  1. Hi Ian, absolutely, thank you! Ruud, I'd say approx £25, maybe closer to £30. There were a couple of 50/40 mph sections and I didn't take it above 70 due to it raining. I'm not expecting mega MPGs but my Vectra was so poorly I'm used to paying £10 for 40 miles! Regards, Tim
  2. Hi All, So on Sunday I went and picked up the 99 LS I mentioned earlier in this thread. I appear to have faired much better than poor Ruud - the car is in fantastic condition aside from the 2 small rust bubbles, a scrape on the bumper, there also appears to be splitting on the bumper valance? The aerial is permanently up, and the seller claims the memory for the seats does not work, although I've not tested them yet. The light behind the digital clock didn't work, gave it a little tap tap tap and it is now lit! Should the temp readouts also be lit? Aside from these issues (minor I'd say), everything else works great! It was 190 miles home in the rain (M1 -> M6), the best drive I've ever had. Smooth, quiet, relaxing and power when needed. The Mrs had fun with the electric and heated seats, and had enough space for all the cr*p she likes to surround herself with! I think she is just as much in love with it as me, and she hasn't driven it yet! Cost to get home, around £25 :) Best of all, my insurance cost increased by a massive sum of....£13 I'll go over it with a fine toothcomb at the weekend and report back. Even though it's already clean and tidy I will be cleaning out all the hard to reach places, seals, etc. Anyone have a sat nav disc going spare? Or know which part number I should be looking at? Also if anyone has ideas on how best to go about fixing the issues I've outlined above, I'd really appreciate it! Regards, Fred
  3. Just had a reply from the seller, and you are right, there is a logical explanation. I didn't fancy driving all that way (It's quite far) to find out something was wrong. I'll have to make my mind up I guess.
  4. I've decided against purchasing now, as I've found a previous ebay auction for the same car but via a different seller and location. Something doesn't smell right, so the search continues!
  5. A few months back I did a 180 mile round trip in a friends mk3 LS400, (donor car, engine + box now gone into a hi-lux surf). It was absolutely amazing to drive! After my Vectra starting playing up, I knew what choice I had to make... Regards
  6. Thanks cruisermark! Ruud, I'm picking it up on Sunday. There are a few concerns I have with the car, of course the bumper scrape and 50p sized rust bubbles, although I'll get them looked at straight away. My main concern appears to be the missing services from 2010-2013? Maybe an oversight? In all honesty, I hadn't expected the offer to be accepted, therefore I didn't feel too bad entering £1200. Imagine my surprise when I got home from work later that evening and found my offer to have been accepted! I've just given my friend my 51 plate 1.8 vectra for free, on the premise that he gives me the cash from scrap when it goes. Which probably won't be too long, rotten car!
  7. Hello all! New member and soon to be new owner too :) I am a little ashamed to admit that I have done the same as the original poster, bought an LS400 unseen via ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331052324736?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Managed to get it for £1.2k (price was 1.8k, then 1.5k, my offer of 1.2k was accepted). Here's hoping I made the right choice! Just to clarify something I've noticed, do you lovely chaps give mk1, mk2 numbers for each revision? Therefore, am I right in thinking mine is a mk4? 1 First generation (XF10) 1.1 1989–1992 (mk1?) 1.2 1992–1994 (mk2?) 2 Second generation (XF20) 2.1 1994–1997 (mk3?) 2.2 1997–2000 (mk4?) Regards, Fred
