the condensor is a possibility as well I have techstream software, is this likely to help though? Also, is the AC compressor powered by a drivebelt, or by the traction battery. Is a compressor swap a big job? thanks
  2. regarding my OP, i had a response from someone on ebay regarding testing the AC system. This all seems rather long winded. Am i better off using the vacuum method? Or shall i just replace the condensor at £45 used, then take it back to ATS and get the system checked? Anyway, here is the response: Good Morning,Thank you for your message. This manifold gauge set will allow you to connect to the a/c system and read current and working pressure. You will need this item in conjunction with ofn pressure testing kit to add positive pressure into the system to try and find the leak. You will require a bottle of oxygen free nitrogen and a nitrogen regulator eBay item number 400094554347.Regards Autokool sales team
  3. @shahpor, no, as stated, they would need to have booked it in to take the trims/system apart to find the leak, and i am not prepared to pay the £50 an hour rate for them to do something that i can do! cheers @britprius yes, the ATS guy did ask if it was a hybrid, and said it will be extra, as special oils are needed etc. I am happy to take it back for regas as opposed to buying the kit and doing it myself, but i need to find the source of leak first
  4. Hi all, my gs450h has duff AC. As none of the pipework was remotely cold, i suspected a leak. I was right. The ATS guy pressurised the system but it didnt hold. He says it could 'be anything' (obviously) but i didnt have time to start taking the system apart. I asked if the UV dye would be visible later when i took the car home, he said no, the dye is only visible when the system is pressurised. Any ideas where i go from here? The condensor maybe? Or more likely, a seal somewhere. Is there a kit i can buy to pressurise the system with normal air so i know where to look? thanks guys/girls
  5. @aceswild Where/how would you go about refurbing the standard 18' wheels on the gs450h? plenty of mobile guys on ebay offer to spray them for £60 apiece, provided theres no corrosion or dents, but i could do that for a tenner with halfords stuff. Each rim does have corrosion and dents, i want them back to as new. What would you recommend?
  6. Hi again. I recently got code p3025. Cell block 15 low voltage or something like that, which occured soon after i was racing someone. The dash is all lit up, the hybrid battery fan stays on when this happens (i can hear it in the back), and worst of all , the car dies every few miles. Just the engine and hybrid power. All the electrics still work fine. (New 12v battery) when it dies, i have to switch off and on again. Its not limp mode, theres no power at all, when it happens. when i refurbed the battery cells a few weeks back, i didnt change any, as they were all showing between 7.6 and 7.9v. I'm guessing i will have to this time but, any ideas why the battery fan stays on (when the dash lights appear) and why does the engine die? cheers
  7. @aceswildI seem to have misplaced the 12 inch 12V battery negative/earth lead. I was cleaning the terminals but now i can't find it anywhere. Do you know the part number for it? I can't get the car running until i have it. Cheers

  9. Lovely Where does this small silver strip go? It looks like it fell off the hybrid lead input to the HV battery
  10. Hiya, I checked my cells on my gs450h, 2007, earlier today. All read between 7.62 and 7.95v. All the copper washers and nuts are corroded though so I will be cleaning them up. Are the voltages stated acceptable though? Cheers
  11. Sorted! Slide it all the way open a few times, thanks messi/madfish!
  12. Thanks. I assume you mean slide it open all the way, then slide it shut? Yes, the car battery was flat the other day, and I had to jump it, but I didn't disconnect it. Cheers
  13. hi all, my 07 gs450h has a slight issue with the moonroof. It slides open/shut just fine, but for the tilt option, it will open, but when i try to close it, which should be a one touch option, it shuts then opens again. I can eventually shut it, but only if i press the 'down' button several times in short bursts, though this usually means i get the 'moonroof open' message on dash, when i either enter or exit the car. It was working fine but now this has satrted, its not the biggest problem in the world, but i would like to sort it .It should tilt closed with one touch, and shouldn't open again by itself. Any ideas?
  14. @aceswildThanks. One more question. I bought 4 used cells, and they are all showing 7.48-7.52V. I havent actually pulled out my current HV battery yet, but the battery is poor in general, i keep getting the EML and the 'hybrid battery deterioration' message. What if most of my good cells show over 8V, like yours did? Do i need to charge the 4 i bought, to around that level? thanks again
  15. Lovely. What would you say is a good, trickle charger? I don't want to spend a firtune on one? thanks again
  16. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161980708427?euid=baeb8111dbdb4046be996d3ddea61834&cp=1&exe=12792&ext=32582&sojTags=exe=exe,ext=ext Are these prius cells the same? cheers
  17. @aceswild An excellent write up! Someone selling these on ebay has the voltage on the cell showing as 7.48v, will that be enough? Most of yours were hitting over 8v? My own gs450h, 2007, has HV battery issues and i intend to open up the pack and recharge/renew as required. Will the car run on petrol engine only once i disconnect the HV battery, and Will the bootlid still open with key, as i may be at it a while, especially if i have to order in some used cells from elsewhere in europe? Many thanks
  18. @eXOBeX Turned out to be NSR wheel bearing, so new hub! I now have ABS, PCS lights on, though i never dislodged anything, as far as i am concerned. Having some trouble pulling out the old sensor, it has corroded a little

  20. Re: my techstream issue, its all sorted now. The driver that came with the cable wasn't working. I downloaded the 2.0 version , as advised by others on here. Thanks guys. Awesome software!
  21. Thanks for quick reply. Can the techstream setup check each of the 40 hybrid battery cells for voltage? IE without having to visually inspect them? There are a lot of techstream cables and software for sale. Are they all as good as the reviews? Any bugs? Cheers
  22. @darklore. Are these the prius cells you refer to? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-TOYOTA-PRIUS-HYBRID-PANASONIC-SINGLE-BATTERY-CELL-NIMH-MODULE-2004-ONWARDS-/271883579620?hash=item3f4d8630e4:g:HtkAAOSw7ThUgbgp
  23. MY HV battery on my GS450h is poor. I intend to pull it out and check each cell for corrosion, and trickle charge/replace where necessary. When i disconnect the HV battery, will the petrol engine still run as normal, and will all my electrics work? IE, do some electrics require the use of the HV battery? thanks
  24. Yes the ignition is on. The techstream I bought was 15 quid on Amazon, but like I say, it has good user reviews. The cable lights up when plugged in, but I get the message saying 'problem connecting to VIM. I really need to clear the ABS light, as well as the PCS light and the Orange exclamation mark. I would also like to use the software to check which of my 40 hybrid battery cells are below par. See pic Please help!
