@Flytvr I've just checked the Listers Lexus site and mine is back on there as of today and @Mark G has gone maybe the buyer changed his mind....😂

    🐀

I wonder if stock handing around for 7 months is ok for them? I wonder how the car has been treated during it's 7 month sat at a dealership? I wonder how low they'd go on the asking price...probably not as low as I wanted them to go [and now they'd have to buy my For STi off me] :)

Congratulations, the wife has a Subaru Outback, although a nice car it definitely isn’t an F experience, having had both heads done I’ve been assured it’ll outlive me, so fingers crossed yours has been done 🤞🏻......any oil smell is the start, not visible as it drops on the exhaust, but this is the cheap time to rectify, although anything but cheap.......five garages and no agreeable diagnostic, so make sure u trust the garage that’ll be looking after it. 👍

The 2.5 isn’t renowed for its reliability, which will be something always in the back of my mind...I’ve got a bit of a slush fund for repair work but rebuilds are quite common (at a cost of 4-5k)!!

There a specialist in Warwick that I’ve read good things about - http://tdracing.co.uk/

  4. Cheers guys.

It's got roughly 330bhp and just under 400lb-ft, so pretty brisk!

I'm still getting used to the way it delivers the power. It's pretty tough to drive smoothly as it so full on, all the time! Fine if I fancy going for a blast down some nice roads but less so if I'm just popping to the shop with the wife!

As mentioned, it is pretty practical. Haven't tried fitting in the baby seat yet though so all hell will brake lose if that test doesn't go well.

Spec is nice on this one. Previous owners have spent a few quid. I'll have to post up the full list.

  5. I haven't been on here for a while, mainly cos my ISF search came to an end.

I wasn't having any luck find one that ticked all the boxes [will I did, an ex-forum car, but unfortunately the owner had to sell before I could get sorted], when all of a sudden a different car become available that I have always been interested in.

In my head, there wasn't a massive difference...fast, Japanese, more than 3-doors!

So here's what I bought [if this pic works]!

I sold my Evora late last year ready to buy a house this year and this time next year will be looking for a cheapish car for a few years that won’t lose too much £££.

I bought and sold my previous isf for the same money 2 years in and 10k mikes later.

Are values still holding well? I’d be looking at a later car this time around. Ideally 2013, low miles etc. I am liking the c63amg coupe but residuals don’t seem too clever! Even on a 5 year old low mileage example.

    Stu

With your budget there will always be a good selection of ISFs.

Drop under 20k and it becomes a bit harder to find a good one. I’ve been on the look out for a while now (under 20k, any colour, under 60k miles, FSH etc) but have pretty much given up... I’m probably going to view a different car this weekend and will come back to the ISF in a few years.

Right before I do about 1000 miles criss crossing the country looking at all the USB ISFs for sale at various traders, are there any forum members thinking about selling up? If so, please get in contact with me!

Thank you! I will really look after it!

I’m in the same position as you mate, though would be happy with any colours. Pity all the current ISFs are late low milers (so out of my budget)... I’ve started thinking about alternative cars now, if I have to put the plan of owning an ISF on ice!

@BUG4LIFE i brought the one from Lexus Liverpool buddy, i waited for a long time before pulling the trigger, one is for sale on ebay for sub 15k with 87k on the clock ..

Yeah I saw your original thread when you bought it. Very nice mate. I did speak to the dealer multiple times about the car but they wouldn’t drop to my offer (luckily for you).

I saw that one on eBay but my budget will get one with less miles, so happy to keep looking.

Rhys please don't think I am having s dig at anyone on here, this is just my take on the situation.

If they aren't selling at the dealers for what they are asking then where are they going because they are going somewhere, they have to be, somebody is buying them, if the dealers were offloading them to independents and they in turn were advertising the cars at a price that people thought was closer to there true value then we would see them and be talking about them on here.

I think the dealers are in the enviable position of being able to add their £5k profit and sit on the car, if it doesn't sell they move it to another part of the country and see what happens, I completely agree it is a strange situation, private buyers cant shift them when they are £3-£5k below the dealer price but the dealers don't appear to be able to shift them either.

There we are, I have droned on for ages and still not arrived at the answer...............................

    I don’t think you’re having a go mate, we’re all just having a discussion :)

They aren’t going anywhere. There is currently 5 on the Lexus used site. A good few of those have been there for many months.

The couple that have sold recently at Lexus dealerships (a white one at Liverpool Lexus that’s was owned by a forum member and a black one that dropped to under £19k but wasn’t really mentioned on here) were both under that magic £20k.

