Hmmm? I suspect it's light reflecting from the wife's make up mirror she lost ages ago 🤣
That’s a relief to know, thanks Phil! Brain intact then 🤣

Until you take them off I guess.
They're so noisy though instead!
Agreed. Probably similar to replacing the OE Yokohamas with Goodyear’s on my NX.

Grades with 18" wheels.
I don't really understand why there is a difference; 17" with goo and 18" with runflats. I can only think that Lexus load up the more expensive 18" models with more expensive runflats - personally I'd want 18" with goo.
Great thanks 👍
I only ask because this means the loaner I had definitely had runflats. The ride seemed absolutely fine and I’d therefore be perfectly happy with a UX with runflats.

Which UX models come with runflats please? Is it all or is it wheel size dependent?

I'm afraid Lexus approved has meant nothing for many years. One of the reasons I joined this forum in 2007 was the appalling service I received from Lexus Hedge End . Its the reason I blather on about a Lexus approved service history meaning absolutely nothing. In my case my service history was forged, previous accident damage denied, them telling me the notorious flywheel issue was a 'characteristic' of the car....
I treat all main dealers, no matter what make, as potential sharks. Its just a shame not much has changed and we still read stories like this.
Luckily I’ve had decent service and support from all the dealerships I’ve dealt with. Certainly looks like you had a very poor experience. I’d happily go down the independent route if I could find a decent one close by. I’ve previously used a decent local BMW specialist close by when owning BMWs.

I’ve been flip-flopping between Churchill, Admiral and Direct Line for the last 7 years or so. I normally manage to get a decent renewal from one of these. I always prefer to stick with a known entity because I want the cover to be worth something when I really need it. I’m not keen on some of the windscreen replacement criteria with insurance now and this will inform my future insurance decisions. I want to be able to have a genuine Lexus screen fitted and from somewhere I trust and not a pattern part from Autoglass etc. A personal choice based on recent experience.

I’ve posted elsewhere. I’ve recently read a report that e10 fuel will cause an approximate 1% reduction in engine performance. I doubt anyone would notice this. Europe has been using e10 fuel for quite a while.

Indeed, thanks for updating us on outcome... but I agree with you. Lexus GB probably need to set clearer guidelines for dealerships - at the moment it seems like it is bit of lottery. I consider "Lexus Approved" should actually mean something. Remind me of another member who got GS fitted with some no name ditchfinders and was told by dealer they see no issue fitting sub-standard tyres as long as they are road legal.
Again seems like buying used car from Lexus is no different than buying from any other dealer, not better and not worse, just need to be careful and don't fall for false sense of security.
I can’t disagree with this Linas. Lexus approved should stand for something in the marketplace and some dealers appear to be doing their best to de-value the brand. Agreed, definitely.

I understand that Bio-ethanol is 33% less efficient than pure fuel in terms of burning the fuel and creating power. I’ve just read a report that states that E10 fuel will reduce engine performance by about 1% when compared to E5 fuel. Based on this I’d expect a similar difference between e5 fuel and fuel with no bio-ethanol. I seem to recall plenty of reports when we moved to e5 fuel warning about reduced engine efficiency. Of course, no-one is going to notice a 1% drop in engine performance. Other European countries have been using e10 fuel for years so we’re only catching up with the rest of Europe. I reckoned that the ~1% difference was effectively a third of 5%.
On a related note, I’ve just done two tankful a of Shell V-Power and seen much better economy. By 2mpg over both tankfulls. More testing required on my part but I may continue to use it. V-Power will continue to be e5.

Joking aside, I manage ok with the Lexus satnav. It’s never let me down. As I’ve mentioned above, I don’t need to use it on a day to day basis visiting places I’ve never previously visited. Suspect I might have to review my first statement if I did need to do this. A mate’s brand new 530e is sublime from a graphics, media and satnav perspective but then it is a generation newer than most Lexus systems. I thought the satnav on a recent loan UX was pretty good to be honest.

