  1. Dave

If when you sell the car you want to put the old plate back on and keep the new one for your new car you need to tell the DVLA now and they will keep the old plate for you.

:excl: people get a bit worried if they HPI a car and it's have a few different plate on it

    Ade :D

  2. there is talk of them bring it down to 6 month it's not just the insurance paying out they are waiting to see if it gets recovered when it is recovered if it's a writeoff you can transfer the plate back but if it's repairable the dvla transfer it to them and then to you and if you have delt with the goverment you will know why it will take a year speedy they are not unless there sending you a fine

    Ade :D

  3. if you get the car back you can transfer the plate off if you have told the insurance comp that you wish to retain it

other than that if the car is not recovered after 12 months you can apply to dvla for the number on a reten\certif

if it worked the other way peeps that have paid £20K for a plate would loose them and the dvla would resell then now that would p :tsktsk: s peeps off

    Ade :D

  4. Just throwing these out there, £250 each

    B17 GAY

    B16 FAG

Both available from the dvla, lol

Seriously tho I been looking for private plates so that my new V-reg IS200 Sport looks deceptivly new :)

Any idea if you can still get oddities like 9999 XX or XXX 9X (where X is a letter and 9 is a number) or 9999 XXX?

Plates like that are still for sale XX 1 is up for £105K & 58 XX is up for £11.5K

    LS 9999 is for £3750 or you could have 2 XX & XX2 @ £87.5K the pair

non year plates a an excellent investment

  5. first one was a A40 then an A60 then Cresta's and Viscounts then onward and upward this should bring a smile to some faces with good memories  :P

Shorty how old are you ffs? I've never even heard of those cars - aren't the first two road numbers?

Mine was a 1978 Mini 850 in orange (yuck)

OK :driving: “Austin A40” and “Austin Cambridge A60” for there time good cars, (why don’t modern cars have starting handles :winky: )

Cresta’s Are Vauxhall’s and the Viscount was the top of the range Cresta 3.3 straight six with 2 speed powerglide box a comfortable cruiser that used less juice than the lex
