  1. 3400 miles in now in just over a month and the mpg continues to be around 37.5 despite the cold snap - tbh I've been using cheap super the last couple of fill ups and have been over 38 on one of the tanks despite some heavy motorway miles.....
  2. I have changed the setting now to work on P anyway but what I meant to say, which may have not come over very well, was that it sporadically opened all the doors when opening the drivers door and sometimes didnt leading to the frustration.....
  3. Setting shows driver door unlock but it sometimes works and other times doesn't - set up unlock on shift to P so that should resolve that issue....
  4. Found another annoying little thing that happens sometimes - stop, turn off, open drivers door and get out and go to get something off the back seat and the back door is still locked - much swearing follows as go back to drivers door to press release button and also bent back finger nails on handle! Grrrrrrr....
  5. Average is 37.4 now after 2668miles - lower average last fill up of 36.2 as temp has dropped and also about 60% of the tank was done on motorway - seem to struggle to get much above 36 when on motorway unless in one of the interminable 50mph sections.....
  6. That seems contrary to perceived wisdom - are you going from the computer or a true tank to tank reading done the old fashioned way?
  7. Over 2000 miles in and still enjoying life in the NX with mpg averaging out at 37 which looks like what a lot of you guys seem to get. One major niggle still is the info system - for instance, if you have had the mpg bar graph going on the centre screen and then go on the phone, it doesn't revert back to that screen when you finish the call and exit phone - unless I'm missing pushing the right buttons - but then I'm accused of that by the good lady so nothing new there then......however I do like the way the digital radio fades out when losing the reception rather than the chopping sound you get with most systems in other cars.
  8. Tbh - I test drove the NX back to back with my Evoque and thought that it would be a bag of nails in comparison but was surprised at how quiet the Evoque was once I got back in it - it had the old 2.2 rather than the new ingenium 2.0 which is supposed to be really smooth - I did have a Disco sport as a loan car and the difference between the same 2.2 engines was amazing - the disco rattled like fook and you would have put it at a 20 year old diesel!
  9. Never had any major issues with rattles until about the last 3 months when the roof lining on the passenger side developed a creak - I had the massive glass roof - it was frustrating but nothing else joined in with it.....
  10. Jaguar F pace is a re-bodied Evoque - that's not saying it's bad as my Evoque was awesome and tbh was a lot more secure throwing around a set of tight bends than the NX - I could give a Fiesta, what is probably the best handling hatch you can get, a good run for its money in it but I wouldn't begin to do that in the NX as it is not as connected to the road in the same way. Interior wise, it's all a matter of personal preference - the Jaguar is nice in a slightly old school smooth way, like the Evoque, whereas the NX is angular and a bit more radical.....
  11. Latest fil up on "standard" supermarket fuel dropped it down to 35mpg - I'll stick with slightly more expensive branded fuels or cheap super at supermarkets in future.......
  12. Again, I don't have any issues overtaking - like all aspects of driving, a little foresight helps, especially in the NX, but I find it has plenty of poke, in Normal and Sport certainly, provided you bury the accelerator past the pseudo kick down point - then it flies!
  13. Over 1400 miles into ownership now and the experience gets better and better as I learn to drive using the hybrid system effectively - I have read many reviews saying that the 300h is no good in hilly areas - well I don't know what they have been driving but I don't seem to have any issues with mine, especially in Sport setting. I regularly travel the B4364 between Ludlow and Bridgnorth and, if any one else knows it, it's quite a rise and fall over the Clee hills and let's put it this way I went from 55 to 80 overtaking a Focus this morning before I had chance to say " Feck me" on one of the steepest bits! Next fill up beckons which I feel will not be as kind as the last ones mainly down to the type of journeys I have been doing and also standard supermarket petrol which I wouldn't normally bother with in any of my cars but they had no super and was running on fumes.......
  14. If I'm not mistaken - as all engines work on a closed loop principal that leans or riches up the mixture according to load and driving style, I'm sure they will also adjust to different RON fuels too and it maybe that they can run leaner as a result on higher octane fuel and thereby show some increase in mpg?
  15. So 1215 miles in and mpg so far has been 34.4,40.5,39.1 and 38.1 - avg 37.9 This has been across a wide range of journey types, a fair amount of Motorway and A road jaunts and some town work.
  16. If you search through the settings you can find a slider for transmission volume for the phone - can't just recall if that's in telephone or in settings on the screen - may be set to low...