I don’t really know what my point is now, haha!

Since owning an IS-F I completely understand the prices the dealers are asking for the cars, if someone pays whatever the dealer is asking then the car is worth the asking price, maybe not to you but it is to someone else, the one thing I don't get is when people say "for £25k I could of bought a M3/5 or RS4/6 or Jag R" well go and buy one then, however if you want a four seat 400+bhp high performance saloon from Lexus then the price is the price...........................

That's what I'm saying though...they aren't selling at the dealer prices!

Not that that's a concern of the people who part exchanged them, but it's a pain for me cos there was a higher chance I could of bought one of them before the dealer stuck on their £5k+!

I think it's fair to say 'I could of got such and such for £25k'. At the end of the day they perceive an M5 [or whatever] to be a class above and worth the extra money. For £20k and under I don't think anything comes close to an ISF.

Call me selfish but all of these high priced cars are doing wonders for the people that still own ISFs.  Hopefully it will inflate prices a little.

Only if the high priced ones sell mate...which they don't appear to be. Look on the Lexus used car site. A few of those have been up for sale for months.

You'd have to really really love the ISF to drop mid twenty and up on one - finding a £30k buyer will be a miracle!

I think high teens is the sweet spot [though I don't expect get a late car with small miles for this price]. I need a 4/5 door car, roughly the same footprint as an ISF, I got money in the bank waiting for the right car...I honesty can't think on another car I want more than an ISF for under £20k [Evo X maybe].

I agree with Big Rat though, selling a car privately at this price point brings a whole bunch of potential problems so I can see why so many have part exchanged instead.

  12. Damn all these lovely ISFs up for sale that are out of my price range! Looks very very nice.

Flytvr, you jest but it is a shame there seems to be quite a number of ex-forum cars up for sale at the mo at dealers (some for quite a while) with figures that may make them hard to sell...a private sale however may of kept them in ‘the family’!

Good idea but playing devils advocate, a theft like this is probably targeted...if they can't gain access using a scanner, would they they then try and enter the house? I'm thinking if the car is targeted and they want it that bad, let them have it, I don't want them in my house. Or are these opportunist?

Interested to get views on this....

Can't just hand it to them on a plate mate!

I agree, you wouldn't want them entering your house but I'd guess the majority of them wouldn't take the risky next step and try braking your door down etc.

They have offered the 2 year warranty for £895 for ages. When they say "we're currently offering you 24 months for the price of 12" its just a marketing tactic to make you think you're special and getting a better deal.

Yeah, that is a good price for 24 months on such a car.

But, I was wondering if a dealer would up their normal used car warranty, of 1 year, to 2 years to secure a sale...I can but ask I guess!!!

  15. Yeah I could do that. I would just have to factor in spending £900 Before it turns 10. I do have faith in the reliability of the car (one of the things that attracts me to it) but as is being discussed on the ‘true cost’ thread, an ISF can of course be expensive should something go wrong.

I can try talking the dealer into extending the 1 year warranty into 2 though I guess, FOC?!

Did anyone know the answer to this? Can you keep extending the warranty even though the car would be over 10 years?

Going back to my question...I've been chatting to a very helpful lady at a Lexus dealer today and asked about extending the warranty beyond 10 years if it's continuous. She went to find out, came back and said no you can't do this!

So, if I was to buy a 2008 ISF through a dealer today [which would have a normal 1 year warranty applied to it] and wanted to buy the £895 2 year warranty a year down the line, I wouldn't be aloud!!

Something for me to now think about.

Not wanting to take the side of a dealer but they aren't making 25% profit, by the time you take into account the price of the warranty they will put on the car, the wages of everyone involved in the prep and the overheads while the car is sat in a well lit warm showroom giving out free coffee and biscuits the margin is coming down all the time.

They may sell the car for 25% more than they paid for it but it certainly isn't all profit.

My bad, I didn’t mean profit. Just wondering what percentage a dealer would expect to make on a year 10 year old car that they took in as part ex for just above mid teens? Does the warranty cost them any cash too?

    ... @BUG4LIFE isn’t a million miles off though...

Mate, don't tell us the figure, I don't want to know!

I totally understand why you guys have been trading your ISF's in - the time, worry and fuss you save is more important than a couple of grand. For me though it's a killer as another great example has a huge amount of cash added to the asking price [I doubt Hedge End have done anything to the car either].

I'm going to keep my eye on these few cars though and maybe make a more realistic offer in the future...I have time of my side!

Out of interest, anyone know what a dealer would expect to make on a part-ex at this price? If Hedge End get near their asking price that's like 25% profit!
