  1. Japan!! I reckon that would be the only way.
  2. Yup, they can be programmed. Not synchronised with anyhing else in the car, literally just plugging in a computer and changing it. I don't believe anyone has had it done outside of Japan though, so you may be lucky to find somewhere to do it. There are ususally adverts around in car mags that offer to 'adjust' your mileage. You could try them to start with.
  3. That is Rob Haydens car - He lives in Australia!! OK, thats pretty obvious, but us in the UK think that driving a couple of hundred miles is a long way, but they do a LOT of distance driving! I don't know how long he has had it, but it must be a while. He has a couple more Soarers aswell and needs to cut down, so he is making the others his project cars - supercharged active Soarer I believe!! He is a major expert on Soarer's and that car is pretty much perfect by all accounts.
  4. Ah, so wouldn't be an improvement really. I thought it would basically give a really strong airflow when activated, but I don't know a lot about the tuning side of things, so I was just thinking out loud! I was thinking about nitrous today actually, its something to think about, but I don't think I would use it enough to be worth it. Just 1 or 2 runs up the strip a year. It would be cool but... Cheers for the answers:-)
  5. I did mean with a small bottle attached to it :P I can't see any reason why it can't be done, just depends if the fitters are willing to do it on its own. Or would it just not be worth it?
  6. Sorry, I can't e-mail! Must have to be a paid-up member (should do it really!). Probably better if I meet you in Stortford...warm her up a bit first!
  7. Is there any reason why you can't use just that air amplifier on its own to give really good airflow. Something my car really needs!
  8. Got to say this......Aristo Vertex!!! If I wanted a performance car, it would have to be that. I was thinking about it today actually, but the Soarer's just too good to let go of:) Seriously thinking of importing a '97 4Ltr - the latest ones they did:)
  9. If you work shifts and are off during the today, I am off work and not doing a lot! Other than that, I am off next Tuesday I think, so that would be a good day to meet.
  10. Can't you delete a post thats was posted by accident?
  11. What do you mean by small village in the first post? Little Hallingbury? If so, ITS MINE!!
  12. Hi Boeing, Glad to hear you are looking for such a lovely car:) Basically, they were never sold anywhere apart from Japan (a similar, but different version was sold in America), so all Soarer's are imports - this brings the price down quite a lot. Particularly because of the way things work in Japan with used cars. Also, luxury cars do depreciate a lot anyway. Soarer's are fantastic cars! Comfort, speed, toys, individuality....its HAS got it all! BUT....you do either need to find a good one or buy a cheap one and be prepared to spend money on sorting it. It sounds like you have found quite a nice one! Unless it comes with full history and you can see how its been looked after, you really should do a few bits of maintenance when you get it - Oil+filter, autobox oil+filter, cambelt, and possibly power steering fluid, brake fluid, and suspension bushes to help get the handling back to original (not so much of an issue on a later, low milage one). Where abouts are you? And where's the car? If you are my side of London, I would be happy to take you out in mine. Its not quite sorted properly yet, but still beautiful to drive in. Its also a good idea to take someone with you who knows Soarer's to look at any cars, as there are a few common problems to look for. Again, I would be happy to do this if I can get some time. Good luck! Carl
  13. Didn't you read the reply to that the other day? :P Apparently its a safety feature, so if someone (a kid) has their head shut in it, it will stop halfway before decapitating!!!
  14. Really? What isn't working? I haven't GOT half of it, but what I have works:)
  15. Wait till you get your V8 then:) My car is lovely on fast roads but is a bit hard on bumpy back roads - needs a bit of sorting though...I think I need a steering rack......been quoted £1200!!!!!!! just for the part! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is something else. Also need wheel alignment once that is sorted, then it will be luuuurvly:)
  16. Yep, 96/97ish would make it a mk3 :P :D Uses the 2JZGE
  17. I think you they mean they had them in Japan......:P Only later models though - 96/97ish on. Saying that though.....the SC300 was only available in USA, the Soarer 3L was available in Japan! You have to get finniky with these cars!
  18. Turbos? :P Not really into tuning myself, so I can't tell you much more (until I can afford a supercharger!). I don't think ther is much else really. You can't really do turbos easily either....they don't fit very well! Have a look here.....if yu want to really get into it....http://www.lextreme.com/
  19. Hehee, what a laugh :P Have you seen these in the states? The toys we got on our cars: In dash screen with touchscreen control of aircon/stereo/TV/satnav/trip info/fuel consumption/calendar/memo's/upgrade function trough CD changer in boot/diagnostics 3D digital dash with auto dimming Auto lights LCD dimming rearview mirror Rain dispensing heated electric mirrors Air suspension with height control/sport setting(stiffens sus) Revesing camera with parking sensors Air purifier And does the LS400 not use the 1UZFE? I was under the impression it did! It is a lovely car still (the SC400), and more designed for USA tastes but it certainly not as well equipped as the Soarer!
  20. I thought I had already, but as I spent ages trying usernames/passwords, I assume I actually hadn't!! Chipping is a big problem in the V8 because the ECU contols the gearbox (OK don't get smug about your manual!) aswell. AFAIK the only real option at the moment is Harry Lemmens' ECU, which he has completely reprogrammed (the original ECU with a small piggyback). It can be set to standard mode, or upgraded mode, with new mapping and higher rev limit (8000). It will also be upgradeable, so eventually you could hook it up to the net and downlaod his new maps! Basically you have to send yours off to him and he will fit the new module and send it back. I think it cost around a grand + insured del to AUS and back!
  21. OK, this thread is old, but lets clear some things up! In Japan, the Toyota Soarer was sold as 2.5TT, 4.0V8 and 3.0. In America, the more basic versions were sold as the SC400 (4.0V8) and SC300 (3.0). The 2.5TT was never sold in America. A lot of people (most) badge their Jap Soarers as Lexus, becuase it is more classy:) Most say Lexus Soarer, but some go the whole hog and call it the 'proper' Lexus name (SC300/SC400). I have never seen it, but as a 2.5TT would have been called a SC250 if it was ever released in USA or UK, some people would badge it Lexus SC250. The TT did come with a rare option of the screen, which I assume you can hook up a DVD to aux ports (not sure if it has any). The best bet is buy one from USA or Canada, which are NTSC and most are multi region, so will play our DVDs aswell.
  22. The V8 is actually faster off the line than the TT (while the turbos spool up), but only to around 20MPH probably. Then the TT definately has it, up to around 80MPH, where the V8 is pretty equal onwards. You can probably get 20Bhp ish from decent exhaust/intake mods. First thing is get rid of the standard rubbish intake!
