The car only has 52k on the clock. So I'm thinking its not really worry it at the moment.
I'd say you're wasting your time...
...but...
...sometimes you get an itch to do something to your car, something easy that just won't go away
Get yourself to Halfords or ECP, buy some stuff, put it in the tank, that's that crossed off the list! It won't do any harm.

I've used additives once or twice on older 100k+ mile cars that I've picked up. Redex iirc and Cataclean. Their claims are largely nonsense but don't do any harm. My logic is that I buy a car with 120,000 miles, run something through the tank and then just use decent quality petrol.

Oo what'd you have in mind? I'd love to somehow get rid of the ETCS i system. I don't know of anyone who did it successfully yet tho.
Sorry. Didn't see this. ICE - In Car Entertainment. Nothing more technical than that.
Today I cleaned it (again) and thought I'd have a little shufty at the cabin filter. Took it out, gave it a vac, put it back. Continue to be amazed at how accessible items like that are. Two little pins to remove the entire glove box and you're in.

Little bit confused on that. I understand they might hold some sort of patent and might charge royalties, but my IS250 has heated windshield as well, in fact all IS250-SEL has it as standard option.
@jackcramerr - it only warms-up areas around windshield wipers (resting place). It is solely to be turned on if they have frozen on, so it melts the ice around wipers to prevent damage. The windshield around these areas doesn't get very hot to be honest... maybe room temperature at best.
I think they're talking about the fully heated screens. Tiny filaments all across the windscreen, you can see them in a certain light. Unless of course that's what your SE L has?
They are good. We've had a couple of Fords and I think they're pretty much standard fit now.

I have no experience of the Lexus CVT boxes but I have driven plenty of others and do know that I've never read or watched a review of a car with CVT that wasn't complete tosh.

What do you make of this? (And don't say a hat or a pretty flower, we've all seen the movie)
I had all four wheels and tyres rebalanced yesterday and while the nsf was off I noticed these two areas that are smooth and clean where something is rubbing. Nothing to do the wheel or its removal.
Thoughts? Nothing or something?
:edit: It's not like that on the other side.

Malachy, how you restore head lights? Cleaners, or sanding down and clear coat? Mine gone at top, so not interfering with light, but starting to spoil looks
Autoglym headlight restoration kit, a drill and a handful of brave tablets

Might need a cabin filter too to be fair.

As you say, if the power is disconnected I assume the mpg is reset? What sort of driving have you done since you picked it up. If you've just pootled around town then don't forget it's an average so it will be low. Try resetting and go for a steady cruise up the motorway. See what happens then.
My first gen IS doesn't have such statistical wizardry. I think I prefer not to know

I thought any manufacturer could offer them now. So Ford hold a license for the tech? Goodness.
Always wondered, how do you go on with replacement or repaired screens on Fords etc? Most insurers will do a repair or replacement of a regular screen for a nominal amount but heated screens with their metallic elements must be way more money.

That second vid with Mat Watson is just the one I was looking for when this question was posted elsewhere the other day. Thought it was Carbuyer.

Or just leave the winters on. No harm in that. Unless your wife regularly laps the Nurburgring. I left Nokian WR3 SUVs on my 2014 XC90 year round.
I know I keep banging on about this but don't get hung up on the tyre thing. Put some decent all seasons or winters on and forget them. Anything else is marketing and forum pish.

Hi Bamboo
I would stick with the grade of oil recommended by Lexus for your car. When buying filters, its probably best to stick with genuine filters. After pricing them at Lexus, phone your local Toyota dealer to see the price they are quoting for same parts, mention you might just go to eurocarparts as it is an older car and you don't want to spend too much . I done this last week and the person at the end of the phone said he would put the parts through as a trade deal if this would help. Worked out I got genuine parts for the approximate same price as eurocarparts price. I may have been lucky, however as they say " If you don't ask, you'll never know". The worst that can happen is they say no. As far as part numbers go, phone up Lexus or Toyota with registration or VIN number and they will be able to supply you with correct part numbers. Good luck.

Part numbers for Oil Filter 90915-20003, Air filter 87139-48020 priced around £10.00 and £20.00 respectively.
Also obtain new sump plug washer for a round £1.00 part number 90430-12031
I have just purchased 5ltrs of Shell Helix HX7 5w-30 for around £16.00 inc delivery from ECP.
Totally agree with the above. Stick with recommended oils and genuine parts if you can, there are a number of Toyota and Lexus dealers on eBay eg http://stores.ebay.co.uk/hillstoyotalexusstore/ And as far as I'm aware 140k is barely run in I'm pretty sure that if Toyota/Lexus wanted you to use different grades above a certain mileage they'd put it in the handbook rather than relying on forums to get the message out!

I had another chat with the fitter yesterday and he had a look at the rear speakers. Mine are just regular 6x9s (?) with no factory sub so as long as the factory amp is bypassed I'm good to go.

The temptation is strong but solves nothing though does it?
I'm very much a karma sort of person. Not in a waving your chakras and chanting at crystals way but more based on cold statistics. If he continues to drive like a ******, especially as exposed as that, he's a lot more likely to come a serious cropper than Linus. I'm not going to wish him ill, he'll eventually manage to do that all by himself.

Another update.
Went out with a tech from Lexus and he heard the creaks and groans clearly. Greased the auto levelling link and had a good look around. It's still there. I think the noise may be a "feature" My BMWs used to have them.
I've a feeling they have an idea what could be causing the noise but it's not bad enough to bring the warranty in to play. Hey ho...

I guess that is not very surprising or new, but it seems that relations between different groups of the road users are not based on mutual respect, more like rivalry and disrespect. My personal opinion (just a personal opinion!) is that this is result of government making scapegoat of motorists, hence say cyclists or bikers are indirectly encouraged to disrespect them.. which maybe in some government minds discourages people from driving?!
Hell of a conspiracy there Linus. I've no idea what you mean with your scapegoating comment but it appears you've just met one of society's many dickheads. A sub-culture that seems to be on the increase. And they can be motorcyclists, cyclists, motorists, pedestrians or people wearing hats. Makes no odds. Individuals who clearly just don't give a toss about anyone else. My commiserations, it's a shame about the dashcam footage.
The only thing we can do in situations like this is to take a deep breath and make more of an effort to treat people how we would like to be treated.

Not quiet is it? Sometimes I forget to blip the remote if I unlock the boot with key. Certainly gets the blood pumping.

I can't offer a solution Nige but spooky you should post this because it's happened to me a couple of times recently. New Battery too. A Google of "is300 remote unlock problem" throws up some interesting solutions and proves it's not just us!

1) is there an Aux port or can I fit one?
If there isn't no doubt GROM do one. I fitted a GROM AUX doo daa to the headunit in my 2002 IS a couple of weeks ago and it sounds great. Much better than streaming Bluetooth to my ears. On mine it connects to the unused CD autochanger socket on the back. I'd imagine it's a similar set up on yours?
