  1. A cancelled order then and also a few owners thinking about selling theirs. This could easily snowball into a bigger problem for Lexus if they aren’t careful. The Police are woefully under resourced to do anything about this and they are in any case often too busy because they are performing their perceived social and community roles to prevent crime in the first place. And precious metals are in high demand. A perfect storm perhaps?

Attempting to return this excellent Post back to normality, just filled my tank again with Asda E10 fuel.

Mpg down c.2.5 equating to a 6% reduction in efficiency on an engine designed for its use.

Also I am convinced the MK 2 NX looks too much like like our current model which is disappointing to say the least.

That’s quite a difference! Early days I suppose but not great if it continues. Fuel prices increasing and can’t go as far in e10 for each litre / gallon. A double whammy!

  3. This thread reminds me of something that always holds true. A £55k car when new that is purchased for say £12k many years down the line still has the running costs of a £55k car in terms of repairs and consumables etc. It’s easy to think well I’ve bought a luxury car for the price of a nearly new Fiesta but the running costs are never ever the same.

  4. I’ve never signed any courtesy car agreement over the last 4-5 years I’d say. They just don’t do them any more although there does now seem to be a charge of about £12. They used to have signed agreements but from memory these were mainly aimed at the insurance clauses and damage and speeding fines etc. Unless you sign an agreement stipulating a mileage limit or you have a mileage limit specifically and verbally confirmed to you at the point you are handed the keys then there cannot be a mileage limit. There just can’t be. 220 miles for what is effectively 3 days sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

  5. About 12 years ago I was told that mobile phone companies were making substantial provision for future claims regarding the impact of long term mobile phone use. I don’t know how true this was or is now but it came from a reliable source within the industry. Could have well have been :censored: but equally could be the truth.

Pleased for you results were good.

How quickly you get a scan and any necessary treatment on the NHS can depend on post code and the reason for the scan.  Generally speaking, priority during the pandemic has been given to people with cancer.  I spoke with a consultant from a major London Hospital about this recently and was told that with cooperation from other London Hospitals, cancer diagnosis and treatment at their particular hospital had not been been much affected.  Having had my latest MRI and biopsy there recently, I am scheduled to have a second treatment of HIFU (High Intensity Focal Ultrasound) later this month.

For some problems, a patient may be given an opinion on their MRI very soon but with cancer, the scan and the patient's histology is usually discussed by a Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT), and a particular case may just miss the next meeting, thereby increasing the delay before the  patient receives the result and possible treatment options.

    Wish you all the best

.............. having had all my cancer stuff and, touch wood, successful radiotherapy and surgery throughout this dreadful covid period, the several and various  MRI scans were without a doubt very very prompt, quick and available ....... as an NHS patient along with everyone else here with any form or fear of cancer ......... there was in my instance absolutely zero delay with the assorted MRI scans I had .........  NHS providing very well indeed for me at the Point of Need

And Piers ......  well done, maybe be like me and just happily wake up every morning thanking whomsoever for such a wonderful and marvellous day that's ahead

No complaints about that at all ... grab the day eh ! :yahoo:

A great story and a great attitude 👍

That should not have happened unless you had a service - Relax is triggered by having a service done.

In March we bought our 2018 RX, which came with 12-months Lexus Warranty that covers us to March 2022. On the same day we picked up our car I also completed the paperwork and started monthly payments on a 2-year 'traditional' Lexus Extended Warranty that we've all been used to for a few years now, and that comes into effect when the dealer warranty expires in March 2022. So, between the dealer warranty and our 'traditional' Extended Warranty, we're covered until March 2024.

I have not asked for a refund and I have no intention of giving up our 'proper' warranty in favour of Relax, which is a vastly inferior product.

The screenshot below is from the Lexus UK official Facebook page:

    Your usual blunt communication 👍🤣

I agree it's very subjective. I think that I'll stick with my extended warranty (12 months left) rather than opting for refund and relying on Relax, until things become a bit clearer.

If I could offer another perspective here. If I still had 12 months to go on my Extended Warranty, I’d keep it going. I’d have already paid for the better warranty so it would make sense to keep it going. I’d only get a myself a refund if I needed the cash.

The FDA and National Cancer Institute in the US, the WHO and Cancer Research UK tend to disagree with you. All say that the rf radiation emissions are low and the only scientifically proven impact is a heating of the tissue surrounding the device, which in my experience is less than holding a cup of tea. Of course if it concerns you, then keep the phone away from your body, but I'll go with the scientific evidence for the time being.

It’s more the impact of long term exposure to constant use. Phones are constantly radiating with all manner of apps constantly connecting to the internet via the mobile signal when no WiFi is available. Not to mention the phone constantly radiating to its local cell for phone purposes. No authority states continual use of a mobile phone is safe.

Once the data for the effects of long term use and exposure to mobile phones is available the scientific evidence will change.

  11. I’m not going to worry too much about extended warranty v Relax v no warranty. I had been contemplating the paradox that I drive a Lexus because they are so reliable but I still planned to renew my extended warranty just in case. I’m happy with a free warranty and £125 for breakdown cover (inc the cover for my wife). Time will tell whether that remains the case. The real test will be if I have to pay for a repair that would have been covered by the extended warranty. And I’ll worry about that if/when it occurs and not before.

  12. Widespread BEV ownership may lead to higher prices for electricity. Fuel duty on petrol and diesel just morphs into a fuel duty on electricity perhaps. There won’t be an inexpensive and therefore sustainable way of accurately determining how each unit of electricity is being used so there could just be a tax on each unit of electricity passed onto all consumers.