  17. Fair point Steve - I think I can say that, as a musician, and a serious hifi nut, cars are not the most ideal environments for listening to music - too much background noise and road rumble to give that nth degree of musical satisfaction - whilst a really good car system can sound pretty amazing, unless you're sat still, the overall experience will be far less involving than even a moderately inexpensive hifi system in a well damped room. If I was spending £1K extra on a sound system, I'd rather be paying that for something in my house that would sound pretty awesome rather than a compromise, and, to be honest, a rideculous mark up on a few speakers and a smart amplifier. But its chaque a son gout as they say in France.....
  18. TBH - the standard radio in my SE sounds pretty good - ok it might not have the soundstage enhancement that you get with the ML but it does the job on most sources...
  19. It's a Lex lease car so not local - it came from Lexus Bradford but I will use Lexus Stoke when it needs servicing.
  20. Well a week has gone by and so have 1000 miles of varied driving - from Motorway to fast A and B roads - and the experience is very favorable - the comfort still amazes both in the quality of the seats (which I had read was exemplary and truly lives up to the reviews) and the supreme serenity of the actual drive. It is definitely a different drive from the RR - that had masses of torque that would pull up tree stumps and made overtaking effortless, but driven in Sport and with a bit of forward planning, the NX surprises a lot of other drivers at how fast it gets away. Up to about 50mph its also great at the traffic light GP but over that the noise of the engine at full chat tends to encourage a more sedate right foot! MPG, for those anal like me, has got better, with the last two fill ups, with Super, have shown 40.5 and 39.1 - so I feel a little happier about that too... One thing that I have bought that should be a standard feature is sill protector film as you do catch your shoes on the wide sills that have already shown some marks - hopefully will T-Cut out before I fit it next week.... Happy Days!
  21. Second fill up, after a tank full of super yielded 40mpg - I'm not sure it was totally full but was at the first cut off so maybe a little under filled but seems that super may work better - filled with some more cheap super from Tesco and will confirm results next time around. Tbh - I have been trying to drive like a saint so a longer period of monitoring will only prove this.....
  22. Hi All - never having owned, or really driven, a Lexus in anger, I decided to take the plunge and order an NX300h SE for my next company car back in July for arrival on the 11th December. This was to replace a Range Rover Evoque ed4, which, contrary to a lot of naysayers, was an exemplary drive and ownership experience, had virtually no issues throughout its 3 year, 101,000 mile tenure and returned a genuine 43mpg over the period - lets say the NX has an awful lot to live up to! Initial impressions over the first 400 miles are very favourable from a comfort and performance perspective although fuel economy is a little low so far but I guess will improve as the engine loosens up. The serenity both under battery and engine power is something to be experienced and slipping along on the motorway at 70 with only the rustle of wind noise and tyre hum is very welcome after an oil burner. The seats, whilst cloth, are very comfortable and a whole lot softer than the leather in the RR - to be honest the other half prefers cloth to leather and I must admit it can be bloody cold in winter before the seat warmers kick in and sticky hot in summer. Some downsides are that the radio setup is truly frustrating with little information in the manual and even the multi page online version is not very explicit, the telephone is poor in comparison to the RR touch screen with absence of shortcuts and no apparent link to voicemail without having to set up as a contact in your phone book and the audio quality of calls seems poor and tinny in comparison again to the RR. I am learning the accelerate and coast method to maximise battery useage on A and B roads and seems to improve economy on my second tankful and as I driver around 700 miles a week, I will update as things progress. All my colleagues were sceptical of the colour to start - Mesa Red - but once seen in the flesh, have all expressed approval for it as it seems to change from maroon when cloudy to bright red in full sun - not that there has been an awful lot of that just at the moment. It has proved itself invaluable as a tow car within 24 hours of owning as rescued a mud stuck car from a field with the aid of a tow rope with the rear traction motor giving assistance without masses of wheel spinning. More to follow as the miles increase.....
  23. Actual brim to brim mpg over the first 311 miles was 34.4 with perhaps 160 of those on the M6 at 70mph - hopefully will improve - managed to get some super unleaded for only £1.04 so filled with that and the latest indications have been around 38.....anybody else see better results on super? Our Swift Sport definitely gets better mpg although it is designed to run on 95 RON too and I have heard elsewhere that Japanese cars run better on the expensive green pump.
  24. Whilst I have only had my nx300 for 48 hours, I have found it will travel at up to 50mph on ev, granted that it was slightly downhill but I did about 2 miles at lower speed on purely battery power - new batteries perhaps? BTW this was all in Eco mode......
  25. Just taken delivery of my first Lexus - a NX300h SE - have to say first impression is very favourable and have done 250 miles in the last 24 hours taking in a 120 mile A & B road trip and then a 140 mile motorway run - so far mpg looks around 35/36 but on a tight engine I don't think that's too shabby.
