  1. cidersteve, Bananarama.... Real name Eric Twinge, 29 Acacia Road, Dandytown... Oh no. wait a minute.....
  2. is this the film you mean? Django Reinhardt - Jazz Hot - Film Short haven't had the chance to look at your link yet, will do so over the weekend. there are a band of american/ukrainian gypsy punks called Gogol Bordello that are good for a watch and a listen. i enjoy seeing their energy and the way they attack their music. give them a half hour, it'll grow on you.
  3. sorry bluesman, you're right, it was stephane grappelli. I bow to your greater wisdom. it was very good though. i was never able to get to grips with jazz, but i do like a bit of blues. especially the songs about his woman done left him, stole his shoes, his soap and ate his last bit of pizza, thus rendering him to a sustained period of bi polar disorders eventually leading to chronic alcohol misuse and the inevitable onset of korsakoff's syndrome. You know the kind song I mean...? :) , they always featured heavily in tom and jerry cartoons. The fred quimby ones, not the later chuck jones type...... Come to think of it there was a fair bit of jazz in those toons also. i remember tom making a zoot suit out of a lampshade and jamming with some of the cool alley cats living rough in his area. You may have your doubts, but i am a responsible adult.
  4. just noticed that i said "stuff" quite a bit in the last post. substitute your own alternatives if you want!!
  5. hey Eek, nah, not been to a gig in many moons. I love really heavy bass and \les Claypool from Primus is one of, if not the best if heard including JPJ, Herbie Flowers et al. The bloke is amazing. Once watched a video of him playing a custom built twelve string bass. the sound was indescribable. Just wonderful. I try to keep my finger on the pulse due to the fact I am an aging hippy and have no desire ever to act my age (51). Only got into ed sharpe after the citroen ad for the c3, i think, anyhoo I tracked down a couple of their albums and was hooked. Very friendly, harmless and good tunes. I like! Never seen the foo's either, just not that big a fan, in your honor is my fave though. still think dave grohl wrote it for \kurt cobain, mibbee? i think bluesman was talking about a guy called django reinhardt, try to find some of his stuff, especially some early stuff he did with yehudi menuhin on violin, sublime stuff. bluesman correct me if i'm wrong! Iam old and old age does not come on its own.
  6. 220d six disc multichanger: Foo Fighters- Greatest Hits The Stone Roses- The Stone Roses Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds- The Murder Ballads Primus- Brown Album Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zero's- Up From Below (it's got the tune "Home" from the Citroen advert) The Polyphonic Spree- Yes! It's True
  7. hello, has anyone tried to port the inlet manifold on a 220d? they aren't too expensive, so i was thinking of buying a used one and playing around with it. Anyone have experience of this?
  8. thank you gentlemen, very much enjoying it. just fitted a tuning box tonight and the difference is astonishing. watch this space for more info. Acceleration is scary fast!! and its as smooth as a babies bum too. (so far :) )
  9. I've just bought and installed a racechip pro2 box on my 220d and the difference is night and day. turbo lag is still there but less apparent and the improvement is something to behold. the cars is much quicker off the mark and is much faster through the gears. Just tried it out on a two mile run, just in case things didn't go to plan....but it was very, very good. sound a wee bitty smoother on tick over, but still sits at 800. may be my imagination, i don't know. On take of it does fly, even though there is still lag, its very much reduced and the acceleration is greatly improved. cant talk about economy for a couple of weeks yet. so, looks like improved torque and power. that's two of the boxes ticked. didn't need to adjust it either as it was supposed to be set up for improved torque, power and economy straight out of the box. very, very pleased with first impressions of this box. It wasn't cheap at 186 gbp, but if it stays the way it is, it will be more than worth the cost. delighted. unfortunately, no access to a r/r, so its just my opinion mind.
  10. i have a bog standard 2007 220d and this feature came as standard. frankie
  11. i've been looking into this myself alan, but not bought a kit yet. would you mind letting me know hoew you got on? cheers frankie
  12. with what i can gather the 220d and the 250 are identical, so any body panels/mods for the 250 will also do the 220d. I also noticed on ebay that there was a roof spoiler and boot spoiler package on offer for 100.00. cant comment on quality or anything like that and sorry, but i didn't take note of the ebay number, my bad. frankie
  13. exdee, your info is brilliant, thanks. I'm also in the market for new wheels too, but i really want to go for 182 in a gunmetal colour, the car is black so this combination would look nice. i'm not too concerned about the difference in ride quality. Do you have a recommendation, or a manufacturer that is preferred? Also, in your opinion, is there any point in buying new alloys with tyres already fitted or would you go for rims then tyres separately. I want to do this right. ta Frankie
  14. Hi all, Well, i've been the proud owner of a late 2007 (december 2007 first reg) for one calendar month. I'm still getting to know the car but so far it has been absolutely fantastic. Not a single issue. I'm also managing 530 miles from a full tank and that lasts me almost exactly two weeks. I do 40 miles daily from dundee to perth for work and sometimes have to travel around perthshire to visit clients. I've found the car to be 100% reliable and a joy to drive. I need to say at this point that I've gone from a 52 plate S Class Merc 320 to the 220d. This was due mainly to getting 20 mpg from the merc, it was just too expensive to run. I've noticed an obvious difference on performance, cabin noise and comfort, but this was to be expected, also moved from an auto box to 6 spd man, but i'm living every moment. Its so good to be in touch with my car again as the merc kinda cosetted you and isolated you from the outside. I love the car and it does look absolutely spectacular. I like cars that are a bit different and that turn heads or have people ask what it was as i go by. The 220d has this ability in spades and i am loving driving again. car is 220d, 60,00 miles, full history and has also been stabled in Brussels as there are service entries from Brussels and Bonn, so I imagine the previous owner may have worked for the EU. All i know is that it has been scrupulously maintained and runs perfectly. I'll post some photos when i get round to it. Thank you all for the invaluable information on the site. cheers Frankie
  15. by the way, i meant to say that I am averaging over 43.0 mpg driving to and from work daily, at least 40 and sometimes twice that, daily and getting 530 miles from 70.00 of fuel.
  16. i've read all through this thread and am aware of the differing points of view. I ordered a box from racechip, the pro2 at a cost of 186.00. if anyone has one, can you give me the settings for the 220d? This one has two adjusters one for bhp and one for torque. Now, i don't have access to a rolling road and although not skint, i won't go to a facility to prove a point. I will try the box at various settings and report back. Everyone has different opinions of these things but as the racechip company offers a money back guarantee...All i have to say is that wifey feels sick, please give me cash back.. who knows? It will either work to my satisfaction or it won't. wait and see. It should be here before fifth of november. I'm not saying this is a definitive test, but i will give you my opinions. the bear
  17. look, clarkson and co are stars of an entertainment programme that is unofficially sponsored by the motor industry. clarkson owns the production company and is essentially the boss. any company that is nice to him, such as bmw, gets a great write up. any company that doesn't offer sponsorship, such as lexus, get panned. its a fun programme and ticks a lot of the boxes for me but as far as cars go, bring back tiff needell, william woolard and that beardy bloke that looked like your hippy uncle.
  18. Hi M1fte, Hope you're still around. If so, can you give me an update on the settings you used for the racechip and I'd be grateful for any dyno readings you may have. I've just bought the racechip pro2 and awaiting arrival, so any info would be gratefully received. Ta Frankie
