Yes, it is deplorable that those who have been elected to take care of us all and the planet we live on that gives us what we need, do not care, that those who live in places where an increased water level of one meter destroys their country and will have to find another place to live, are more interested in pleasing the lobby club of fossil fuels industry, than in doing what is right.

The, often mentioned 1½ degree will be met in 2030 when continuing as usual and not by the end of the century as agreed on earlier. The compensation promised to those that are being damaged by the climate change has not yet been started though 171 countries would pay to it. The gigantic amount will probably never be paid by any of the generous donors. Let's all become ostriches, bury our heads in the sand and hope the problems will just disappear. If we do not tell our leaders they must act I a way they understand we are all guilty.

If it is better that many can live in abundance and comfort on the expense of ruining the habitat of others, it should be mandatory to offer those who will have to move at least as good a place as what they come from, so they can live like they are used to.

Greed and foolishness are terrible things, but hypocrites always come up with excuses to do what is easiest and most profitable for themselves.

Not sure what prompted this. Hope all is well over there.

    - Young people, by which I mean anybody under forty. “Youth is wasted on the young” (I was the exception, obviously)

    - The metric system, what’s that all about? The previous methods had served us well for a few hundred years. I like furlongs, Fahrenheit and chains. As the Headmaster at my Prep said in c1975, “…I’m not teaching any of you this French rubbish. It’ll never catch on…”

    - Avacados. Tasteless garbage.

    - Food served on anything other than a plate in a restaurant. If I wanted to eat of a piece of slate, I’d get up onto the roof.

    - American terms used in England. We’re in England, it’s our language! Things like Trunk, Aluminum and garbage…

    - Re-writing history. It may not be nice, and it may offend our modern sensibilities, but the clue is in the name. It’s HISTORY. We need to teach it and learn from it rather than airbrushing it so as not to cause offence. Otherwise we risk making the same mistakes all over again.

That’ll do for now. More to come…😆

    Amen to this lot 👍

For my 2nd service recently, I had overpressured my tyres slightly to 2.5 bar cold prior to the service. After I got the car back again, I checked the pressure reading the following day, and it read 2.3 bar cold (correct for the RX). So at least they did adjust the tyre pressures if nothing else 😄

They probably walked round and kicked all four tyres too. Just to make sure the car was fully sound 😀

  4. Reminds me again of an accident somewhere in Chelsea outside a school. A 4x4 was neatly parked on top of the bonnet of a low slung coupe. The driver of the 4x4 was heard to say “that’s not supposed to happen, I have rear parking sensors”. I wonder if this holds any sway on an insurance claim form when asked “in your opinion whose fault was the accident?”

Mincey will be able to state on his claim form that he was testing out a hitherto unknown feature that didn’t work as expected. That will be enough for a no-fault claim I’m sure!! 🤣

Likely to be misrepresented as the pure internal combustion engine output (155bhp) versus combined (IC+electric = 194bhp)

The 200T was the only petrol (2L turbo) offered and for not that long either - 175bhp.

Think the 200T had more power than that? Well mine did anyway.

But Paul, we are their parents or parents parents! So should we accept some culpability? Having said that I believe something much more insidious is at play. That is, once you accept the concept of disposable "stuff" then that is one step away from having disposable history, thoughts and empirical evidence. Witness some of the things that are being expounded today, let alone in 5/10 years from now

Yes some culpability certainly but as any parent will know, trying to stop teenagers and young adults from doing what they want is an almost impossible task in today’s world nowadays.

  7. I’m afraid it’s the current young generation that waste more energy than any generation before it. New phones every year, throwing away perfectly good electrical items, upgrading anything and everything as soon as they can. Buying the must have latest fashion accessories and clothes well before their current ones are ready to be replaced from a wear and value perspective. They have to be driven to school, they cannot walk anywhere, they have to jet off somewhere for holidays every time, I could go on. The pampered younger generation who want it all, want to take no responsibility for their actions and want to blame everyone but themselves for everything. Feel better now I’ve got that one off my chest 🤣🤣🤣

    Paul,

I largely agree! My current issue is I'd like all the bugs fixed that came with the car so that it behaves as per the manual.

One reason for infotainment updates (outside of bug fixing) is e.g. Bluetooth changes for compatability with new phones. This is reasonable given the length of time we expect cars to last compared to phones.

    Paul

Yes I can see your frustration. The danger is that every new update fixes previously known bugs but introduces new bugs. And the cycle starts all over again!

    Hi Paul,

Even usb based audio and navigation software updates have contained significant bugs on the MM19 system. At present the OTA stuff is only updating the map database... The new NX with the MM21 infotainment will do full OTA updates of software and map data....

They have had OTA updates on American models for longer....

    Paul

I just like a car to work the same every day. Then again I’d happily keep the same  phone all the time. I don’t really see the need to keep updating the car. I’m sure I’m not the target market for all of the tech in cars nowadays 😀
