  1. Most of my seats need to be recoloured anyway especially the driver seat. I understand the risk but they were really filthy and I'd tried cleaning with leather cleaner already. I'm not advocating anyone try this but I wanted to share my results.
  2. Soft scrub is a similar product to cif. That's what I had in the house. I used a soft toothbrush as well.
  3. The photo I posted has the front section done and the side is not done. You can see its much darker. I'll see if I can find the video
  4. Hi all. Just thought I'd share my experience with cleaning the cashmere leather in the LS400 MKIV . I've tried a couple of different leather cleaners, neither of which really shifted the grime. I saw a video on YouTube of a guy using cif cleaner to really clean them. Well, I've tried it and i am amazed with the difference. Once wiped off and given a condition the leather is clean and supple. No damage and worked a treat. Here's a before and after. I had no idea quite how dirty they were.
  5. Most definitely. It's been an enormous source of info and advice. I'd be lost without it!
  6. Hello all. Just thought I'd wrap this up. I took the radio out this afternoon and it was indeed just an unplugged aerial plug! I've now plugged in the electric aerial and now this goes up and down and I have perfect radio reception :-) nice cheap fix. Cost me 20 minutes!
  7. I agree. I saw quite a few before I bought this one and most needed major body work or cambelt or suspension work. Mine was tidy bodywork and interior. No mechanical issues, cambelt done 10k miles ago and low miles. The screen doesn't leak so I thought it's something to sort but not a deal breaker for me. At the end if the day its 19 years old so I'm not expecting perfection. I'm working on that though
  8. Brave or stupid. Not sure. It's the only real issue with it and a saw lots with many more issue for more money. All the important stuff has been done
  9. That is truly shocking! I imagine it would need "a bit of work" for an mot!
  10. Lexus stoke just called me back and quoted £90 for the part and fitting of the top seal. I'll takeep it in to be sure but that's a bargain if true!
  11. You can easily find discount codes for opie oils as well. I got an extra 10% off my order.
  12. No that didn't include the cam belt. Just oils and filters plus new spark plugs. Diff oil. Plus checks on some things.
  13. Just out of interest really I gave lexus a call today for a price on a service. They recommended the 100k mile service. Labour plus parts.... £1100 That's more than I paid for the car! £275 just for the spark plugs. I got them from opie oils for £55. I knew they charged a premium but that's crazy. Never been more glad I can do my own service work. :-)
  14. OK. So thanks to a helpful and pleasent meeting with lockeyboy I know I only need the top seal replacement and chrome strip as the sides are fine. Great to meet a fellow enthusiastic owner of these fantastic cars!
  15. Thanks ambermarine that's really great info. Not a cheap job then! So a trip to lexis may be on the table then.
  16. Hi malc. Yes it looks dreadful! No that was just the price to remove and refit. Excluding any seals needed. Are the side strips rubber that goes in the channels at the side or the metal channels themselves?
  17. Hi all. I'm very happy with my ls400 but it's not perfect. One of the main issues is that it's had a new screen at some point and it was fitting by an ape. It's got a bodged top seal and is missing the chrome strip. It's also got some sort of sealant at the corners where the rubber seal is missing! It doesn't leak at the moment but it looks rubbish and makes a lot of wind noise at motor way speeds. I feel it rather let's the car down. I'm not sure what they are supposed to have and am struggling to find pictures online. Any advice on where to get genuine seals and what's missing would be good. I had a quote of £185 to refit the screen plus parts. Thanks in advance. Matt
  18. I thought as much. Even buying genuine fluid is cheaper than a broken gearbox.
  19. Hi all, I've been looking at changin the ATF on the LS400. It's a dark red colour and I don't think it's been done in a while. I've seen this on ebayLook at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302160783661 it claims to be oem spec. It's a lot cheaper than genuine Toyota fluid. Any thoughts?
