  1. I said the same things when I had the Mk1. But now I have the Mk2 it is so much better and it grows on you real fast, when I see a Mk1 it seems so outdated to me now. But now Im not sure about the Mk3.
  2. What Ive read about BMW and Merc drivers with their heated steering wheels they say the could not live without it, when I consider all the toys in my Lex I don't use eg:- Manual gear change buttons, headlight up and down adjustment, dual heating, snow button, a heated steering wheel would be more useful. Well some people would say "well you cant have it all" ... Well I'm sorry but I do.
  3. Thanks shake, Im sure that will look real nice not to mention the blisters and flesh burning smell . Na Ill just get a second car a BMW or a Cadillac for those freezing mornings :winky: (Take note Lexus)
  4. I spoke too soon my light came back on this morning :shutit: :shutit: Im going to change the sensors myself one at a time, starting with one after the cat, I can get ride of the light by resetting the ECU and she still drives perfect, it must be a sensor "I hope ".
  5. I see some BMW, Merc, Audi, and others have heated steering wheels, I love my leather steering wheel but at this time of the year its freezing cold, Warm Bum and body and cold hands and I am not one for driving gloves or fur wheel covers. Q:- Do Lexus do one ??
  6. UPDATE I have done a few 100 miles and still no light on, she seems to of got over it. Looks like I escaped a £900 repair :shutit: Thanks guys for your help.
  7. Driving along the other day and out of the blue (as it does) comes on the "Malfunction Light" oh what can this be I ask, so I take it to Lexus Stoke-on-Trent they say the "Computer Say's" Catalytic Converter or sensors :shutit: £900 fitted but not in stock. I get in the car and drive home they must of reset the system as no light on dash, two days later it comes on again, I reset the ECU and the light stays on for 4 starts and goes off and at the moment it is staying off. I look up GS300 Mk2 Cat on the net and I can get one for £235 not fitted. I need some advice on what to do guys Thanks.
  8. I put Rain X on my windscreen "NEVER AGAIN" its ok untill your driving at night in the rain with wipers on and lights coming the other way "major smearing" cant see where your going :shutit: , but ok on the back.
  9. Load Forced Balancing is the best £40 Ive ever spent on my Lex, I had it done at BMTR Birmingham, thanks to Mark W, Im just amazed at the smoothness even at very low speeds its like a new car even rides the bumps better, I can now say I like the ride of my GS for the first time ever. Thanks again Mark W for all your help. My steering is just fine so I wont bother with the Pretensioner adjustment. :winky:
  10. Thanks guys, I will report this to the Trading Standards, and give them the link to this thread and see what happens, but I wont hold my breath. I do run the cost of all my car repairs and services through my business books which is a big help, but alot of people cant do that, I see over 2000 people have read these posts so Im sure Lexus Wolverhampton have lost some business as a result. Im just sad that this has happend as I had pride in the Lexus customer care thing, but now Im not so sure, Ok maybe one bad apple, but maybe not. Its a shame Lexus GB does not get involved with this website and start kicking some ***** out there, If I owened Lexus I would be fireing people. I will be useing Toyota in Telford from now on, but I will be keeping a eye on them, I just thank *** for LOC and you guys.
  11. Sorted, well happy :winky: went to ATS Cannock the guys there are very good they found one of my front wheels slightly buckled they said it will be ok on the back, (they showed me the buckle) no one else picked up on that, they checked all the wheels and only one was out by 5 grams. They were fast and no hanging around, I said good job guys how much do I owe you they said nothing they did all that work for free I was shocked what a service. The car is just perfect now thanks to Wheels-inmotion.co.uk and you Mark W and the guys at ATS Cannock (Dan & buddys). Thanks again Mark W, I could not wave to you as I came in along the A5 from Newport Shropshire, it was well worth the drive to Cannock the fast food there is alot better than here also. I know where Im going to buy my tyres in the future, my car now drives 'sooo nice' even better at low speeds. LOC does it again, thank you all.
  12. To save time I phoned my local ATS and they said yes bring it in they can do it, so I did only to find out their adaptor plate wont fit my wheel "Da" so they did it the normal way and found both wheels were 10 grams out. Lexus Wolverhampton said my wheels are spot on, Lexus also had cranked up my wheel nuts way way too tight. Note:- I would not have Lexus Wolverhampton sweep my floor.. EVER. I will be going to ATS Cannock to get it done because its still not right, alot better yes, but still a slight wobble at 60
  13. Thanks Mark W, This has been doing my head in for along time, Im off to Cannock today to get mine done. Thanks again Ill let you know how I get on.
  14. Yes rain water pours out of the grill when I lift the bonnet up and can go on the engine if lifted up fast, Ive had no more rain water problems since I park the car nose faceing up my hill, I have a look everytime it rains, so yea im out there all the time I have seen water sitting on the bonnet seal at the back (fire wall) so I think that is where it comes in, my old mk 1 let water in the boot alot (seals again).
