  1. OMG!!!! Having read this I just check my car - the inside of the front offside is completely bald!!! The car has only done 7000 miles......all the other tyres are a-okay. Do you think I have a chance for claiming consequental damage from the dealer / warranty?
  2. Sorry boys and girls, I know this has been done before, but I thought I'd just try and tap the font of knowledge that is this forum. My IS came with Bridgestone RE 040 fitted. These will need changing soon. My local tyre fitter has Michelin Pilot Sport going cheap (much cheaper than the best price I can find for the 040's being on Blackcircle.com). Does anyone use these? Are they good / bad? Iain
  3. I got my IS200 on a good deal as the dealer had it "in stock". Unfortunately it does not have Sat Nav. Is it possible to add afterwards? Or can anyone recommend a better system for aftermarket use?
  4. Just completed a trip from London to Manchester and back. Usual weekend traffic and a trip into central Manc in medium traffic on Saturday am. Did the whole trip on 3/4 of a tank. Just done the maths - 31.12 mpg which is not that bad as we were three up with lots of luggage and the A/C going all the time.
  5. Renewed my insurance today. Lexus insurance came in almost 200 notes cheaper than the best of the rest - Norwich Union. Plus I like the reduced excess and the Lexus repair policy. Strange - I've just also renewed my Z4 insurance (its been an expensive month) and BMW Insurance came in over 250 pounds better that the rest. Might be something in this?
  6. Nothing is selling at the moment - spending is down massively. Few factors: 1. New ones being sold at a discount / good deals 2. People afraid of interest rate rises 3. Summertime - people busy buying holidays etc. Give it a few weeks and then have another go.
  7. That would be funny - again, a bit OT (sorry) but I use mine to get rid of those annoying windscreen wiper people. Goes like this.... "Windscreen Gov? "No thanks" "Only take a sec" "No, sod off" "Oh its dirty, I'll do it anyway" Iain hits wipers and headlights spray as well, just as bloke is leaning over my bonnet - Ha Ha. Lights to Green - see ya!
  8. Can't believe what I have just read. My personal thought is that my IS200 SE is about the best built car I've ever had. My Audi S3 comes about equal, but in terms of the sheer quality of fittings, the Lexus wins hands down. I've had two Mercs, two VW's, one Audi and I currently have a BMW Z4. Save for the Audi and my old 1986 Golf GTi, the Lexus build quality leaves all of them in the shade. As for the Fords, Peugeots, Vauxhalls, Renaults etc I've had as lease cars - It's not even worth going into details. As for Saab, my mother in law is a Saab devotee - She has nothing else. Her current 9-5 Turbo SE is a catalogue of disasters - I went in it the other day the check control was going mad. Bong - Parking sensor failure; Bong - Foglight failure; Bong - Alarm system malfunction; Bong.............. A £30+k car that three years later is worth, wait for it, £7k on trade-in for another Saab 9-5, with only 50k miles on the clock. I'll have three please
  9. Is this really worth doing? I've done this on other cars and the DME simply compensates back so you get slightly better mpg (well that's what happened on my 330ci) and not performance difference. Please feel free to shoot me down in flames....
  10. You managed over 30mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!! I usually struggle to get over 26 in mine, and we have exactly the same car.....what am I doing wrong?
  11. Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum having got my IS200 SE a few months ago. The time has come when I want to start adding a few things so I thought I'd ask a few questions. My shopping list is a follows: 1. Headlights - Thinking of adding some PIAA bulbs to brighten the lights up - anyone else done this or should I just go the whole hog and buy and HID kit? 2. Rear view mirror - I would like one of the auto-dipping ones - like the IS300 - can this be added to the IS200? 3. Tinted glass - I don't want the full gansta look, but as the car is granite sky some form of light smoking on the glass might look good - again are there any recommendations for this? 4. Stereo - I want to uprate the speakers - again does anyone know of good suppliers and any problems with this. Sorry for all the silly questions. Iain
  12. Ok people, am on the new toy hunt again. Having purchased my first Lexus last year (New IS200SE A) I am thinking of getting shot of the Z4 - nice as it is, it's just not that special. Thus, am thinking of a newish SC430? Any views? What do you love and what do you hate about them? Please let me know. Thanks Iain
  13. Hello everyone - I bought my new IS 200 SE Auto a couple of months ago - Granite Sky with Auto. I absolutely love it. However, I have noticed that the alloys are already 'pitting' along the leading edge of the spoke. Is this common? The dealers says he will replace all 5 wheels, so I guess this is a common problem? What happens in 3 years time when the warranty ends.......
