  1. It's not loose, but may be out of position. I'm going to take it off at the weekend and have a good look.
  2. The garage checked it again today , it is defiantly rubbing, it sounds like the bumper is being dragged along the road.
  3. My wife's taken the car back to the garage, they couldn't replicate the noise , but they think it must be the liner, in the middle pic you can see one of the louvres broken and sticking out slightly , this may be catching in reverse, they also said the liner doesn't feel as secure as the other side, so I will check at the weekend. The heat gun sound the easy option just moving it back away from the wheel.
  4. 225/40/19 standard? A few mm's make a difference, it just rubs. As I said it's not just me who has this issue.
  5. The thing is I bought the car with worn tyres , so it may just be a few mm that makes the difference. I will have a good look at it at the weekend.
  6. It's just been trough an mot so don't think there will be a suspension failure as it's part of the test. As I said it seems a common issue with Lexus's, could just be a warped wheel arch liner.
  7. It's rubbing on the middle of the tyre on the front inside of the wheel arch liner (the second pic). If you google the problem is is quit common with Lexus's but usually lowerd ones, only reversing and on the drivers side. The wheel has a 2" gap to where it is touching, so either the wheel is moving or the whole suspension is dropping when reversing.
  8. Hi all , just had some new 2 new 225/40/19 tyres fitted and the drivers front side rubs when reversing ? I don't think is been lowered ? Any one else had this issue.
  9. a summer tyre will loose something like 50% if its grip below 7 degC.
  10. They were originals, they do a lot of aftermarket ones, and as you said people just throw them away..
  11. From my first day of ownership in Galway, then drove home to york :)
  12. I would have thought 85dBA would be a limit as above this you are supposed to wear hearing protection if you are working next to noisy equipement? I did start to modify a spare exhaust, but have stopped , as i now think I like the stock exhaust , especially after a 12 hour drive from john o'groats to York Via fort william , i was in sport mode for at lease 4 hours of the drive :) if you want noise the 2nd stage induction roar is spot on.
  13. When I sold my VXR8 , eBay had much more response but the only 2 genuine buyers were from my pistonheads advert. Everyone on eBay wants a cheap bargin or are time wasters in my experience. Autotrader is good but very expensive.
  14. 51, electrical engineer/contractor/director. Hate 4 cylinder engines. Always liked Lexus.
  15. I find the wind makes the whole car drift , no sensation throught the steering wheel It does tend to follow the camber but other than that it's very solid and smooth. It's my first experience of electric steering.
  16. with regard to the rattle from the door pillar, I fixed it inadvertently when cleaning the car with silicone dash cleaner , i spray the rubber door seals to stop them from drying out, and .. No more rattle.
  17. I was surprised to find that my ISF is sensitive to cross winds,
  18. Now after a few weeks of driving I am finding the high speed handling amazing, the VXR8 was a bit twitchy at high speed, the ISF gives you confidence to take corners fast and safely, now I understand why the suspension is the way it is, so I have no plans to interfere with the set up. maybe just tweek just the exhaust.
  19. That is exactly what I am planning to do. Thanks for the pics.
  20. Just got a back section from Ian, the back box has very little in it just looks like one pipe in and to output perforated tubes, will have to cut it up to have a better look. will probably try to run a perforated tube from the input to the two outputs and see what ti sounds like, but may end up with two new straight through back boxes.
  21. I have been using "waze" on my iphone its better than tomtom and free! you should try it, even can has live police camera vans and car locations etc if people submit the positions.
  22. I don't think there would be much in it, unless the VXR8 was a manual then it can be difficult to change gear quickly, i think the ISF would pick up after 100mph, but on a damp road the LSD in the VXR8 might give the starting edge, but there's only one way to find out!!
