  1. Thanks for all the input chaps. The one on sale in my local garage is the one in the 1st pic not the one in the 2nd pic which many of us remember. Based on the feedback above, I won't be adding it to my Lexus any time soon but if I ever buy another classic who knows? 🤣
  2. Also makes sense not to have anything drawing power if you do the stationary charge
  3. We haven't opened a decent can of worms for a few days so here goes.. Does anyone use Redex or any other additive in their 300h? Are there any definite advantages/disadvantages that you have personally noticed? I've looked on the Internet but am more interested in personal experiences from Lexus owners rather than 3rd party opinions or hearsay. Despite my 'can of worms' statement above, I am genuinely interested. I used Redex in my MGA and Triumph Stag but that was in another lifetime.
  4. Had lots of stone chips and dings on the chin trim, that silver painted trim at the base of the grille. Masked off and a light rub down but used isopropyl degreaser and the wrong primer, both schoolboy errors so started again. Another rub down, wash and plastic primer then a few coats of silver paint (left over from Etech wheel refurb kit) and it's looking much better. 2-3 coats of clear lacquer going on later today. I have got the kit to vinyl wrap it but too impatient to wait for a warmer, dryer day!
  5. I've got an air compressor which does the job but like @Vlady it's probably best not to get the water in there in the first place. I might strip mine down and have a look when I'm feeling brave! 😊
  6. You'll have to take my word for it Ken. She actually withdrew 5 quid extra but I trousered that as a consultancy fee 🙂
  7. No idea Steve, I left them to it and they knocked when it was done. I know there's a good video on YouTube where the guy stuffs playing cards between the tyre and the rim to act as a barrier, looks like a neat trick!
  8. All done! Sweet Alloys, a Southampton based mobile service came out this morning. Happy with the result and price. Even better that my wife felt guilty and handed over the cash, a rare occurrence in itself!
  9. I washed the car last week using the low pressure garden hose. No repeat of the runs! Today, back to the jet washer and the return of the runs. Guess that tells its own story, bucket and sponge only on the front doors from now on!
  10. Whilst waiting for your new battery it's worth knowing (if you don't already) that your car doesn't need a big battery to jump start from. I discovered that my car starts just fine when jumped from my 12v lead acid golf cart battery. It just needs enough power to wake everything up, no cranking amps needed.
