Each time one 'cancels' the warning by using the button one initialises the the system and the current tyre pressures are used as the new benchmark, whether they are correct or not.
Yes I imagined that was probably the case...........I'll go up to 36psi now
Thanks all.

Indeed, check tyre pressure cold is a must.
Yes, I've just found that out. Today is a lot cooler than yesterday, and the warning came back on. At least I know
how to cancel it now. 🙂 I assume when you cancel the light, that resets the pressure limits. ?
I'm not sure what the pressures should be on mine, with Dunlop sports fitted. I can't make head nor tail of the figures on the door pillar.
I have them at about 34 psi at the moment.

Thanks, I thought that was probably the case.
I didn't realize that all vehicles have to be fitted with TPMS now.

That's very true.
I was resetting mine with techstream and for a day or so the tpms would not illuminate when the car was running. Until day 2 then it would flash for a few minutes and stay lit constantly. This would go on until I next reset it. Then the same repetition would start again. I got the suspect faulty sensor changed. And the garage told me the car will learn about the new sensor. Tripe. A week later still hadn't changed the behaviour. How do you tell which sensor is giving the warning ?

I wonder what the tolerance is on the warning?
Not a lot apparently. The chap who sorted mine out, says it's a very common issue.
Just a shame there's nothing (I could find) in the users manual. I shall print something out for the benefit of the next owner.

One only needs the reset button if one changes the benchmark pressure i.e. increasing pressures for full load conditions.
It can activate for a number of reasons, temperature changes being just one.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is, there are so many versions of the is300h.
I went over the road to the Lexus service centre and a chap kindly came out and showed me where the button is..
It is more or less where you said, but very difficult to see. you would need a mirror in the footwell to be able to see it.
he said it's very common for the light to come on, as they are so sensitive. A lot of people just leave the light on, which
is ok until you get a puncture.

Today I had the Tyre pressure warning light come up.
I checked all tyres and pressures seemed ok, although I did put a bit more air in just to make sure.
The light is still showing though, how do I reset it ? Most of the articles I see, talk of holding in the TPMS button, which my car doesn't have, AFAIK.
It flashes once when the ignition is turned on.
Maybe it's down to the weather ?

Yes I think that's the case. Mine seems to be the basic Executive edition.
As I mentioned previously, the chap in the service centre explained that to fit the Lexus camera, would mean pulling the car to pieces.
With the new wiring loom alone costing something like £1500.
-
True, I've managed without one for the nearly 50yrs of motoring. 🙂

Yes I am still mulling over whether to get a camera or not.... Is it worth spending about £560 ?

Debris in radiator fins maybe ?, it has been rather hot recently too.

! And also wish ,with hindsight , we had gone for the premier model with electric seats etc . I miss my rear view camera .
You have to wonder how much more it would cost when the cars are being made, to add a camera, and in the case of mine, speech recognition. ?

Yes, I seem to remember there are a few hills in Devon.
I probably need to get to the top of Sutton Bank in North Yorkshire and try this 🙂

Although it's obviously advisable, I didn't think there was a legal obligation to get servicing done at a dealers, in order to comply with the terms of a warranty.
You just had to show that it was serviced in accordance with the makers specifications. Not if the warranty is with a dealer anyway, it may be different with an
extended warranty ?

Thanks Matt. I hopefully won't have any issues that need to be dealt with. I don't know if Lexus Customer Relations are based in the UK ?,
I can only assume they are.
Going by the names of those who answered my emails to Ford, they must be based somewhere in Africa.
-
The only dealings I've had with the customer relations deptartment so far, is regards the fitting of a reversing camera.
When they told me it couldn't be done by Lexus, which was confirmed on visiting my local service service centre who explained why.
In general, how have those of you who have needed help or information, found them to be ?
My experience with Ford (for a runaround we own) has been diabolical. All Customer relations do, is to refer you back to the dealer.
Then the dealer refers you back to Fords, so you get stuck in a loop of buck passing.

I regularly had a "full battery" on my Civic Hybrid, but that was a different type of hybrid.

I find it difficult to believe, but apparently some people pay others to wash and vacuum their car 😲😨

Lexus don't help themselves with prices like that ....but a warranty price will naturally be higher than normal.
As an aside I usually stick softened water in my washer bottle (I live in a hard water area ) additionally there are some great threads out there about windscreen washer fluid...its a minefield and often pops up on BMW forums where failures are common.
I'm considering an extended warranty when our 12 month warranty runs out. More than anything, it's for peace of mind.
Regarding washer fluid, avoid the Halfords one. I used it on an Accord I had several years ago. It took me ages to flush it out with a hose pipe.
As every time I washed the windows, it smelt like cats pee.

Hi Alan, if you're used the full indicator mode it sould cancel itself, I use this method, if I'm turning right at a roundabout full indicator, then as I pass the second junction tap down twice to cancel full mode then set overtaking mode to exit.
Using overtaking mode in the opposite direction will cancel a full indicator.
Hope this makes sense.
D
Thanks David, I will try this next time I find a bit of quiet road.

It does take bit of getting used but I like it. Initially I was trying to cancel it and it must have looked like I couldn't make up my mind whether i wanted to turn left of right!
I thought I was the only one with this problem.... So what is the correct way to cancel indicators (not the overtaking mode) ?
-
I trust the corrosion problem has been overcome now on the is300h. ?
I haven't had a rust problem on a car for many years.
-
My is300h must be the best car I've owned, most expensive anyway...Although my Civic hybrid never gave me any trouble.
Worst car..I've had a few rust buckets over the years, but a MkIII Cortina was probably the least reliable.
Wax / polish / PTFE?

Never heard of that being done. You'd have to ultra precious about how your car looks. ?