I think some people have sense of direction, some people don't - I don't believe using paper map somehow improves it. That said - knowing how to use maps is beneficial, even if you use digital maps after that it is still useful to know what the map is as many rules applies to nay map anyway.
I guess one of my issues with paper map is that it is not possible to use it whilst driving (or would not be safe anyway). Second reason is that - I don't actually use maps or sat-nav because i don't know where I am going.. sure if it is middle of nowhere and I have never been there before it is useful as well, but most of the time only need it to see traffic condition and to advise me on alternative routes. If it won't be there I would still reach my destination, maybe just not as quick.
I have secondary satnav on my car. I open the map and tape it to the steering wheel. It’s a bit of a pain as the route goes over to another page mind! Even more so when the next page is 10 pages away in the map book 🤣🤣🤣

Not wanting to cause an argument but if I remember correctly my insurance has both a voluntary and also a compulsory excess, the sum of which will add up to about £500, plus the increase in premiums ad infinitum.
Speaking completely hypothetically (because I've never researched it so I don't know if this would work or not) a very cursory look on the Bay of Fleas shows that I can get a cheapo Magnaflow 400 Zeller Ceramic core replacement for around £180.
So for me (at least hypothetically) that's what I'd do, or have a straight pipe welded in and bother about the legalities later.
Exactly! It seems to be rocketing skyward faster than Jeff Besos!
I still have to convert back to gallons. 146.9p per litre is homing in on £7 a gallon which is just bloody awful really when you think about it ☹️

Yeah, pretty sure I’d be looking at all options if it ever happens to me. Agreed.

Yes, if the defect is attributable to "manufacturing or assembly" Paul !
Now, that is going to be difficult to prove at any point in time.
We all wait to see how the Terms and Conditions Document is to be interpreted, don`t we ?😉
We do indeed 😉

I have no idea! I have shone a torch in through one ear and there is a beam of light coming out through the other ear. Is this normal I wonder?

I think the furthest I've ever been down this path is attaching a piece of cardboard to the frame of my Raleigh Chopper (purple...) with a clothes peg so it sounded like a 500cc Superbike as I rode it, and cutting out a piece of paper from Autocar with "Turbo" on it and sticking it in the back screen of my mum's Suzuki SC100.
Been there done that 🤣🤣🤣

I always use the Lexus nav. Keep a map in the car too. JLR nav isn’t that great either when comparing generations on a like for like basis. Mine has never let me down but then again I go to the same place of work and only that location every day. Well I did pre-Covid anyway. Nowadays I don’t need satnav to get from my bedroom to my home office via the kitchen 😀

The normal every day policing of our roads has just about completely disappeared over the last 20 years unfortunately. It happens outside my house in a quiet rural village road I would say 2-3 times a week and that’s when I’m around to hear it so probably happening more than that. It’s unburnt fuel being dumped into the exhaust where it detonates, I think.

Well... I have had my MRI scan.
Feeling very spaced out still from the meds ( 4mg Lorezapam ).
( Having to correct almost every word I type.)
Yes, it was better than I thought, but that was no doubt due to...
Really good support from here and practical advice. Thank you so much.
Doing physical exercise in the morning.
Taking sedation ,took away the anxious feeling. Left me very wobbly afterwards,
Music to (attempt) to listen to.
An eye mask - a must; eyes closed.
Excellent and caring staff all the way.
Going in feet first.
Listening to all the odd MRI sounds and 'engaging' with them.
Having a chaperone - my wife.
Having a panic button - not used.
Took 45 minutes to scan.
And yes, told noththing about results as yet...
I wish you all the very best with your results.
I’ve had one myself. Surprised and yet pleased to hear that this is something that many have gone through. I went in head first but guess that was because it was my head that was being scanned. They said all was ok but they never actually told me whether I had a brain or not. I really should have checked.

Used to check mine once a week when I was doing loads of miles (500-1,000 per week), without fail. Nowadays it’s a once a month check or thereabouts. Which reminds me.....

Hi did you get anywhere with this? My boot was opening intermittently the nit opening at all. At a service they managed to reset it but told me that if it happened again I would have to have the electric lift posts replaced at £850 each plus labour plus VAT 🥺
Would these be covered by the new free Relax warranty?

E10 Fuel In NX

I’m going to continue my experiment with V-Power. Definitely had a 2mpg increase over two fill ups which equates to about 5% which is about half the price difference. Factor in the cleaning additives and I think it might be worth it for me. After all I take care with what food I eat so why not similar with the car. I’ll do two more fill ups with V-Power and review then.
