Hold the remote to your head, it extends the range. :)

Was it reliable? Did you have any major expense?
One issue, front wishbones replaced under warranty due to bushes wearing. Not another single problem.
I was going to keep it as well as the Lexus, but someone else had other ideas.

I keep on eye on my old Alfa 159, '57 plate I had for six years.
It has never failed a test, only had one advisory and that was during my ownership
"Couldn't check seat belt due to child seat installed"

The “Vehicle Smart” app is a better option IMO.
Its gives you the option of having the families cars in a “garage “ for quick reference, and colour codes the mot status.

Part of the ownership "experience" of classic/rare bikes and cars is that some things are a challenge.
A lot of owners enjoy this aspect; the search for the holy grail, the handing over of the cash for a shiny object, posting a photo on the forum to show you have achieved the impossible.
There isn't much joy walking into Halfords for a wiper blade is there?
Depends who works on the counter. ;)

Welland, do you understand what a hybrid system is and how it works? Because the stop start system on a normal car has nothing to do with how a hybrid car works.

I thought snow mode just altered the torque output. It dulls the throttle response.
-
Cheers Beamish, I’ve heard moving the butterfly flap is a no no.
I’ve got cleaner for the MAF, the carb cleaner is for the throttle body.

I had this issue on a Merc C220 CDI a few years back - turned out it was the fuel in the end. It didn't like Sainsbury's diesel and would intermittently rev at idle - solved after using BP standard diesel
I’ve run the car right down to the dregs several times in a row recently. That people say doesn’t do the car any favours, but I do use branded fuel most of the time.
All suggestions still appreciated, just bought some carb cleaner from Toolstation, cheap as chips.

I think its the injectors on the diesel that need coding to the diesel models - pretty sure I have seen members having to do this on the forum
Recalibrated......some throttle bodies have to go through a calibration procedure to get them to recognise open and close throttle. I wondered if you remove the 250's you have to follow that procedure?

I think that's just the diesel model ??
What’s just the diesel model?

Don’t have a code reader. The revs surging is getting more noticeable.
I’m going to check the induction from the air cleaner to the throttle body sometime next week, weather permitting, gone are the days when I could get under the bonnet any weather.
I’m favouring a cleaning of the throttle body to start with.
I’ve just watched a video of a man changing the plugs on an IS 250 and clean the throttle body by taking it off. I was under the impression that they had to be recalibrated once disturbed. Anyone know differently, can they be removed, cleaned and replaced without issue?

You might have the carbon build up issue associated with direct injection: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/484055-lexus-is250-4gr-fse-engine-carbon-build-up-merged-threads.html

Cheers Comedian, another issue I’m aware of, a dose of some toxic chemicals may help, I’ll look into it.

My guess is the maf sensor could be dirty. Apparently these are self cleaning but a quick spray with electrical cleaner can work wonders.
Cheers Rebecca, it’s something I will address when I get to work on the induction system.

I can understand it feeling "lumpy" at startup during the cold weather due to the engine adjusting to the cold temperature but it should soon go when the engine has warmed up, and you say the revs jump when coming to a stop at a junction. Does it do this all of the time or now and then - does it feel like its doing this when driving the car?
Could be the engine is hunting - could be a few things .... check the air filter - TPS could be at fault if severe ... battery? ... even a bad batch of fuel if happening during driving
Newbie, the car soon idles smoothly after a minute or two.
The revs jumping is also intermittent and yes it does sometimes do it while driving along.
The throttle body is on my list while checking the air intake.

My IS 250 automatic, has in the past few weeks, had an intermittent lumpy idle problem when starting from cold, my wife even noted it sounded funny when she approached the car as we were leaving the house.
Also when coming to a halt just as the car stops the tachometer jumps from about 800 up to 1500 and straight back down again.
I have a few ideas that I will investigate when I've done with the painting and decorating.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

Surprisingly, cyclists are allowed to drive wrong way if it is one way street. They are completely uncontrolled menace in London, dangerous for the pedestrians and for themselves. Completely not rules applies to them and if any rule actually applies it is not enforced. Hopefully, the new amendment going to come in force for them to wear "high-wiz", but even then it is not exactly clear who will enforce it. I am fine with people riding on the roads, but then they must adhere to to rules and their gear should be somehow regulated..
I was hit once in the back when trying to cross the one way street - I came to pedestrian crossing and it was red, but is was late evening and not many cars, so I looked if there are any cars only one way.... because hey that is one way street, stepped into the road and was hit by cyclists to the back... Luckily not injuries. The cyclist didn't even stop and said something like "look where you going"... I was kind of shocked so didn't realised what to do before it was too late (cyclist disappeared in the dark). Few minutes later I was furious, would have punch all of the c*** of of him....
Few month ago was during morning peak was hit by cyclist again crossing the massive tower bridge crossroad (hate design of it) on pedestrian crossing and walking trough the green. Cyclist tried to jump red lights between the trucks and obviously had not clue what is around him. Was riding sort of track bike, with something which looked like a brakes, but on those skinny tires there was no way he could stop it... again no injuries, but no apologies either.
Finally, few weeks ago nearly run over one on roundabout in the evening. It was like 8 PM, but it is getting very dark already and cyclist was same as in @dutchie01situation, completely black, without any lights, black bike, black backpack... and clearly without any brains.. There are street light around outside of the 3 lanes roundabout, but he was crossing it straight troughs the middle, would he have crossed it by the edge maybe street lights would have illuminated him a bit, but now he was literally like ghost coming out of the dark. Few seconds later and I would have run him over, but cut past him maybe 2 meters in front. No way I could have seen him and just realised when he almost ride into my door.
@Verbout- I believe that definition it is what they call "plain language" explanation, not necessary legally correct. But it suited my situation better than "road accident", so I used the report which for me seems to be more appropriate. Furthermore, from my experience "hit and run" are no longer considered serious incidents and Police are not interested investigating them, so maybe this way I gets best chance of police attention.
I can assure you Linas when I opine on this forum regarding law it’s correct, I did 30 years as a Police Officer and have several legal qualifications. :)

Hmm, I'd obviously imbibed slightly too much alcohol last night as I've just re-read my post and I missed out the important bit!
What I meant to say was that, due to the modern practice of shrinking credits to run trailers for upcoming shows, they have become completely unreadable.
I thought that’s what you meant. ;)

It looks like a Breitling. From their Chronoliner range. Just a guess from the styling.

I haven’t had a private car parking ticket for years but a sob story email usually gets it cancelled.
“My elderly mother was late from her appointment at *******, she had a dizzy spell while we walked to the car.....I’m sure if you check the cctv you see us in the car park waiting for her to settle.”

Just to note as well:
I was reported as type of Criminal damage or Arson (Report a crime), not as part of road traffic accident (Report a road traffic incident):
Clearly rider slowed down and deliberately hit the mirror causing damage, which counts under intentional and malicious, rather than accidental and traffic related like "hit and run".
That’s not the definition of criminal damage, the word malicious doesn’t come into it.
See Criminal Damage Act 1971. As commonly used as the Theft Act 1968, Public Order Act 1986. Bread and butter Policing.

Unfortunately that is criminal damage - very frustrating but he will get his just desserts! Only you will not be there to see it. Check the MOT history of the plate in a few months to find out if it is still on the road.
I think it would be a little more than criminal damage......it would be a right-off....
