  1. OK, no-one seems to know, but I can answer my own question now. Took my mates older map DVD and tried it in my motor and it works just fine. This might be of interest to anyone selling or trading in a car if you still have older satnav disks. YOu can keep the newer disk for your next car or to give or sell to someone else.
  2. Hi, I have a 2009 is250 for which I upgraded the satnav system to the latest maps just over a year ago. All done officially through Lexus. I'm actually now getting rid of the car (trading it in) and a mate has just bought a 2009 isF. His motor has the same 5th generation satnav system as mine, but using older map disks. Question is, I'd like to give him the newer maps from my car, but can I effectively downgrade my own satnav before trading it in by simply inserting my older disks (I did keep them after the upgrade)? Bit frightened to just try it in case I 'brick' the system. Any advice or help?
  3. The suction mount is supplied with the cam. Halfords did do what I would call a pro-fit, i.e. Hard wired behind dashboard and cables hidden. £30 for the fit. The screen blanks after the first minute so there is no distraction. I chose the mount position so I could easily access the cam control buttons. Happy with it.
  4. Halfords install. I particularly wanted the cam to sit just below the mirror as it was difficult to access control buttons or see the screen otherwise!
  5. ended up going for this from Halfords - http://www.nextbase.co.uk/products/iN%252dCAR-CAM™-402%252dG-Professional.html hard-wired in by them for an extra £30. Happy with it so far.
  6. I eventually settled on the NextBase 402g Pro http://www.nextbase.co.uk/products/iN%252dCAR-CAM™-402%252dG-Professional.html £150 at Halfords and they hard-wired it for an extra £30 - nice neat job too. One thing I have found is that it is affecting my own driving. I am less likely to speed, or do anything 'rush of blood' - for the moment at least :) conscious of the cam recording my speed and gps location etc - as well as audio (my swearing isn't as bad as I thought)... all these features can be disabled of course.
  7. 29-33mpg Commuting which is part congested motorway, part heavy Edinburgh. Got 37mpg on a trip up to Thurso.
  8. I'm seriously thinking of having one installed. Has anyone had one pro-fitted to an is250? I don't want to see any cables etc. How much was the fit? Any recommendations on which one to fit? I did find a good website where some guy has reviewed dozens of them but would welcome anyone else's experience.
  9. Dropped my car off the other day at 9am. Advised they only do 2 of these recalls a day given the time it takes. Picked it up at 2.45pm just finished (although they did fit two new front tyres too). Car was gleaming from the Lexus wash, and they put a courtesy £25 of fuel in for the hassle of the recall.
  10. Just had my letter from Lexus confirming my motor is included in the recall. They were notified by DVSA. Apparently I will now be contacted to arrange a day to have the work done.
  11. April 2009 IS250 SE-i We have identified that your Lexus is subject to a voluntary customer service campaign or outstanding safety recall. This can be rectified at no cost, by contacting your local Lexus Centre
  12. Yup, now had a better look through the manual and sure enough, the top 3 or 4 lines (what appears to be heated rear screen elements) is actually the car antenna. who knew!
  13. Sorry for the daft query, but I recently purchased a 2009 is250 and noticed that the demister doesn't clear the very top of the rear screen... I googled a bit and did find some info that the top few lines are not actually part of the demister but are the aerial for the radio. Can someone confirm this is or isn't the case thanks!
  14. Avoid PIAA silicon tech flat blades. Supposedly the best you can buy... Very costly - around £60 for a 20" and a 22" plus the screen cleaner and preparation liquid. The passenger side 20" worked well but the 22" drivers side was a mess of smeared water on the the downstroke. I sent one back as faulty and the replacement did exactly the same thing. Switched to Bosch aerotwins and they work perfectly.
