  1. thanks guys. they do need a refurb, they are really scabby. but i need to attend to the air leakage issue first, as refurb will have to wait a couple of weeks.
  2. sheffield isn't too bad for me - i like driving the car 🙂 - whats the place called? what kind of price am i looking at?
  3. hopefully the chaps at Lang's will have enough time to sort all these issues, they are little niggly things that have been annoying me for a while! the alloys do need a proper refurb though, anyone know of anywhere I can get them done? so the list is: remove all tyres, check/file rims, check valves, re-fit, balance alignment, geometry and steering centre position joy!
  4. thanks Dave, i think the tyre is low though, i was wondering what could be the cause if not a slow puncture - could the tyre fitter have done something incorrectly? or could the rim be the problem?
  5. saturday I am taking the car to nigel langs in bolton, hopefully to correct the left pull, balancing, alignment and steering centre position. basically a full geo setup, hopefully. i have noticed recently my headlights flickering ever so slightly, its noticeable when pulled up behind someone in traffic - very annoying - anyone seen this problem? there doesn't appear to be much about it on these forums also my TPMS came on last night, am i right in thinking this happens when PSI drops to 20? I run 35 all round, and this is the second time this has happened. assuming i don't have a slow puncture, what else could cause this problem? car is fitted with pirelli p7 all round, only done in august just bought a vxdiag unit, going to check out the cars setup on techstream when that arrives keep on lexusing!
  6. IIRC, hold info and move from OFF to AUTO 3 times, you'll see the display change.
  7. my '98 ls400 had it, and it was the same gen nav as yours, i'm fairly certain it will have it - lots of interesting stuff to be found inside as well
  8. one thing of note, the ML in my GS450h sounded really poor, like the sub wasn't working - i went into the diagnostic menu (i think hold info and turn lights on and off 3 times), went to audio menu and cleared all codes, magically it sounded great after that. perhaps you could try also?
  9. don't bother testing the audio on FM, the signals are so heavily compressed it is impossible to get something decent sounding out of it. test with CD if possible. the amps can go bad and potentially need a recap. you could perhaps also test the drivers on a different amp (home hifi maybe?) to see if the problem remains?
  10. lovely read - keep the updates coming 🙂
  11. lights attached. to be fair they don't look as bad as i thought, but seeing some pics of how shiny they can be makes me want to get them sorted
  12. next job - headlight restoration. anyone had theirs done professionally? or is it easy to do?
  13. noise level is fine, i've been driving round for a month with a missing silencer, so i can't really compare it to stock. but it's not intrusive. warranty info attached
  14. update on this, just had a full new exhaust from Tony Banks in Leeds - £650 fitted, 2 week waiting list. very happy with it 🙂
  15. so a little update on this car, it passed the 100k mark this weekend 🙂 jobs done: 4 new pirelli cinturato p7 tyres balancing & 4 wheel alignment latest sat nav disc (E1G) jobs need doing: new exhaust section (perhaps longlife?) - hole in rear silencer full service alignment/geometry setup - perhaps a trip to wheels in motion is needed here as the car is pulling slightly to the left number plate - any ideas on this please? i have a private 3x3 style plate to put on this. i don't like the larger rear plate and ideally i don't want to pierce the plates to mount them. anyone else using a number plate frame that fits using the existing mounting holes? and using adhesive tabs to mount the plate inside? any advice welcome on this. also advice welcome on plate suppliers that keep their postcode and other legal requirements small and to a minimum - or even, lexus plates? alloy wheel refurbishment - the wheels have all gone typical lexus - anyone got any ideas where to go in the north west (manchester) to get these refurbished? prices? possible privacy glass/tint for the rear windows chipped windscreen i was led into a false sense of security with the front demister button - i'd have thought this would be similar to Fords with heating elements in the screen, but it just puts the air con on max etc. gutted!
  16. I did end up purchasing the car linked in the thread - i drove 1000k in the first week of ownership and it performed very well. has some jobs to do but i don't use my car in the week (it's garaged) so I will be attending to these as and when. so far i am enjoying owning the GS - my previous LS400 was meaner in terms of size and noise but the GS is much sleeker.
  17. none of them really shine, i've around £5k to play with, perhaps my budget is too low. I almost pulled the trigger on this one: - but found the thread about it before hand and decided against it. that one looked ok and in a good price range, but of course hid those faults. i guess i need to pay a bit more and find one from an enthusiast maybe.
  18. what kind of price should i be looking to pay to get a decent enough gs450h say 2007-2009? seems there aren't any privately owned and looked after examples around at the moment
  19. Hi Steve - wheel nuts arrived OK, thanks! I now have all matching nuts (:)), although, yours sit a little further into the wheel than mine? I'll take a photo next time I'm outside (it's been pouring down for the last 2 days!!) I'll send my details again via PM. It's the metal rod that's snapped, as you predicted. I'm waiting on an outer glass weatherstrip from Lexus, it's on back order until April, so I can't put my door back together as it's leaking quite badly into the door skin. I've got a towel in there at the moment and that's doing the job for the moment.
  20. The car has now passed its MOT, yay! However, Steve, you were right, the height sensor rod has rusted and snapped. Any chance I could take you up on that offer of a new one? Regards,