  15. Yes keeping to the old speed limit is not easy in these cars, and my mk2 GS does use a bit more fuel than my old mk1 dont know why, its got the same engine, but does have more power than the old mk1. My GS is not so good around town (mpg) but shes very good on a run, as good as the old mk1. These cars are worth it, I dont do loads of miles about £30 per week. We just must keep an eye on the rain.
  16. Thanks Mark W Ive noted that, I would say my parking is about a 20 deg incline also, i now park the other way round. Yea it dose sound you had the same problem and you did the right thing, your V8 must be amazing I cannot imagine more power than I already have, Ive never ever put my foot to the floor I hate to think what would happen :shutit:
  17. The service manager told me on the phone they dident have any print outs as water was found in cylinders and coolant was low (did not say how low) and the head had to come off. So what can one say? I cant prove anything a few water marks on the engine is not much to go on, I dont see them admitting they got it wrong so it would end up in big shouting match, broken windows and me draged off by the cops. :shutit: The botton line is I did not listen to you guys and get someone else to look at it, I just trusted Lexus Wolverhampton, like I said a right tit
  18. Well Im in shock, I took the plasic cover off my engine which still has the water mark on it and followed the mark down onto the top of rocker cover and then it runs down to the spark plugs and coils hence flooding the plugs and coils and has nowhere else to go. :tsktsk: it was that very heavy rain storm that did it. I got my old head gasket back with the car there is no sign of leaking anywhere on it. I am now going to apologize to you guys here on the forum for slagging off Lexus, and I apologize to my GS also as she DID NOT FAIL, she drives real nice with new plugs and cam belt I love her to bits. I simply trusted Lexus Wolverhampton as Ive been dealing with them for years, I have noticed alot of new people there now, I will not be useing them again I had a paper with the bill saying I have brake judder, which I dont, I still have wheel wobble at 60-70 MPH :tsktsk: I shall get the locals to see if they can sort it, after all what can it be ? wheel balance, tracking, ball joint ? I have all new brakes (disks & pads all round) but it was doing it before then, new tyres also, so what can it be ? I take it all back guys, and Im glad im staying with my GS, I will be taking steps to stop rain water doing this again. I hope Lexus UK reads the posts on here and takes a long hard look at there dealers as a result, or maybe Lexus Wolverhampton would like to make a comment about mine and Mark W's cases, but im not going to hold my breath. Thanks TigerFish for your post, I think this rain water thing is more common than we think, I know a Vauxhall owner and he said it happen to him twice. One thing I can say is the car came back very clean. Rule No 1 aways listen to the guys on LOC and do what they say. :winky: I feel a real tit now
  19. Got the car back today (11th day) got the old gasket cant see anything obvious on it. I talked to the service manager on the phone and asked for the computer read outs he said they dont have any, as coolant was found in cylinders, but I did find the cap left off the computer port under the dash. So what I got is old gaskets and the bill £1,362.93p :shutit: But hey I got new cam belt, and plugs, coolant, and head gasket. They could not find a fault on my wheel balance problem, they say its brake judder and I need new disks and pads, I said no because I had them all changed 2 months ago and I know what brake judder is like and I dont have it, I get wheel wobble at 60-70 MPH only I had the same problem on my old mk 1 GS and never found a fix. So Lexus wolverhampton could not fix my wheel wobble problem a common GS thing. So what went wrong with my GS ?? this is what I think and a few other people I have been talking to, I park my car on a small hill with the car faceing down, we had that big rain storm that flooded peoples homes (car standing all day in it) that same evening I go to the supermaket only 500 yrds away, coming back the engine started missing (not even up to full temp). The next day I look under the bonnet and see a water mark on the top back left of the plastic engine cover the mark ran down to the bolt head of plastic cover (back left) so I take the cover off and have a look but I dident look very closely, I think if I got a flash light and looked down to the bottom of the spark plugs I might of seen a rain water flood down there shorting out a few plug leads or coil, when the lexus technician took out the spark plugs the rain water ran into a few cylinders. Now the samething happend to my old GS and Lexus changed sparkplugs and leads (sorted) I maybe wrong, so Im keeping the car to see if this happens again after more rain, the bonnet rubber seal looks ok but at the cars angle rain water just might be getting past it. Sorry this is long and boreing guys, has anyone here heard of this before ? Thanks for your input guys.
  20. Thanks Guys, I get the car back this monday, they would of had it for ten days, they say the job is done and are testing it. I will get a full report read outs and such and hopfully the reason for the failure. I am so sick I just love the car so much but this has shook my faith badly in the car.
  21. Just got back from Lexus Wolverhampton, Talked to the right person and seen the car, The story is- Coolant found in cyl 1 and 4 and coolant low, but not run out done comprestion test on all cyl's all ok. They say this is unheard of and are taking the head off today to find out whats gone wrong. There is no coolant in the electrics (I heard that wrong), but they said the lights on dash will come on as it sees mis-fireing. Dont know final cost untill they find out what needs to be done. What ever is wrong its not good, I will find out more later today or tomorrow. :shutit:
  22. Im sorry but they did also say the leak was entering the electrics. And yea I will go and have a look for myself.
